Rubblemaker Posted December 7, 2019 Hi all, I've just finished work on a moc of the amazing EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate. Its such a complex ship to look at that I didn't think I'd get very far on it to be honest, but it turned out to be surprisingly Lego-friendly. The model is made of about 1,100 pieces and is 58cm long and 30cm high. It took me about a month to design and build it. It has an L-shaped technic structure inside which makes it pretty strong and I can easily carry it around by holding the mid section connecting tube. For anyone interested the full album can be found on my flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157712097621513/with/49181413701/ Here's a few pictures from it: Thanks for looking. m4st3rt3ch Posted December 7, 2019 (edited) Wow, finally a good looking AND stable AND affordable version of this icon. More than very well done, sir! The only thing i'd change are the white engines. Any plans on releasing instructions? Edited December 7, 2019 by m4st3rt3ch
That Orange Thing Posted December 7, 2019 A great rendition at a great scale. 99.9% of people on this site will look at the other larger mocs of the nebulon with great envy but this scale opens up the possibility of building the ship to most people (if there are any instructions, obviously). I would agree with m4st3rt3ch that the engines could be changed out but have you thought about changing a couple of the pods at the front to different colours such as sand green and tan to bring a bit more colour? You could also add some wedge plates to the spine of that front module to break up the dry stone wall look the repeating tiles and curves give it. It really is a great build and i'm just throwing out a few tinkering ideas I would do once built like i would with official sets.

Thanks. :) the white engines... yeah.. :/ they were my attempt at replicating the effect seen here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/EF76_Nebulon-B_escort_frigate/Legends?file=NebBengines_btm.jpg Not easy to do with Lego but I tried ;) As for instructions, if I could I would. I really need to teach myself how to use Stud.io or LDD. That’s one of my plans for 2020 actually so I may well rebuild this in digital and produce instructions for it as my first project. 1 hour ago, That Orange Thing said: A great rendition at a great scale. 99.9% of people on this site will look at the other larger mocs of the nebulon with great envy but this scale opens up the possibility of building the ship to most people (if there are any instructions, obviously). One of the main rules I imposed on myself when making this was to not look at any other Mocs of this ship, so any similarities are genuinely coincidental. I’ve since looked at a few and noticed some people use wedge plates as you’ve suggested. They do look cool. I think for me my stubborn intent to have as few studs visible as possible, along with an excess of LBG tiles and a lack of LBG wedge plates in my spares determined how that section came out! As for those pods at the front, I agree, I really wanted to colour match them but I couldn’t find the curved wedges I used for the bridge in sand green or a tan version of the cone section lower down :( Edited December 7, 2019 by Rubblemaker
Gusseteer Posted December 7, 2019 Wow, I love this. Great work, it really captures the details in a comparatively compact size. I would be interested in instructions for this.
