R0Sch Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I think TLG will just use reddish brown for the parts (e.g. log liftarm in the Harvester), because a new metallic color would blow their budget, so the car will look like a brown turd with lots of blue and yellow pins and axles sticking out. Quote

Disclaimer: Picture below is gendered by Gemini Nano Banana AI tool. It is not a picture of real set, just an impression of the product based on the specific prompt. The idea of the picture is to get the common sense if 1:8 scale hyper car in reddish brown colour would look like a brown turd Edited March 13 by Oh_Hi_Mao Quote
Jim Posted March 13 Posted March 13 That sure is a nice render. I am definitely not conviced reddish brown should be the color. Quote
GoldVillage Posted March 13 Posted March 13 20 cars now... what an absolute joke these idiots has become. We should do our best to make sure that these idiots go out of business - avoid buy anything Quote
Thirdwigg Posted March 13 Posted March 13 They wouldn't do a brown supercar, right? Could they? There's no way. Quote

Maybe jurassic park fans are flocking to the lego store to buy it for the meme. So this might be a really successfull color idea for all the wrong reasons;). Sorry if this is again little bit off topic;). Quote
Jim Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Lol. This one is okay I highly doubt brown will be appealing enough to put on the shelves. Quote

R0Sch Posted March 13 Posted March 13 The only "brown" 1:8 hypercar anyone should buy is the Maserati Gran Turismo. That one is done properly in a really nice metallic brown copper and fully motorized too. Quote
DrJimbo Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Supercars need to be in supercar colours. In real life, and in Lego. Otherwise what’s the point? Quote

But they didn’t match the soft axle colour to the metallic colour of the car… and it still looks like a turd when you compare it to the nicer blue version they made of the same model. Maybe Lego could pull off a reddish brown colour and make it look good, but I still don’t think it would be the best or most popular looking colour. Quote
Anio Posted Tuesday at 11:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:43 PM What about Dark Brown ? That could be nice. Quote
Johnny1360 Posted Wednesday at 10:46 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:46 PM After my recent experience with dark brown, that is one vehicle I would steer clear of, nothing like watching your parts crumble like potato chips upon disassembly to avoid usage. Quote
AVCampos Posted Wednesday at 11:49 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:49 PM Wasn't the problem with regular reddish brown instead of dark, and wasn't that problem solved years ago? Quote
Johnny1360 Posted Thursday at 12:09 AM Posted Thursday at 12:09 AM Yes I stand corrected, reddish brown, regardless, as near as I can figure the parts in question are, as near as I can figure 6 to 8 years old. However they became brittle over a period of time, they didn't start out brittle, that is what I find concerning. They were not subjected to harsh environments either and the failure rate is close to 50%, so far and I am sure the degradation is continuing. Quote
MarkyMark42 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I do wonder if the Koenigsegg will test the market for the large supercar line. I personally don't see it having the same popularity as it is definitely more of a niche brand compared to the likes of Ferarri, Porsche, Lambo etc. The casual fan/builder can walk past and see one and think "cool a Ferrari, I might get that" compared to maybe "what's that? Koenigsegg! Never heard of it" Just a thought, be interested to see if I'm alone in those thoughts. Me though, I'm looking forward to it Quote

Me though, I'm looking forward to it While Koenigsegg are smaller than the global manufacturers, they have significant brand presence, as we can see from their other Technic & Speed Champion sets. In this regard, they are on the same level as Bugatti, another low-volume but well-known supercar manufacturer, albeit Bugatti are part of the VAG group. I thnink for the casual fan, using a 'halo' car matters just as much as the brand. After the 911, all the 1:8 supercars have been based on flagship models in terms of status (Daytona SP3) or performance (the rest). Quote

Yeah, my opinion koenigsegg, bugatti and pagani are at same level small manufacturers but they are really well known. Pagani cars are truely an art piece. While Bugatti and koenigsegg focuses on raw perfomance, speed and horsepowers, and its cool and impressive that Koenigsegg and Bugatti both have over 1000hp engines while koenigsegg uses smaller V8 instead of the bugatti's bigger W16, and still both can go 400km/h:). Don't worry, because I think all these brands will eventually show up. LEGO doesn't seem to want to repeat brands right now; maybe we'll only see repeats once they've gone through all of them once. That said, when exactly will info on 42242 come out? I feel like I’ve been waiting for it forever. Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I'm pretty excited about it being a Koenigsegg myself, to be honest! It's always struck me as the engineer's choice among supercars, where they pull off some wild engineering ideas, for no particular reason other than that it's cool. I think that's the ethos I like to see in Lego Technic, so I'm pleased with the choice! Quote
Satisfied Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Also, do you think 42242 could be the lotus we mentioned earlier? Quote

Oh_Hi_Mao Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 5 hours ago, Satisfied said: Also, do you think 42242 could be the lotus we mentioned earlier? Generic Lotus Sports car is what we are missing in this year's Technic Line up. I have no more wishful thinking for the remaining three (or one) sets which yet to be revealed. Technic theme shifted to the other direction I would prefer and that is okay, because a lot of people enjoy collecting cars like I enjoyed collecting heavy duty machinery and helicopters. Today I bought 42053 from eBay. It was the last old set which I was aiming to own. Maybe it is good time to start looking for another hobby Quote
