How to make the Amelia Earhart plane look like its flying?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any suggestions on how (using clear parts to build up a stand or something) I can make the Amelia Earhart plane look like its flying? If I just mount parts where the black stand in the official set is, it doesn't work since the rear of the plane will pull any tower over.

Ideas appreciated please, I want to have it flying over my New York scene in the way the same plane does at the end of Night at the Museum 2 but I can't find a way to make it stay up...

At the end of Huw's official Brickset review of the set, he makes what he sees to be a better stand (which I agree with wholeheartedly).  It certainly gives the impression it's flying.  Or, conversely, you could try using these if you want the transparency:

You probably can't hang it unless you've got accessible rafters in your ceiling, or are prepared to drill loads of holes to fit hooks in a possibly perfect ceiling.  If you do chose this path, there's some good invisible thread out there....
