For like 10-20 minutes. Lion Knight's Castle went quicker, but Gringotts was the second set to sell out in the US for Insiders Weekend.

Ah intersting. LKC was gone within a minute, but I think Gringotts was avaiable for a way longer period. here.

In the process of building the Lovegood House and man this maybe a Top 5 favorite Lego Harry Potter set, they absolutely nailed this location, love all the crazy colors and crooked architecture. And the light feature is perfection.

Yeah, I really like how they realised it. If I didn't limit myself to Howgarts for space reasons I would 100% get it^^'

Should I get the great hall from Lego for double VIP points today or wait for a discount later? (it’s currently gone from amazon and other retailers in my country)

So no Privet Drive, Burrow nor the Knight Bus?

Not sure if I would rank it quite that highly myself (top 15 or even top 10 material for sure though), but it's definitely a very well-made set that stands out among the crowd :sweet: And yes, that is one of the best light brick integrations I've ever seen in a set, rivaled only by the Disney 100 projector GWP and a similar feature in a recent Friends set. The fact the window panels for that feature are all printed, just like they were in the other sets, adds a lot of value too!

Jup. I have a shelf full of Simpsons modulars (the 3 originals plus 2 mocs), a Display case with all lotr characters, one with all gotham characters, some outstanding sets like Wall-E... with the Hogwarts castle filling a living room table my collection is pretty close to the limit spacewise.

This is me too. There's just way too many locations in Harry Potter for me to buy all the sets that aren't at Hogwarts. I only have Diagon Alley that isn't a Hogwarts themed set, and as much as I love that set, I do regret getting it because I have no space. Particularly since I also collect Disney and Marvel. And am strongly considering getting into LOTR, which I've also avoided due to lack of space.

Yeah, that probably is the main problem for people nowadays, probably for many even before money. The good thing however is, if you regret getting the Diagon Alley you can always sell it off without losing money - probably better than to not have bought it and regretting that, since you would have to spend more for it now.

Yea I get that, there’s just so many great Harry Potter sets I can definitely see how you’d prefer others over it. We’ve been absolutely spoiled since the reboot imo.

One of the unknown sets is a buildable Norbert(a)!

Oh no, I’ve been skipping most of the buildable animal sets the past few years, but if they actually do a good buildable baby dragon I might not be able to resist.

I never get into buildable animals in my life but now someone said Noberta…. I will see how it looks.

Seeing as it’s creeping close to its retirement date, I would grab it now. Especially with double points going on.

So, looking at the piece counts vs. prices of the set leaks is interesting.

Knockturn Alley Shops, Hogwarts: East Wing, and Forbidden Forest: Expecto Patronum are all about what I’d expect, especially since they all involve large and/or new animal molds.

Hogwarts Crest and Dobby the Free Elf are also around what you’d expect for buildable display pieces. They’ve got a much better parts to piece ratio, but ultimately don’t have minifigures or large molded/printed pieces.

The Hogwarts Plants and Baby Norbert sets are interesting though.

The Plants apparently cost $100 for 817 pieces. To put it in perspective, if you search through the current Botanicals sets you’ll find one going for the same price (the winter Wreath) that has nearly 1200 pieces.

Likewise, Norbert costs $50 and only has 480 pieces, which isn’t bad, but it’s much closer to a playset than a buildable creature.

Norbert could be explained by the baby dragon featuring large custom molds and/or fabric wings (which would definitely be appreciated), but the ratio on the plants set is crazy. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is there might be a small sound brick for the theoretical mandrake build, although the price per piece ratio isn’t nearly as bad as the Sorting Hat set. I suppose the other option has be discussed before – that it’s name has been mistranslated and it’s not a themed Botanicals set at all, but another castle playset.

The Mandrake also had a high price per piece point without a light or sound brick. Same thing with the Thestrals.

So I'd guess some form of cloth piece for Norbert and the botanical set will just be expensive from some large pieces like the Fish Tank was.

Really hoping the other rumored set is true because all these non-play sets, while I'm sure they will look good, aren't worth it to reallocate the limited budget I have for Lego each year.

Yeah... If I go nuts I'll moc Springfield one day owning all 3 official buildings as well as a Moc of Moe's and the Androids dungeon already^^' I limited my lotr purchases to bag end... Was really tempted by Barad Dur. If they ever do the Erebor I'll have to get it.

At this point I just hope we will get Crookshanks and the Bloody Baron minifigwise and an Astrology Tower besides the east wing, who's siluette is already shown in the instructions. In the best case scenario another lesser known teacher.

My solution is to regularly disassemble sets. Most non-D2C sets in my collection only stay built for 2-3 years before being disassembled and bagged. It also helps scratch the itch to build a set without buying a new one, but building a set I already own. Beginning to disassemble the recent Hagrid's Hut to open up room for the Lovegood house and Hospital Wing sets.

Maybe one day I will have a larger Lego room and can have most everything built at once, but for now I'm content. Though it hurts your fingers way more to disassemble than to assemble.

Wait, so the only 3 play scale sets this next wave will be Knockturn Alley, Hogwarts East Wing, and Expecto Patronum? That’s kind of a bummer.

Did we determine the Dobby set is for sure a buildable Dobby and not a playset of Dobby being freed?

If there really are only those 3 sets with minifigures, we can expect the Expecto Patronum set to come with Harry’s stag patronus, and then maybe like Ron’s or Snape’s in Knockturn Alley and then theirs or Dumbledore’s (or maybe Ginny’s but I doubt hers would be prioritized) in the East Wing? That is kind of a letdown to only get 3 patronuses, unless they come in the buildable things sets, but I kind of doubt that.

There is no ‘if’ about getting Ron’s patronus – it’s just a matter of which set. Ginny might have a better shot than you think, since she’s got the double advantage of having a preexisting animal and casting it on screen.

The patronuses also haven’t been strictly confined to regular playsets either, since the Secret Potions Class includes Hermione’s Otter and is more of a buildable cauldron than a playset. Most of the ‘hidden room’ sets across themes have been plants, and we do have a plant based set with a weirdly mistranslated name and an unfavorable price to piece ratio, after all.

Looks like it, yes. Both Dobby and the plants thing have been leaked to be a buildable fig/Botanicals.

Someone in the Reddit comments mentioned another unknown set, 76478 with a list price of USD 130, but I haven't seen any of the well-known leakers confirm it.

76477 is also still unknown.

I've seen this mentioned a few times over on a certain sub-site. But does anybody else feel like this 'most detailed' Hogwarts edition is providing some less roomy interiors? Don't get me wrong, it's extremely accurate on the exterior, and I don't think anyone could realistically complain about it from that angle. But I've noticed the system has this super accurate external look of Hogwarts, yet a lot of the interior is built up on short amount of spaces. Not to mention the inaccuracy of certain areas, too.

The 2021 system may have been block-ey on the outside, but I think the interiors were mostly solid. If we compare the Dark Arts classroom with the Chamber of Secrets set, compared to the version we just got, it's pretty bland. It's mostly flat plates with some elements of a scene thrown together. It's also located underground. Hello? Don't get me started on transfiguration in the new system. I feel like had we had individual rooms based on classes, similar to the Polyjuice Potion mistake, they'd have had a fuller appearance than the system is currently offering. Rooms like Dumbledore's office in the new system also suffer from a lack of space. Now I get it, maybe this system isn't exactly intended for 'play', but it just seems a bit silly that I'm torn between which I prefer, when on paper the new system should have it all. But there are drawbacks. Big ones. I have every set, so it makes no difference. I'm just wondering if anyone feels the same? On the one hand, it's amazing to have that outside 'look' of Hogwarts. But I really do think when the interiors for 2021 got it right, they were unmatched (currently).
