What was your first lego set?

I think this was the one wish I kept my lego.

Has anybody noticed that 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter is now at Temporarily out of stock and not shown as retired on the lego website? Is it back from the dead? http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Red-Five-X-wing-Starfighter-10240?fromListing=listing

    Buying LEGO as an investment

I don't buy Lego as an investment but I would happily sell one of my used sets if it ever reached double the original value to help fund a couple of newer sets. I have sold sets that I wasn't that keen on second hand and not made a loss. I tend to try and only keeps sets that I really love as I don't have the space and money for loads of sets. I do keep the boxes and instructions safe for if I do decide to sell. However I wouldn't go out and buy more than one set and keep the spare sets in hiding for years to make cash as I dont have the room, money or desire to buy more than 1 of a set.

Thanks I have seen the TIE in person and I didnt find it as impressive as I thought it would be I thought the wings were a bit too thick and the body was too square looking. Having said that I will probably get it at some point. I am edging towards the sandcrawler again now after watching speed builds of the slave 1 and the sandcrawler and also because the sandcrawler is an older set so will be retired sooner. If I find it disappointing I can probably sell it on in a few months time without loosing money. I would get the slave 1 there have been many versions of the none ucs falcon, it hasn't been out long and if you did miss it there will be another in a few years time or it will be cheaper second hand than the slave 1.

Does anybody have any pictures or videos of these sets next to each other? I haven't been lucky enough to see either in person and I am wondering how they compare. I don't know which one to get. When I started collecting again and saw the sandcrawler I instantly wanted it but was put off by the price. Now I have the money there is the option of the cheaper slave 1 which looks more fun to build and everybody says how good it is I am wondering if the sandcrawler is worth the extra money. I am not a massive Bobba Fett fan but empire strikes back has to be my favourite of the films. I have always loved the scenes with the sandcrawler.

    Which set should I buy?

That is one of the things putting me off but also I think the Sand Crawler might be repetitive....

    75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion

Looks great love how you have your sets on display makes me want the car sets you have too lol. And I just realised that is an underground station under your modulars love that idea might need to steal it.

    Which set should I buy?

I cant decide Sand Crawler or Slave 1? I did decide Slave 1 but now I don't know. Is the Sand Crawler worth the extra money? Or shall I just say stuff it and get the Ghost busters fire house I want a big set that is fun to build, keep me occupied for a good amount of time and looks good on display.

How many sets do you own?

11 I don't think I would want hundreds of sets. I tend to save my cash for larger sets. So I think I will limit myself to maybe 30 sets. When I started collecting again I went for smaller sets and now I am currently going through selling them to fund larger sets like the modulars and UCS sets. I also tend to buy sets and then decide further down the line I would prefer to have something different only keeping the ones I really love. I am trying to be selective due to limited space and money :)
  11. Parisian Restaurants is by far the best currently available modular in my opinion and it also looks best by itself out of all of them if you only ever buy one. However if you plan on getting them all start with the pet shop and the cinema before they are retired! I don't know about the retired ones as I haven't seen them but they are ridiculously expensive to buy second hand now.

    Which set should I buy?

Thanks for the advice ordered the pet shop I figured I wont loose anything if I build it and decide I'm not a fan I can sell it on in. I enjoy the interiors as much as the exteriors so I am toying with the idea of modding the 2nd and 3rd floors of both buildings in the style of Emmits apartment as thats what got me back into lego and I have a few lego movie sets I enjoy owning! Decided to hold of on the ghostbusters HQ for now as like you say it hopefully wont be retiring soon. I am going to order the slave 1 as well as the pet shop once it is back in stock on the website :) Thanks for your help guys!

    Displaying your LEGO sets

I use the ikea besta range which I think looks really nice but the doors are pricey. I am going to build a custom acrylic display case to span the top of the cabinate to keep my modulars dust free.

    Which set should I buy?

Hi all first post of many hopefully! I have just got back into lego about a year ago. And I don't know what to get next I currently collect the modular buildings and have Palace cinema, Detectives office and Parisian Restaurant. I also have a number of Star Wars sets including the AT AT, Red Five UCS X wing and Mos Eisley Cantina and want to get more detailed UCS sets. I also have ecto 1 and some lego movie sets. So the choices are 10218 Pet Shop - My least favourite looking modular and I prefer the more detailed interiors of the newer sets but I have seen it on offer at £100 and it will probably be retiring soon so I do not want to regret not adding it to my collection. 75060 Slave 1 - Looks like a really fun build but not a massive fan of the ship design (I think it looks like a giant iron) but comes with Bobba Fett and Han Solo 75095 TIE Fighter - Classic looking ship instantly recognisable to anybody and will look good on display but build looks like it might be boring and repetitive and im not convinced its good value for money. 75059 Sandcrawler - Love the sandcrawler from Star Wars come with loads of cool minifigures droids and moving technic parts. Not sure if the build would be that much fun with all the brown? High price but will probably be retired soon? 75827 Ghost busters fire house - Iconic looking set that I think will be a future classic, comes with loads of cool minifigures and I think it will complement my modular buildings well, but not a big ghostbusters fan and dont know if I can justify the price. So what do you think? Heres a picture of my collection
