Description

Quote

"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."

― Supreme Chancellor Palpatine

The Stygian Caldera Society (SCS) was a shadowy syndicate led by the former Imperial Advisor, Lord Eniro Hassat. Publicly, the organisation dealt in corporate manufacturing, technology, research and engineering, and was involved in business across the galaxy. In reality, however, the faction was an occultist crime syndicate run by a group of powerful bureaucrats, building on a substantial portion of the remnants of the Imperial Department of Military Research.

Buried in secrecy, layers of bureaucracy, and corporate masquerades, the Stygian Caldera Society was devoted to studying the dark side, and experimenting with the occult. Most of the society’s directive was initiated by Emperor Palpatine himself, but with the increase of high ranking imperial officers dabbling in the occult, the society’s focus shifted towards weaponising dark powers, gaining influence and wealth across the galaxy.

History

The Stygian Society is a fairly young organization, but it’s dark ideology and sinister agenda is as old as the Sith Order.

Embers of the Empire

SCS32.jpgAfter the defeat at Endor, imperial advisor Lord Eniro Hassat, and Chief Scientist Obulon Arthuros, reorganized several research operations within the Imperial Department of Military Research, and relocated to the top secret Maw Installation. The reorganization was a part of a contingency plan in order to hide, and continue imperial research operations without outside interference.

During the following months, Lord Hassat rerouted resources from several smaller imperial installations, outposts, and mining operations, to the Maw. In order to avoid attention being drawn to the Maw Installation, Lord Hassat began to decentralise various operations. Most operations remained imperial, but the organization began to branch out into legitimate, as well as illegitimate, subsidiary operations.

A New Dawn

SCS34.jpgBy the time of the battle of Jakku, approximately a year after the battle of Endor, the Stygian Caldera Society was a well established, although highly secretive organization. In the following years, members of the Stygian Caldera Society had obtained influential positions in some of the most powerful organizations across the galaxy (e.g. Kuat Drive Yards, SoroSuub, Bounty Hunter’s Guild, and various crime syndicates).

Although branching out, it was, however, the network in the criminal underworld (smuggling, arms dealing, and other criminal activities), that defined the Stygian Caldera Society’s growth under Lord Eniro Hassat’s leadership. Naturally, the operations of the Stygian Caldera Society were not in alignment with the Galactic Concordance. In fact the existence of the organization remained unknown, or a rumor at best, to the New Republic.

Organization

The Stygian Caldera Society is a collective of departments and subsidiaries, ruled by the ‘Inner Circle’ of the Stygian Caldera Society. Some departments are closely woven into the Society, working directly towards the Society’s agenda. Others have representatives in the inner circle, but act independently, following occasional orders and directives.

THE INNER CIRCLE

The Inner Circle is the governing entity of the Stygian Caldera Society. This cabal is shrouded in secrecy, and is exclusively for initiated members. The inner circle has its own internal ranks, but is ruled through an iron fist by the four lords, and the overlord.

THE LORDS OF THE SCS

SCS-37.jpgLord (overlord) Eniro Hassat

Species: Human; Gender: Male; Homeworld: Galidraan; Affiliation: Imperial Advisor, Ex-ISB;

Eniro was born on Galidraan (27 BBY), and spent his childhood in the comfort of the aristocratic Hassat family. Being raised during the Clone Wars, he took an early interest in galactic geography shaped by ancient wars. Eniro’s passion for warstories led him to enlist in the Imperial Academy at only 10 years old. He quickly qualified for the intelligence branch, where he rose to the rank of ISB officer. Around 6 BBY, Eniro Hassat had earned a reputation as an extremely skilled tactician, battle strategist, and historian. Skills he would display on the battlefield, as well as on the political scene. Two years after the battle of Yavin, Eniro’s achievements had earned him a seat among Emperor Palpatine’s most trusted advisors. As an Imperial Advisor, Eniro Hassat began working on some of the most classified operations, some only known to the Emperor and a handful others.

SCS14.jpgChief Scientist (lord) Dr. Obulon Arthuros

Species: Presumed human; Gender: Male; Homeworld: Unknown; Affiliation: Imperial Department of Military Research, Project Harvester;

Dr. Arthuros was a highly decorated imperial scientist, with a passion for the occult, and a reputation for uncompromising methods and ethics. This also meant that more often than not, Dr. Arthuros worked alone, with his colleagues avoiding his projects. However, the ambition and tenacity of the doctor quickly put him in charge of some of the most important science projects in the empire. It was the doctor’s passion for the occult that drove him to embark on several mysterious journeys into the unknown regions. Arthuros have not been seen since, which led to numerous rumors about his disappearance, and even death. These rumors have been denied by the society’s leadership.

SCS-36.jpgLord Moff Krant Cerato

Species: Human; Gender: Male; Homeworld: Rhommamool; Affiliation: Imperial 212th Attack Battalion, Imperial Remnant;

Moff Krant Cerato was a ruthless army general, who rose to the rank of Moff under Emperor Palpatine. Highly irregular for imperial dress code, Moff Krant Cerato wore a cloak made from the pelt of a Wookie, atop his standard issue imperial officer uniform. Rumor has it that the cloak was from a wookie warrior, Cerato killed in hand-to-hand combat, on his first command assignment on Kashyyyk.

SCS-33.jpgThe Crimson Duchess (lord)

Species: Human (crimerian); Gender: Female; Homeworld: Crim; Affiliation: The Crim Dominion, The living force;

The Crimson Duchess was the ruler of the mysterious Crim Dominion. Her mother also held the Crimson Duchess-title, handed down from mother to daughter, dating back generations. Rumor has it that the late emperor held the previous Duchess and the Crim Dominion in high regard. This could be the explanation for the deep imperial loyalty and military might of a relatively small system.

SCS10.jpgLord Zuul Khaz

Species: Sith; Gender: Male; Homeworld: n/a (presumed Korriban); Affiliation: Underworld, Sith;

Mystery shrouds this force sensitive, Sith pureblood. Rumor has it that Eniro Hassat’s father freed the orphaned Sith youngling from slavery on Nar Shaddaa. Retribution, revenge and an inherent lust for power, pitted Zuul against crime lords across hutt space and the corporate sector. By overtaking numerous guilds and gangs, Thull built a substantial criminal syndicate. Zuul claims to be the sole descendant of the Sith Lord Naga Sadow, and it is through this ancestral tie, that Zuul claims to be the rightful ruler of Korriban and Ziost.

IMPERIAL DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY RESEARCHIDMR_logo.jpg

The Stygian Caldera society naturally formed around a large portion of Imperial Department of Military Research operations overseen by Lord Eniro Hassat, and consolidated under Dr. Obulon’s leadership. The operations of the department included the Maw Installation, The Acolyte Program, Project Harvester, Project Starscream, some projects from the Tarkin Initiative, and the Dark Trooper Program. Other projects were even more secretive, dabbling in dark sciences, the unnatural, and occult. The department also held volumes of information on other Imperial research projects across the galaxy. With the increasing interest in the occult, the department was often referred to as the Imperial Cabinet of Madness.

You might find yourself as a lead scientist or engineer working on a highly classified project, trying to unearth the secrets of wicked artifacts, or collect subjects for your experiments. Or, you might be travelling the galaxy, as an archeologist, searching for lost relics in ancient ruins.

STYGIAN SOCIETY DEVOTEES

With so many operations conflicting with the Galactic Concordance, the society had grown a substantial network of specialized agents, and devotees, to lead highly secretive operations. Navigating the shadows of the occult and criminal underworld required a special breed of operative. You may find yourself as a former Special Forces agent, carrying out covert missions for the society. Or you could be a Relic Hunter scouring the galaxy for powerful Sith artifacts, vital for some cult ritual.

IMG_0843_7.jpg

ARMED FORCES, INTELLIGENCE, AND SECURITY

The consolidation of research operations incorporated several ISB departments, and armed forces, under the society’s leadership. These forces were responsible for safeguarding imperial interests, and would continue to do so for the SCS. In addition to safeguarding activities and assets, the SCS was also joined by various local law-enforcement agencies, on worlds loyal to the SCS.

You might find yourself as a special forces operative, agent or an intelligence officer reporting to Lord Amus, leader of the SCS Intelligence, and CrimSec. You could also be reporting to one of the Imperial Officers, among the ranks of the more classically trained armed or naval forces. Or, you could be an elite member of one of the many local law-enforcement units, loyal to the SCS.

CRIMSON SECURITYCRIM_logo.jpg
Crimson Security was a subdivision of the ISB departments controlled by the SCS. The elite soldiers of CrimSec had received special forces training on the mysterious Crim Dominion, similar to that of the former Emperor’s Royal Guard. Other similarities, such as their crimson armor and their ancient name, "Nibu-den Korho" (meaning Sons of Crim), gave further evidence to rumors of their shared conception with the Emperor’s Royal Guard.

Leader(s): Baron Vul Djanis; Headquarter: Unknown (presumed the Crim system); Location(s): The Crim Dominion, The Maw, Centares.

Territory

The heart of the Stygian Caldera Society stretches from Centares in the Maldrood sector, northwards past Columex to the Thanium sector. However, this region is not controlled by occupation, but rather through influence and political loyalty. In general the Stygian Caldera does not conquer worlds, as much as it infects, and manipulates systems into submission. Outside the Stygian society’s heartlands, locations are scattered all across the galaxy, and include research outposts, archeological sites. occult enclaves, and other sinister facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I JOIN?
Send an application in PM to faction leader @Darth Bjorn, building your case for, why you are a perfect fit for the Stygian Caldera Society.

WHAT SHOULD MY BUILDS LOOK LIKE?
As a faction rising from the ashes of the Imperial Department of Military Research, your builds could be inspired by imperial aesthetics. The Stygian Caldera Society is a villainous faction, meaning that a sinister, and dark undertone in your builds are highly encouraged.

WHERE CAN I BUILD?
The Stygian Caldera Society is more about small secretive enclaves and outposts, than a massive territory. That means that the SCS is scattered across the galaxy, with a few permanent strongholds. Above you will find a map of sectors, systems and hyperlanes accessible to the faction. You are allowed to build anywhere in the Star Wars galaxy, but only by building in accessible systems can you earn Influence Points (IP = System Control) for the faction.

Members of the Stygian Caldera Society can build in any system, where the faction has control or a presence (red regions, grids, and systems). Members can also build on any system along the red hyperlanes.

The Followers of the Force have created a Blockade in the Kinyen system (L15). The purpose of this blockade, cornerstoned by a powerful Mom Calamari warship, is to secure neutrality on the Great Gran Run. To that end, it applies to both Imperial and Republic affiliates, preventing either from invading the other.

After the Invasion of Iridonia, and the disappearance of Cdr. Bannon, Agent Amus took command of Reaper Squad. Although most Triumvirate forces regrouped under the new Imperial Consortium, Agent Amus had already been serving the Imperial Advisor, Lord Hassat, for months. For the first time in years, Amus was back in his armor, ready to serve as the right hand of Lord Hassat.

Lieutenant Vandris Tors, a former Death Trooper, has searched for several years since the discovery on Lothal for a second opportunity to find another doorway to the Force. Recently obtained information may put it within his reach once more. From his office on snowy Galidraan in the castle fortress of the Stygian Caldera Society, a shadowy Imperial Remnant group, he arranges his next move.

Vandris Tors was badly injured during the Galactic Civil war, receiving severe burns on the right side of his body and losing his right arm in the process. He retains full mobility thanks to the excellent medical robotics technology of the Imperial military. Several years after the death of the Emperor, he now serves Lord Hassat in the Stygian Caldera Society and commands the Phantom Platoon. The Phantom Platoon is one of the deadliest fighting forces of any Imperial remnant. They are equipped with aptly named Stygian-Triprismatic Polymer armor in addition to personal cloaking devices.
