I don‘t see how Caped Crusader is relevant here. This year‘s sets are based on BTAS, and BCC doesn‘t even have a confirmed release date yet

Well, it is Batman the animated series. I understand that Batman: Cape Crusader will continue from that...

So in other words, no, there are no caped cruscader sets anymore than the BTAS sets this summer are JLU sets or Batman Beyond sets...

You don't want to see?

No, dude, we all WANT lego DC to start getting more sets. But there's a difference between wanting more sets and just pretending Caped Crusader sets are coming with absolutely zero evidence.

Just like with Indiana Jones, I understand the enthusiam. I really do. But at a certain point, you have to face the reality of the situation.

I don’t see why either or those should stop Lego when we’ve gotten March Harriett (escort), Killer Croc (cannibal), etc. I’d argue the bigger issue is neither one of them has gotten much exposure.

TBF neither of those are even remotely as vile or poisonous to marketability as being a p*do. Granted I doubt that's the actual reason that Mad Hatter is never included as he's in all the games, though he wasn't even in TLBM so there is almost certainty something more to his exclusion than just not thinking he'd sell

TLG will make more DC sets when there is a MOVIE? New movie might come in 2025.

TLG will make even more DC sets if there is also Batman animation series. A GOOD ONE!

TLG will make many sets when there are: LIVE-action movie, Animation series and Animation movie ABOUT yes Batman, DC ...

...
So the QUESTION is... Where is Batman: Caped Crusader? Where is The Batman 2? Where is The LEGO Batman Movie 2 ... or even Joker 2 ... a new game! Something and all of those. Then we will get more even many DC sets. So we have to speak first about movies, series and animations. Even toys and video games!

DC doesn't make anything to base Lego sets on these days. TLG chokes the line in revenge!

Screw them. Why couldn't DC do the same? Cartoons won't save them

I don't give a shit about Flash, Aquaman, Shazam and Wonder Woman for example...

Give me: Batman and rogue gallery from Batman The Animated Series. IF DC starts to COPY Marvel... it will be their BIGGEST mistake ever. I liked many aspect in Jack Snyder Justice League BUT Batman should be in bigger role.

Superman or Cyborg... buuuuuuu.... give us Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, Lucius Fox and so on... Gordon...

I totally agree. I also don't like live-action adaptations. The problems are that:

1) The DCAU ran long ago

2) Live-action adaptations are more mass-oriented, than cartoons

Ok... WHY TLG made the Shadow Box? Why now and why set like that?

The same reason why they do some BTAS sets now. Beloved classics help preserving the line

I mean, like, in general I agree with you here, but... cannibalism is also pretty bad, I think. (I mean, all three are bad, escort's just not really on the same level as the other two).

In general, it's more about appropriateness than level of evil. Crimes that would have Chris Hansen showing up alongside Batman are both really evil and not something appropriate for kids. Joker routinely murders and stuff, which is pretty evil, but more acceptable for kids to see. March Harriet's crime is less evil than, say, Joker killing Jason, but since "escort" isn't really something you can explain to kids, unlike "joker killed robin", it was more surprising she showed up.

I think Mad Hatter's just not in sets because he's not very interesting to kids. This is the first I've heard of him committing that particular evil, and it's not like lego hasn't made figs of people of that level of evil before (deathstroke).

I mean, sort of? Lego Marvel still does produce sets for new movies, but it's less, and they mainly focus on the older, more popular movies (infinity saga) as well as mainstays like spider-man.

I mean, yeah, we'll probably get a couple Batman two sets, next year. That's why we don't know "where" they are. We aren't getting Joker two sets, obviously, and we very rarely get stuff for games. We also won't get Caped Crusader stuff right off the bat as it's kind of in development hell, so lego has no guarantee the sets would do better than, say, the Burton sets they like putting out, because they don't even know if/when the SHOW will come out.

Your argument for us supposedly getting caped crusader sets was that we had BTAS sets, and I was pointing out that that argument doesn't really make sense, as I could say the exact same thing about other shows- ones more connected to BTAS- like Batman Beyond or JLU.

So you are saying that LEGO cares Marvel BUT does NOT care about DC?

AND still none of you can't tell why TLG made the Shadow Box?

We should be grateful for TLG that they actually made a DC line. But most and foremost - to the DCAU, that made such things appropriate for kids (thanks to heavy censorship, BTW).

Alan Moore believed that the DC universe shouldn't be dark and violent - he preferred stories about Ace the Bat-hound and Bat-Mite... I don't totally agree with him, but I still think there should be limits... BTAS and TNBA are almost perfect that way - not too much.

As I said, the Burtonverse is a beloved classic that helps preserving the Lego DC line before something more recent will be created

You should understand that Shadow Box and upcoming Art set costs total about 700 € euros. ... so I would say TLG has not forgotten DC. Could we get more, yes! BUT if there isn't Batman movies, series, animation movies... hey? THERE WON'T BE DC & BATMAN sets...

That is it!

It's not TLG's fault that DC failed! They are trying their best... But they can't help but feel angry with DC...

TLG tries to preserve and choke Lego DC at the same time... Funny old world...

I think people are misunderstanding this. LEGO isn't trying to strangle DC. Odds are, at one point recently, DC did NOT do well, very likely in 2018 era where sets started to slow down, and LEGO works based on money. They made a few sets after, which must not have done well enough either. And so they decided to focus on old classics with adult interest, making less system sets for the theme and more adult 18+ sets to appeal to classic fans of DC.

Alongside all of this, Marvel has been churning out more popular films with plenty of set opportunities, and so with having one team for both subthemes of superheroes, it makes FAR more sense economically for LEGO to focus on some Batmobiles for kids and 18+ sets for classic fans, and then make more system sets for the Marvel movies kids are attending with more consistency than "The Batman" or "Joker."
