Hello Guys,As promised,,,here is my new build of this great Pirate ship..:)After more than 20 years i am building a lego again and waooo,,just went baaccck in memory and remembered how fun it was and it is now.. No Matter how old are you as long as you love something and who does not love Lego..hehehEnjoy ! Captain Roger in his Cabin trying to have his Secret Sip drink so he knows what to do with the Governor's Daughter..;)Lets come to Cons & Pros: -Cons: *It just took my less than 45 mins to finish it...hoped it is little long.. *The Windows are wrongly installed in the Manual and you can tell by : the golden cup in the cabin, it is fitted on the table, so if you gonna install the windows as per the manual, you will never ever be able to open it..loool...i did install them the other way and they indeed look more real..you can see from the photo. *Some bricks are soft when building them on other brick, i mean little loose. *The big Con is: back then in 80's, the parts ( minifig and the ship bases ) were protected with blisters, so they don't get scratch or dents. But in the modern lego boxes, the parts are swimming inside without any protection, which you will notice, the ship bases are getting scratched, the minifig some has minor dent due to shaking. So i hope Lego will think about this in their new products..:) *The lantern at the back are loose due to attached to this like clip part..well, if it was vis versa done, it might hold more tight. *And OMG!!! Where is the campus and the Anchor???--What a shame, i am veeerry disappointed with these 2 main missing parts/features. -Pros: *Well definitely will have pros...:),after many years of being away,,i can see many new parts in this which made me amazed. *Love the Golden parts and Golden Chest. *Has a sexy look and shape.*Color scheme is Fantastic! Welcome buddy!... Yea..me to so in hurry to get the parts yo finish it...:-). After that I have many builds to do too..;-)

CHeers buddy....Welcome! well mate,,i didn't get you regarding the : point 1 and 2?..:) The sails are not missing...they are here and in Excellent condition. I am just waiting for 1x10 black plate to arrive and it will be finished. True,, i love this set and in my opinion it is not less than the 6285 or 6286...it has many beauty features and design..:) Yea, the white color is little off but great! Regards

OK,,,here are some photos of my 6289..it is 99% complete except for the sails..:) I am very happy to see the results of his as it look like if it was unboxed now....just like New everything is great..:).. you also can see the white bricks, not that yellow..so i will not risk these brick into a peroxide treatment at least for now..:) i am planning to store this in big black bag till i get my self a nice display case. Excellent...this what i was looking for..but after thinking a lot,,i decided to leave them as it is...plus these bricks are more than 20 years old so we dont know how they look like after the treatment...also,,not bad to have a sign of discolor which reference to old Era...;) and thanks for the thread on cleaning the Bricks..:) Regards

Definitely I will make review including Cons and Pros. Once I am back home as I am away for couple of days. I will make some photos as I have finished the 6243 and post the review. :-)

This is my best modular set because the faces are just classic and takes me back 25 years back...:)

The ship is complete , only missing parts are some black plates. The white one are all there..this made me little confused. You r true in keeping these factor as a nostalgia. ..:-). Changing these vintage bricks to new will destroy the fact which is old and Gold..;-) I will keep them plus they are not that much annoying...very little change.. I reckon, the bricks must go into color change due to age as per Lego discussion in there forum. Also what make me surprised too is, these bricks still strong and fits tight..:-) Thanks for the advice! Regards

This is a nice set and will add a great feature to Haunted House set. I have ordered this set which will be added to Haunted House...:).. ( a Zombie driver for Vampires )...;)

But I do believe the 10040 are all without the shooting cannons.!

Indeed...the prices are just insane after these sets went retired..and yea..spent little high on these but at least got them..:-). I am going to start the building with 6243 but before that I will build the 6289 which I have already cleaned it and made it ready for assembly. It is so nice to make a battle scenario at display which I will do and have to buy/make a display table case to present these ships. I will make a thread on the 6289 soon:-). Cheers

Hi, I have this Lego 6289. The sails show some yellow due to age and storage. Anyway to clean it and retain some original colr back? regards

HI Mates, Well, here is my little story about Lego...;) Lego is my best favorite toy since i am a child....i am playing with it since i am 6 years old..:). I have many vintage collections from different categories: ( city, space,...etc )...but...huuuuh....back then i was small so you know what i mean..looooool. missing parts. throwing them, breaking them..heheheh. what it is remaining are built and rest bricks are stored in bags ( Thanks to Mom she did these, otherwise i will be having 0 legos...heheh ). I have some few vintage sets in great condition, but having 2-4 piece missing only...which i am so glad it is in this condition. Such as: The Blacktron castle--1987, Blue dragon castle...and i complete like new set: 6289 ship which is my best one... After 23 years i am back again but this time to collect and build them for display...:).... i was so attracted by the modern Ships like: 10210, 6243, 4195 and 4184...so i got these.... Here there are: for sure these will be build,,so if you have any advices, tips for these sets,,i will be happy to take them my 6286 and 6285 are on the way,,,so gonna be a lot of fun! Hope you liked my breife story and photos i am going to make more threads in the coming weeks and yeaaaa,,,thanks to all who assisted me on my requests! Cheers

Is it true that the cannons in 6285 are shootable were in 10040 are not??!!
