Is your love for Starwars strong enough to buy the €$1000 Deathstar? Sorry, but I do like the Rey trilogy too. More than the prequel trilogy. 1k USD Deathstar? Depends on how it looks AND if I had the cash for it. I went for the AT-AT, some years ago. I do think that 2025, has some interesting sets. Oh yeah, this is the, most recent SW set bought. Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit 75396, is my latest SW. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Time to resurrect this fun thread! Recently I got Plo Koon's Microfighter and it looks like this will be the only Lego Star Wars set I am getting this year. I just checked the list of all sets at Brickset in case I have forgotten something, but nope, there's nothing Well, there's Qui-Gon, whom I got with one of the magazines. Next week we'll get Ahsoka with the magazine in Germany, which I'll also buy. Quote
BrickPrick Posted July 4 Posted July 4 My most recent Lego sets were Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter Microfighter and the Death Trooper & Night Trooper Battle Pack. Next set i'm getting is gonna be a controversial one. Quote
lowlead Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Couldn't pass up the new UCS Slave 1 - once completed it will replace my 75060 currently on display. Quote
Lordhelmet Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Had some great deals, bought another star destroyer for 30% off. But my good deals were on the Paz visla set ($15 at Target) and the barc speeder for $12 at target picked up a few of each. Quote

A set surely known for it's fair share of problems. But whether or not these issues suffice to stop you from getting it always depends on if you already own any ship's version or not. I don't, so i see no other option. Besides, I don't wanna complain about Lego for ever so rarely releasing any TPM sets these days, while also ignoring the only play scale set we actually got for it's 25th anniversary. Robotbikeboy Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I've been trying to round out my Starships collection, so the latest has been the LEGO 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship. Still awaiting arrival of my Tantive IV and Invisible Hand, then I'll have the complete current Starships collection. Quote

This is a pretty good alt build on rebrickable which makes it look a lot better imo https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-184281/ron_mcphatty/sith-infiltrator-set-75383-mod/#details Quote

The biggest design flaw is obviously the thick nose, which doesn't fit the sleek elegant aesthetics of the ship at all. And i wouldn't say this compromise was worth the (admittedly cool) play feature. Unless i screwed up something in the building process, i never intentionally modified any of my sets, but i might look into this. Thanks for sharing. First, the set needs to arrive here; Lego's taking it's sweet time with shipping. Quote

For me one of the advantages of Lego versus model toys is that you can make the Lego set how you want. Quote

Yep, i just saw this alternative build is possible straight out of the box, no extra parts needed... that's even better. And of course, even though the focus on the building experience ain't that big anymore, Lego as a hobby still gives you the freedom to do whatever you want. On a level of ever present backwards compatibility and flexibility that other toys simply can't match. I remember how Lego was actually advertising vastly different, non-canonical builds on their instruction manuals... good times. Quote

Yeah I miss the alt builds on the back of the box, definitely something old Star Wars sets did better. Of course it probably wouldn't work today due to so many specialized pieces. Quote

Well, something tells me that even without all these specialized moulds, Lego wouldn't do those alternative builds anymore. Not for big licensed themes, that is. That's seemingly just not how they operate anymore. More than ever, they want you to invest lots of money to constantly buy new sets, not investing too much time rebuilding already bought ones. Might be completely wrong on this one, but this is how it feels like to me. The key pillar of the actual building experience is not a top priority for Lego anymore. Quote
BrickMonkeyMOCs Posted Tuesday at 10:50 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:50 AM I just built the new UCS AT-ST and am satisfied with it. It's a worthy successor to my now outdated 2006 model, with a more polished finish and adding a decent interior. I did find the construction of the feet to be oddly flimsy (and in a way that was easily fixed), and the seat backs are definitely better (and not too fragile) after replacing the stickers with actual 1x2 ingots. I quite like the outwards splay of the legs, and it's nice to have a more affordable UCS set on offer for once. Still waiting for that UCS Speederbike though. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted Wednesday at 09:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:59 AM Finally bought some 2025 LSW sets after indulging in no Lego purchases this year: - Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor - ARC-170 Starfighter - Rebel U-Wing Starfighter - Plo Koon Microfighter - Death Trooper and Night Trooper Battle Pack - V-19 Torrent - MTT - UCS Jango Fett’s Slave I (and scored the Kamino Training Facility GWP too). Wasn’t planning on buying all of these but some Lego Gift Cards and Insiders points (coupled with Amazon discounts) made this a more reasonable purchase. Quote

Sets now have a larger number of smaller pieces compared to a smaller number of larger, often more specialized ones. There was a channel called Brickbros UK that used to make alt-builds for probably half of all the star wars sets released between 2015 and 2019, though they dropped off the face of the earth years ago. People here like @Wurger49 keep the spirit alive. Quote

With this mod you can still fit one of the droids inside and you get a really good looking Infiltrator - best version to date for its scale if you ask me. Picked up the new K2SO for about $20 bucks after burning some Insider Points. Quote
