  1. Don't worry so much to collect every part you need all at once. If you build it in modules you can collect parts for the 1st 5 modules and get them on the 1st baseplate, then get parts for the next 2 or 3 and add those etc The timing and setup of this project is so fine that it may take a little while to get every module timed perfectly with the rest. I find it kinda fun to browse BL and I always add parts that I feel I could use more of for other projects, I bought a few hundred of the common sizes of DBG bricks and loads of tiles, so when I build another Akiyuki machine I already have them. I haven't already said it but many MANY thanks to Akiyuki for his incredible design and generosity, and of course theRebricker and Blakbird for their work to bring this project to fruition.
  2. I'm blown away by what Lego are giving us with this model.. It's a ridiculous concept, strangely colour coded and awesomely scaled. 6kg+ box weight? I'm sure the manual(s) will be 1kg at least. I'm mildly disappointed that it seems to have just 1 motor (XL at least) I would have preferred 1 or 2 L motors down in the base area for drive and avoiding the long run of axles compared to where the motor sits currently. I can't help but think this arrangement will lead to stress and possible jerky motion/parts failure. Those new quarter-ellipse gear racks? YES PLEASE This set is a must-buy on release for me, I'm absolutely counting the days until August until I can get this home. I really hope Argos do their 3 for 2 on toys again around November time, It will make for a nice conversation with the wife :) But what really gets me excited around this set is waiting to see what magic Akiyuki can get from those new gear racks!
  3. BWE is around 50cm in height and slightly longer - according to Huw its the largest Technic set ever in both physical size and part count - over 3000!! I absolutely can't wait for photo's of this monstous machine!
  4. Sure does seem that 'add a crane to it' has become the mantra regarding Technic in the last few years.
  5. Yes but look at the quality of that set, 42009/8110 don't even come close to it IMO BWE north side of £200? That is a REALLY good thing, since it shows that TLG are willing to build a model of that scale and complexity, and instead of lowering the function and part count they are increasing the price. If the price per part/function is similar to previous flagships I believe we are going to be VERY pleased. I would imagine they have no phones allowed in the booth, really not hard to enforce.
  6. Not from London toy fair, pictures should be online from Nuremberg fair this week
