Blacktron Mafia: Day 1, Stellar Conflicts

Recommended Posts

(Explanation of Logic:

Hinckley always gets investigated first. Tradition of the game. Scum need to know town PRs. Godfathers don't turn up as scum. So, if Technic(as a goon) tricks newbies and directs traffic towards him(Hinckley as Godfather), even at the cost of getting killed, the scum team gets /invaluable/ information - while Hinckley won't ever come up as scum /because he's a Godfather/ - meaning he can sit and run the game.)

Are you sure about that? :look:

As several others have already said before, although regarding different posts, there’s nothing absolute about this situation, except affiliation (although even that has been proven to be changeable in the past).

Quick to agree with the strong.

*ping*

With the strong? That’s a funny way to save that. Forgive me if you’re just speaking in your usual manner here, but something about the way you phrased that *ping*s me.

What do you mean back on topic? We're not really talking about much of anything except for how scummy Wen's statement about defending Seamus is. You're going on and on about people not posting fluff when there's nothing of substance to talk about yet. We're not even at the twenty-four hour mark yet. Are we going to get back on topic to you yelling at us to stop posting fluffy things? You're posting more then anyone else is and it's mostly been complaints about the content being posted. These posts themselves are fluffy since it's so easy to just say that and make yourself look not only active but also helpful to the town.

If we're going to talk about substance when there's nothing much to say yet, yes, Wen talking about defending Seamus for no reason on the second page of Day One when there's nothing to defend him from is exceedingly suspicious. It seems like he's trying to move past it hastily by saying "but I posted that a while ago." It doesn't matter if it was "awhile ago" (two hours is not awhile ago), it still warrants discussion since it's scummy as hell.

^

A lot of Clem's posts are either very defensive, as she’s responding to every single suspicion people have voiced about her, or don’t say anything of substance. I don’t think there’s anything too weird about her vote though. I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but it’s important to voice your own suspicions and act on them as you feel led, instead of just repeating what everyone else has said. But at the same time, it would be more problematic if her not voting for Wen kept us from a lynch.

Pigs in Spaaaace!!!

Best post of the day.

And clem is too vocal to be Blacktron.

So you’re saying people who talk a lot automatically can’t be scum?

You seemed to have positioned yourself nicely in the middle. You post enough to appear active, yet not too little so you’ll be called out on it.

Vote: Hannah Ford (Ranger of the Forest)

Because she's barely gotten out of bed during all of this. One solitary post, making all the usual noises (I'm busy, I've got suspicions that I'll talk more about later and doesn't ever do it, brief comments on the main characters of the day) but nothing of substance or importance. AKA sliding under the radar... scummo's favorite place to be.

Well I’m doing it now

You rookies get more and more impatient each year. Kids these days... :sadnew:

Again, it’s day one. I wish I didn’t have to vote, because I honestly don’t have a very strong leaning on anyone, but I do. Hopefully today’s lynch will give us more info for future days.

Vote: Doctor Wen (Xenophobic Monoxide)

Because many have gone into detail about this already, and your lynch is pretty much a done deal at this point, I’ll keep this brief. A lot of your posts are very suspicious, and if nothing else your lynch should give us some good leads for the days to come. Nothing personal, and I hope you do play again.

I wish I didn’t have to vote :cry_sad:

At the moment, Ender is on my scumdar, as is Clem.

There’s still several hours left in the day, I believe, so I’ll pop back in as often as I can. But business is booming these days, so I won’t promise anything. After all, there are no absolutes here

*won’t be called out on it :hmpf: I need sleep, my brain has stopped functioning

I found it interesting that Clementine is currently voting for Hariett as opposed to Dr. Wen. If I were in his shoes I'd likely be trying to save my own skin and vote for the other popular candidate. I see a couple possible reasons for this: if clementine is scum he's either trying to vote in a manner that would remove suspicion from a teammate after he is dead or he's trying to split the vote to protect a scum teammate. If Clementine is town then I don't really understand the rationale for his vote as he'd be the only player who he knew was a townie so self-preservation kicks in.

Is any of this making any sense?

Minga thinks that Clementine voting for Harriet is an attempt to make her seem more towny in our eyes. Doctor Wen is the classic Day One lynch whom everyone piles on; Clementine knew this and guessed he'd be the eventual lynch. Not voting for Wen looks towny and was probably a ploy to get votes off her. The other explanation, as Ender pointed out, is that Clementine is trying to remove suspicion from Wen. (This is, of course, assuming that Clementine is scum in this scenario)

Minga sees no need to change her vote, as the lynch is already sealed. Minga predicts poor Wen will flip town, but at least we have a lynch.

Suspecting 4 people on Day 1 isn't as normal as suspecting 4 people on Day 3. Based off of that, if you suspect 4 people on the first day which is the day when there's the most fluff, how many people will you suspect by Day 2? That's the day we have more info on, more info = more suspicions.

Really? Let's see...

An example is...

2 people vote for Claw

3 people vote for Harriet

1 person votes for Dr. Wen

5 people vote for you

4 people vote for 2of4

4 people vote for ZipZup

That seems like 19 people that all voted but I don't see a lynch going on in my example...

Really? Surely I would think it would be normal to suspect 4 or more people on the first day. Because surely, with more info you would be able to eliminate more people off your list off suspicions.

In the case that tonight I get killed via SK/vig/scum/whomever/taken out by some form of killer, my current "suspicions" are as follows:

Harriet Stomper, for reasons which I have posted, Vasquez for her last-minute attempt to join the failed bandwagon against me, and her only repeating what other people had posted, and 4 of 2 raised some good points as regarding Hannah Ford.

This is Clementine Lister, signing off.

Dang, way to jump on all the suspicions. Even saying I might have something with Hannah, when my vote was primarily a prod with a bit of suspicion mixed in. And really, signing off when there's still 24 hours left? Way to be fatalistic! Although I realized that according to the rules, the day is over since the majority has been reached. Don't think I've ever played a game on this planet though that does that, the rulers here usually let the hours run out in the day. Other places I've played DID end immediately when lynch was reached and it really affects the playstyle, since it becomes strategy to time the last votes.

But seriously Clem, even I know my vote on Hannah was a throwaway vote. I was just looking for someone I could justify a vote on since it's mandatory and I don't want to vote for you or Wen. But now I'm pinging a bit with how you jumped all over that weak suspicion...

What's funny about that? There is a long track record here in which certain players are considered "strong" players and Seamus is at the top of that list. People always try to buddy up with him and this early in the game I regard that with suspicion.

I feel that either way Wen's allegiance turns out, we should definitely revisit Sweet Clementine. There's just too much there too ignore.

According to the rules, the day was supposed to end - technically, it should have ended before I got that post out. In the case I died, I wanted to re-highlight my suspicion of Vasquez, lest it be missed in the shuffle.

It wasn't a jump, it was a "Yeah, didn't notice her posting style, good to notice that. Keep an eye on it.". :shrug_confused:

Interesting that you keep brining up me. Anyone can go back and see that I based my vote on valid suspicions I have of how you have been acting. To call me out as a last minute attempt at bandwagoning is really over acting at this point. If I was to bandwagon I would have voted for Dr. Wen, but I find you far more suspicious. And to add to my previous thoughts, I think you were so worried about the godfather early on because you could very well be the godfather. A godfather would have no worry about being so active and up front, trying to lead the town in the wrong direction (in a previous existence on another planet I was the godfather).

I am perfectly happy with where my vote is and will keep it on you.

Yeah, 'cause you pinged me. :hmpf_bad:

Not if you're scum, and you know he's going to turn up town.
but I find you far more suspicious.
Because I called you out on having made a parroted post.

Having gone over your post again, I'm not happy with my vote. Harriet made a scummish post, but it can in theory be chalked up to newbish behavior. You, on the other hand, are defending yourself in such a manner as highly suggests an attempt to deflect attention. :hmpf_bad:

Vote: Vasquez Rodriguez(Lady K)

Minga finds this switch of opinions...well, a bit off, especially since Clementine was extremely convinced of Harriet's scumminess earlier. Ping.

A girl reserves the right to change her mind. Especially when someone makes a post that pings them even louder than their first suspicion, and then keeps right on pinging.

I must not be reading right or something but I don't see where she was parroting other posts. Except in the beginning, but the other points she stated weren't parroting others... :look:

I haven't seen any other person or alien bring up something about you being eager to vote except Vasquez. This seems a bit like a weak defense if you ask me. :def_shrug:

No, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Your choice of the word “strong” to describe such players bugged me a little. Why not experienced? Strong makes it sound like you think these people are inherently more powerful, if you see my point. Maybe I was making a mountain out of a molehill, I’m not sure, but I found it worth commenting on at the time.

Alright, since it's pretty dead, and everyone already expected the day to be over, I'm going to start the night an hour early. Merry Christmas.

Vote update:

11 votes for Doctor Wen (Xenophobic Monoxide): (Mediumsnowman, Hinckley, Tariq, Bob, Captain Nemo, TinyPiesRUs, CallMePie, Fhomess, Piratedave84, Jluck, Ranger of the Forest)

6 votes for Clementine Lister (Lind Whisperer): (Chromeknight, Sir Stig, Xenophobic Monoxide, Lazychicken, Lady K, Dragonfire)

1 vote for Vasquez Rodriguez (Lady K): (Lind Whisperer)

1 vote for Hannah Ford (Ranger of the Forest): Mostlytechnic

10 votes are required to lynch.

The day is now over.

With 11 votes, Doctor Wen (Xenophobic Monoxide) has been lynched.

Night actions due within the next 24 hours. The sooner the better.

A day conclusion will be added in a bit over 12 hours.

The conversation continued in Meeting Room 1...

20544434044_8d6a5c2ba5.jpg

Hannah pontificated on the ramifications of her recent transaction...

21167079845_47b1df183e.jpg

Hannah: "Man, I could make a business on smuggling swords alone if they're always this lucrative! They could call me "the Sword Smuggler!" Or no, "The Cutlass Courier!" Or maybe "The Saber Racer!" Hmm. There's gotta be a clever name out there for that. :look:

Meanwhile, the Insectoid Aristocrat and the Badass Bounty Hunter chatted...

20979222368_a4bbff4275.jpg

Danny: "so, is that a Scottish accent, or an Australian accent?"

Seamus: "Wha'?! Are you daft, mate? You think I'm Australian?!"

Danny: "I meant Planet Australia. You know, the planet inhabited entirely by Scottish emigrants? "

Seamus: "Tha' sounds like a retcon to me."

Danny: "You mean like Planet Retcon? The planet entirely inhabited by Ridley Scott's later works?"

Seamus: "you're a really bitter wanker."

Danny: "Yup!"

Colonel Jack Jones: "Let's talk about Scotland again."

As the day grew later, Diamond decided to get drinks.

20546055623_8bd3ccef62.jpg

Diamond: "Ok, so, at the end of each day, I'll pass out a drink to everyone. Each drink does something different, and you get to pick which drink you'de like from the following list!"

Nathan: "Hey, babe, don't you think it's a little late in the day for something like that?"

Diamond: "Aww... but it was a cool mechanism!"

Nathan: "there's always next game! Anyways, wo yao yi bei pijiu!" *note: mandarin speakers: please mispronounce this as if you were an american cowboy with no language specialist on set.*

When the day finally drew to a close, Danny longlegs jumped back onto the table.

20980387709_a1baa35a44.jpg

"Allright! Who am I killing interrogating tonight?" He demanded of the crowd.

The croud pointed fingers wildly, but finally settled mostly on the Doctor.

20544664504_338e265d56.jpg

Danny hopped off the table and took the Doctor's hand.

Doctor Wen: "Are we going on an adventure?"

Danny: "just you, my friend! You're off to the "Undiscover'd land from whose bourne no traveler returns!"

Doctor Wen: "sounds exciting, but I do prefer to travel with a Companion!"

Danny: "they'll meet you there! We will all join you in time... and we all have so little time..."

With Danny off with the Doctor, Colonel Jack Jones took a stand on the table!

21141118396_3d52fce613.jpg

"Go to your bunks! I don't care who's bunk you go to, but you can't stay here! We'll reconvene here when the morning bell rings!"
