[MOC] Toyota 2000gt - First Japanese supercar

I came across this car on the Internet and was eager to take up such unusual forms. The car was created by YAMAHA either for Honda, or for Nissan (different sources have different information), but was refused. Yamaha did not think for a long time and went to the Toyota. The car was made under the inspiration of European supercars (Jaguar F-type), and most of these Toyotas went abroad.



I started building from the back of the car, which is typical for this car, then moved on to the roof, interior, and front

In the model I tried to correctly convey the lines and features of the body. Functions: steering, lever to open the hood and opening sleeping headlights

Comparison with the original. The door should be longer, but due to the use of a large panel between the door and the front wing, this could not be done.

Due to LEGO limitations it looks to me as very good MOC, but if I understand correctly no suspension and no drivetrain (rear wheel drive + engine)?

It does look nice, but to be brutal, this is not a Technic model, it's a creator expert model built with Technic panels. Lego won't pick it up through Ideas, because they wouldn't how to sell it.

That's a really good looking 2000GT - the curves of the sports car are instantly recognisable. Now I say sports car, but it is arguably more of a GT car. In any case, it laid the groundwork for Toyota sports cars and has become a very important part of the heritage of the brand.

This is an extremely rare sports car. I passed a couple of them last year as they were leaving Nordschhleife for the N24. They were joined by a pair of Mk 4 and a pair of Mk 5 Supras. The collaboration with Yamaha has been a great journey. It even included acoustic tuning of the first super car by Toyota, the Lexus LFA.

Very nice model, the curves if the car look good. But think the headlights are dragging the oveall look of the model down. I know how hard stuff like this is, I spent a lot of time on my latest project car's headlights as well. But I still think it is a weakpoint of the model that could be improved.

I dare not agree. In most of its details, it is Technic. Only the headlights and radiator grille, the engine panel, a pair of body lines at the rear and the dashboard are made of System parts.
If we are talking about functions, yes, it is closer to Creator Expert than to Technic

I think we do agree, in fact :)

I don't see a model this size can be called Technic if it doesn't have at least a fake motor. The Corvette didn't have much more than that, but it did have that.Functionally, this is closer to the Mustang. 

So: Lego couldn't sell it as Technic because it has no functions, but also not as Creator, because it's made with Technic panels.
