As a kid growing up in Transylvania, TAF skidders built at the IRUM plant in Reghin were a mainstream sight. I was always impressed by the power of these monsters, and how they defied anything Mother Nature could throw at them: snow, ice, mud, step gradients, big logs. My machine is not a scale replica, but rather a representation of the concept, drawing inspiration from the ol' reliable TAF 690 OP, the upgraded 690 PE (with Perkins engine and electronics) and the brand new TAF 2012 (especially the G version). For all intents and purposes it's a trial truck, built for the february contest held by RoLUG, so extra-functions are rather lacking. Stats: 4x4 drive provided by 2 XL motors, geared 8.4:1 (12/20, 12/20 bevel, 8/24 portal), steering provided by 2 linear actuators powered by a geared L motor Working winch, only pulls the cable when the tractor is moving forward (hard coupled to the drivetrain of the front axle). Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated. Actually, there is not enough red :)) But i see your point, it would look wonderful in "Bumblebee" livery or John Deere green. I doubt a Claas livery would look fine

Uhh, it's not lightweight. That beercan is a 500 ml can, and the beast is higher than it. I feel like it's 2-3 kg heavy with large battery box

This is my biggest technic creation (so far). It's trying to be a Tatra 813 8x8 truck, with a shorter cab. 2 XL motors provide traction for all wheels and an M motor steers the 2 front axles. For now it will remain like this, as it will enter the Rolug Winter Trial Truck contest and needs to be as light as possible, but after the contest I'd like to continue working on it. I think 1:7,5 for drive (16/40 where the XLs are coupled to the drive shaft and 8/24 at the portals). The steering is 16/20 and 8/40, and 12 teeth wheel on long racks. Sadly there was no space to do a reduction for the 2nd axle steering, so the steering lock is the same for both front axles. It works out fine on snow, but i'll try to improve it in the future @braker23 thanks, it will be a tough competition :)

As i said in the initial post, 2 XL motors for drive, hard coupled to the drive train. One geared M motor for steering the first 2 axles. Tatra type suspension on all 8 wheels with coil springs (not leaf springs like the real vehicle). It's a typical trial truck, high torque, low speed, powerful steering (not RTC), custom portal axles. The snow chains actually work, they are 21 link chains mounted on pulley wheels. Without the chains it works too, but slippery obstacles will be a problem Doors are openable and have a simple locking mechanism. The large battery box is easily removable, it's held down by the 2 unrealistic smoke stacks. The chassis bends when i lift the truck, i think it has 2-3 kg (i'll weigh her in the weekend) What else? At the moment, that's all. It must be as light and simple as possible to perform well in the contest held in 24th February, after that i'll add working steering wheel, v10 or v12 fake motor, maybe motorized windscreen wipers, and of course a modular self contained motorized unit in the back (towing equipment, crane or drill rig)

Hello fellow FOLs and enthusiasts. My name is Tamás an i am a TFOL AFOL from Transylvania. No, I am not a vampire, but keep that garlic nearby just in case... My story began some 20ish years ago when my parents bought me a chinese knockoff building set, whose pieces i lost in a matter of weeks. It went like this for 10 years, and then i received 6166 from Germany. That was a game changer. Then some chinese knockoffs supplemented my part collection, allowing me to build MOCs, evolving my building skills along the way. In may 2011 i discovered RoLUG, becoming an active members since then. Years passed, non-LEGO pieces were removed form my ever growing collection, MOCs became more diverse and larger, and here i am, a devout fan of CITY Fire theme (just the theme), Technic and trains. I'm not much of a collector, any set i buy is solely for parts. MOCs is what i enjoy doing, and i hope you will enjoy seeing them as much as i enjoy building them. But don't expect much, I am lightyears behind fellow romanian masters Vitreolum and Braker23
