I see them holding off on the next HE till the series comes out. Its play a large role in the first movie.

Maybe? But it‘ll look almost identical anyway, if the show even gets sets in the first place :snicker:

At what point do I just buy Gringott's on Bricklink? There is a seller in South Korea who is selling it plus shipping $20 USD below the selling price in the US (with plenty of past sales to legitimize it). Factoring in the 5% back in Insider Rewards this is basically break even and it is available right now.

Shipping from South Korea to Virginia would be HIGHLY expensive.... and you might not even get it intact or even ever, due to customs. Poland to the midwestern USA was over 15 bucks before the tariffs existed and took almost a month to get to me, and SK is much further away than Poland, so I'd say double those numbers at least. My advice is to order from LEGO, @Virginia_Bricks.

Its not available in the US currently and while slated to retire this July so it could come back in stock, I'm becoming increasingly weary that it isn't actually already retired. I honestly don't care if it takes a month or two to get to me. And the seller says $85 to the US by sea and then a US carrier by road/plane to me which seems reasonable (guaranteed to be slow). Now it getting stuck at a port is what concerns me.

Has anyone ever emailed Lego Customer Service about an out of stock set near retirement and actually got a definite answer if it will come back in stock?

That would make a lot of sense. But if so why would they have retired the old one with a year to go instead of extending its EOL date till 2026?

Well something has to make space for other sets to be produced and that one was around for 2,5 years, so makes sense to retire it IMO.

Didn´t realise it would already retire that early, but this explains why it was on Sale during Insiders. I would think there will be new Sets restocked, or else they would have just let it retire end of last year.

Definitely. They cannot stray too far from the “look” because of the theme parks.

Random question: Does anyone surmise TLG will NOT be making a clock tower for this iteration? I held out on getting the Grand Tower…I cannot commit until I hear word of my favorite building being included.

Posted (edited)

I'd say there's a fair chance of it being left out. The Clock Tower was paired with the Hospital Wing in the last two iterations (2018 and 2021 system) but we've already gotten the Hospital Wing. Of course I've been shouted down for that particular argument before, so YMMV.

You have 6 months, It would be unheard of that Lego do not get it in stock during that time I think. Even B-bay that was sold out months of the time came back in stock several times, however sold out really fast each time..  Are there not other stores like amazon etc that have it in stock for less than retail or is it a Lego exclusive set? I would wait 5 of the 6 months before I would consider BL if its more expensive there in total..

Well considering that Hospital Wing is not located in the Clock Tower I would say that is not an argument against us getting one, actually if it was planned in the first place in this modular system then it only makes sense to have separate sets. Of course it doesn't mean that we are getting one...

On my priority list are central tower with gallery and bell towers. We already got great Clock and Astronomy towers which I can easily incorporate into my build but those two I bet will still be missing in the Eastern wing/Viaduct entrance set.

Have you checked for stock at the Lego retail stores? The online store in Canada lets you put in your address to check local stores for sold out items (sadly we don’t have any Lego Stores in Atlantic Canada). What about other toy retailers? In Canada we have Masrermind Toys and Toy R Us, there must be some other big toy retailers that might carry it. Best of luck getting Gringotts!

Clocktower to me is the least likely building due to its positioning behind the Great Hall and Main Tower which would make it have an exposed back in essence ruining the silhouette of Hogwarts Lego is trying to achieve.

I would‘ve liked to see a Clocktower (despite it already having been remade twice), mostly because it would‘ve been a neat opportunity to get a new Gambledore. With the East Wing likely being based on CoS, maybe we‘ll be more lucky with another expansion set :shrug_oh_well:

Just finished building Hagrid & Harry’s Privet Drive Escape & have been trying to see who those Death Eater masks are. One looks to be Bellatrix…but I can’t find a list of masks & who wore them, if they’re not all generic or unnamed.

It is kind of insane how we’ve only had two figures of Gambon’s Dumbledore and the last one was 7(?) years ago.

I would like to see a Clocktower (mainly because I didn’t get the last two!) but with two main POA scenes appearing in the Hospital Wing I’m not sure if they will do one. Obviously they could just put other scenes/rooms in the set but it would be a little odd given it’s mostly associated with POA. I also think what @RODDY said about the silhouette makes sense too.

It really is when you put it like that!

I'm currently listening to the new POA audible adaptation and it has renewed my want for a new fluffy Crookshanks. Re listening to the story has given me a new appreciation for that ginger furrball.

Personally very annoyed that they’ve done two different versions of Crookshanks but neither of them were particularly good. There are roosted and flying versions of Hedwig (both very accurate), a Pigwidgeon made just for the Owlery (he doesn’t even appear in the movies!), and while Scabbers is usually just the standard rat, the series 1 CMF included a unique version with a bald spot on the head. Crookshanks deserves an accurate version as well, but unless 76477 somehow includes him we’re out of luck for this year.

That said, we do have decent odds of getting a new fluffy Mrs. Norris in the East Wing.

I have listed to the 2 first and they are great audio-books I must say  The ones with Stephen Fry are nice, but this is the next level and probably cost a lot to make, recommend them to HP fans

I don't think Slytherin's could look better without walls...

I already moced a massive Hufflepuff and Slytherin one to pull out. I really hope I can just use those and they will make the official one just as bad as the Hufflepuff room.

What do you guys think? Amazon has pivet diverse escape for about 13€ now. I think that is a good price. I am not sure about the hospital wing for 77€. Do you expect much higher sales?

Well Privet Drive will probably hit 12€ sooner or later, at least for a short time, but 13€ are still ok I think, but I would definitely wait with the Hospital Wing if you´re not in a hurry to get it. It will surely drop beyond 65€ with time - and actually you can buy it for 72,90€ including shipping on Steinehelden right now, so far better deal than Amazon (and IMO also a way better shop).

Also, I think Brickmerge is a good way to check if prices are worth it and if a set is avaiable at many retailers (at least for germans).

Two thoughts:

The rumored $130 set could easily be a new Shrieking Shack. 3 of the possible 8 minifigures are currently in sets (Snape, Lupin, and Hermione) and it will have been 4 years since the last one. Gives you a new Sirius minifigure if the patronus set doesn't include him (and if it does its another easy repeat minifigure) and we had 3 years between the Pettigrew minifigures so seems about time for him. It was a $90 the last time, so with inflation that is roughly $100 now. It was on the higher end at 12 cents per piece so if that stays the same, it should be roughly 250 more pieces in a $130 set. That is enough to widen the house a little to add the bed to the upstairs room and create some stairs from the first floor. Also can build out the Whomping Willow a little better. If I had only one guess at that set, this seems like a good fit with other POA sets coming out last year and this year.

On the modular castle, what if the Sorting Hat Ceremony set was a quickly designed set so that when the big Great Hall retires a playset that kind of fits the Great Hall exists, so that 2027 doesn't need a new Great Hall playset? I still believe the Hospital Wing was designed as a way to quickly finish off the modular castle in 3 years and get all 4 common rooms plus major classrooms (DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, and Potions). Lego might have been told by WB they needed series sets for 2027 and since that will be PS, a great time to release a new smaller Great Hall playset. Well now the series is delayed at least to the summer of 2027, so they need another wave of film sets. I expect the East Wing was originally planned to include the Chamber and Slytherin Common Room to finish the series, but what if the Sorting Hat Ceremony set was going to be a $20 Divination classroom. Now they have moved the $20 Divination classroom to the Winter 2027 and release a new Astronomy Tower. The Sorting Hat Ceremony has one new print (Draco's face) but otherwise is repeat minifigures so easy to design and all the builds are simple. Something that Lego could design in 6 months easily.

This modular castle was has been very undiverse from a movie perspective. The 2021-2023 was almost evenly split between 4 movies (COS had 3 sets). This wave has 7 PS, 3 COS, 1 POA and 1 GOF. Going in the final year with another PS just seems odd unless it was a quick audible. If the East Wing doesn't contain the Slytherin Common Room that is clear evidence we have another facade set, but even if it does I'm still holding out hope Lego has an Astronomy Tower being designed. They could easily do the East Wing dungeons as just the Chamber of Secrets like the PS challenges filled an entire dungeon.

Of course Lego has originally designed this system for three years. With the series coming up as well as not knowing any sales number while for this system they needed to have planned the sets even more in advance.

That’s for the summer wave. For winter I think they didn’t plan too far in advance (3 years) and started with sets that are more or less (apart from the boat house) stand alone (Hagrids Hut, Owlery, Flying Lesson). Now with the hospital wing there is a change in my opinion. The first is it directly connects to the castle and they give us more detail interior than before, even it is still not perfect.

How I interpret things. They always wanted to keep options open to go longer if it is doing really well or there are some issues with the series. And now they did plan this set, remember they still need to do it in advance, with the clear intention yes we can continue, but it’s not a given. So they laid a connection to a potential Clock Tower set, but also give us some iconic scenes in case it won’t continue. So imo it is a set that keeps options open. But I think regarding the class room, they have understood people wanted to have them directly included in a better quality and that’s what we see.

If they only have three big sets for four common rooms it’s a bit tricky. And while everyone speeks about the Chamber the real question is what will be the interior of the upper floors. And I think probably in their first draft they would have maybe included the RC here and go with both of them in one set to finish things off.

My personal take is that they will continue with the winter wave and then it is finished and they will focus on the series. In general I think they focus on more well known exteriors like the Clock or Astronomy Tower rather than Long Gallery or Bell Towers. And after the hospital wing they don’t need filler sets. And the decision will be based on sales. If the big/expensive sets are doing really well, they might give us the Astronomy tower with a small side build for 200€ and if not so the Clock Tower (similar to 2019 just with underground instead of side build) for 120-150€

The usual place has a leak for the new CMF series (29). Characters will include a "cute witch" in case anyone wants to populate their wizarding worlds with new figs. There's also a "unicorn elf" of which there's already a picture, the outfit would work well for dress robes I think (it's yellow-skinned, though).

I’m definitely keeping my eye on the Cute Witch, and since the Unicorn Elf’s outfit doesn’t have anything that particularly screams unicorn about it, it’s safe to say that this will be an easy way to get your hands on the new unicorn mold released last year.

And for anyone wanting to expand their collection of baby dragons there will apparently be a recolor of the D&D one in reddish brown that will come with a Chocolatier – who is reportedly Willy Wonka inspired and therefore will probably have vaguely Victorian inspired clothing that will blend well with the wizarding world.

Kinda funny that we still haven‘t seen the hair & hat combo piece that was initially intended for Vidiyo in a HP set. It appeared in the Hocus Pocus set, D&D CMF, BAM, and now very likely in S30, but still hasn‘t been used for a random shopper or shopkeeper
