LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

Recommended Posts

I think the printed robes works only with certain characters. For instance, it makes sense with Ben since he doesn't really do much without his robe, meaning that we don't need multiple versions or a removable cape. However, characters like Qui-Gon or any other Prequel era Jedi should have a cape to represent their robe, which allows for people to choose whether they want the fig to be wearing their robe or not.

Printed robes is cool for some figs, but by no means should it become a replacement for the existing capes. It should just be another option LEGO has at their disposal.

^^ totally agree. The death star (navy) troopers and other chaps like the light grey suited guy with the Star Destroyer are too hard to come by. Death star trooper set should definitely have included one or two of those kind of guys. Nobody wants more than a couple of guards, and it would have made them a nice exclusive with Final Duel rather than a total 'meh'.

Regarding capes & robe equivalents, I always think this ebay custom looks good when it pops up on my feed (also slightly reminiscent of the robes the first Palitoy toys had!)

Where is this on ebay?!

I simply must get one of them capes!

This; and Pirates sails too, otherwise I prefer plastic.

Now, wouldn’t it be cool if they changed the cape design at least to make it surround the body more? Think how much better those new Royal Guards would look. Those starchy capes are here since 1999, and I think it’s time to change them, fabric and cut.

yeah sails work too. generaly msot non minifigure uses of capes are ok. Lego has started changing fabric. Shame that the new facbric they use in superheroes theme is awful, thick and ugly.

The capes used on Elsa, Galadriel and Vitruvius use a great fabric though!

They do? That’s awesome deskp, I’m waiting for my Galadriel to arrive from France with a new order, and you made me even more excited to receive her. Let us hope they update the capes on the new SW minifigs too.

The cape issue has always bothered me, since it just looks so.....strange. I mean, they look like wings sticking out of the character's backs! I quite like the new printing, but I would really like robes for some characters, including the royal guards, Palpatine, etc. But I think it's unfair for people to say that the Ebay sellers make better designs, since they are not mass-producing the sets and they can put more money and effort into making a minifig.

I just really, really wish that LEGO would do printing on the side of the leg for Star Wars minifigs. I mean, they do that with characters in other themes, so why not this one?

This. Completely agree.

Some characters like Han would look really nice to have the design continue onto the side of the leg. Couldn't say why it hasn't happened as of yet, I'm sure most people would love it. They've already started printing the arms on some, Boba Fett and the Wookies from the Gunship. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in Episode VII sets or sometime next year.

Mass production is not an excuse for poor printing; pen companies in Germany and Japan produce like billions of plastic pens every year and they all have bold printing on the sides. An extra layer of color on darker plastic should be no problem for a company that’s known for the quality of its products… LEGO is not cheap; it’s a premium product.

This year is so slow with the news and pictures that we drifted with the discussion to minor issues, it’s February already and we’ve only seen a poor picture of a rather awesome set, but that’s it. Where is Tydirium? Where are the six mysterious GALIDOR like sets? Where are the boring Episode I repeats?

Put nicely! I'm excited for NYTF to see what new Galidor clones LEGO has in store for us! (Just kidding, I think SW and CCBS would go together quite well)

But I think it's unfair for people to say that the Ebay sellers make better designs, since they are not mass-producing the sets and they can put more money and effort into making a minifig.

In all honesty, it is completely fair. TLG can put a specialised section of people/person and has the ability to mass produce perfectly the same everytime . A single person will make use of what they can to make a cape look good. TLG should be at the front of designs for everything, capes included, especially when they have been the same for such a long period. But then, it's a kids toy. How many kids really care about the accuracy of a cape when they have a minifigure to play with that simply 'looks cool' and 'even has a cape!'...

A cape is just made with a cutting form. The fabric is run in sheets and the cutting form drops to cut each shape (if it's a metal, bladed cutter) or simply runs it's task (if it's a laser cutter). If a small operation running customs on eBay can make good capes then it's ridiculous to say that Lego can't.

Lego simply choose to run with the cape design as they see it as their current solution to capes and cloaks... not because they can't. eBay sellers don't shift things in large enough quantities to make a custom cutter if it was that expensive so why think the largest toy manufacturer in the world would struggle?

Found a prelim photo of 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier on YouTube:

that looks great, sure its a prelim image so it will inevitably change, but it looks very promising!

Ah finally some more pictures! Certainly looks like a promising set, on the basis that I prefer the Shuttle and Final Duel set slightly more this may be a pass, still good set though.

I am getting a little bit confused with the "better quality cape" topic. Are people suggesting that Lego should make printed capes with patterns on them or that they should make better shapes than the current basic one?

.....I like it. It looks so sleek, and so many interesting angles.....And it includes Sabine's helmet....

Now I'm defiantly getting it. It looks amazing. And I don't even like SW Rebels that much. Defiantly first or second on my list. I only get the Rebels sets for the ships/walkers and Imperials :classic:

I'm gonna get it for imperial ships. Also I found episode 13 of rebels and they have a imperial styled police gunship just like the clone wars version. Also a little spoiler if you watch the show, the 2 imperial officers from the premier were beheaded by the inquisitor.
