So, what be the exact colour of his torso? It seems red, though I be not familiar with all the new colours introduced in the last three years.

It looks like it's the new Reddish Orange.

So I see, strange, in this light the colour seems very much red. Suppose I will have to purchase some reddish orange bricks.

The torso itself seems like a close copy of the new Captain Redbeard's jacket:

It looks like the pirate is actually a Dreamzzz character, like the others from the BAM line-up. He has the dream chasers hourglass emblem on the back.

BOOO! I was hoping to pick one up, but if that's the case - no sale!

It's a rather subtle addition to the pirate's diagonal belt, so it kinda works out well. Picture is available at promobricks.

Is that the hourglass shape incorporated into the buckle near his shoulder?

The hourglass also appears in this artwork for example:

Dutch orange "pirates", taking the spanish silver of course. (1628)

They used an orange flag for a while :

I was able to pick up two of these (along with the light blue Classic Space torso) and I really like them! The orange color suggests maybe a faded red that's been outside too long, and the details on the jacket pop nicely. It's also not ragged and worn the way Barracuda's Redbeard and the Pirate Captain's torso are, so it fills a nice niche that can be either pirate, merchant, or officer if you so choose. I actually quite like the Dream Chaser logo design on the belt; I wouldn't have minded too much if it was on one of the front buckles. Plus, they still had the Redbeard tiles in the BAM area, so I was able to get another one of those too!

Isn't that the flag of Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie a.k.a Dutch East India Company?

And therefore merchants rather than pirates would fly it?

Didn't the VOC do quite some reaving/plundering/assault and even open warfare themselves in their time? :poke:

I'm not bothered by the hourglass on the back of the torso.   It's subtle enough that it just looks like part of the buckle.  I'll be grabbing a few of these on my next trip to the LEGO Store.

Yeah it wasn't a very peaceful time, even if some major events in the west indies like the capture of the silver fleet, or surrender of New Netherland/New Amsterdam did not have many casualties.

While at the mainland of Europe, there were ongoing wars.

It is, it was mainly an example of the orange/white/blue flags used during the era, by both West and East India companies.

I'm not saying LEGO should really go into real history much however, but if Redcoats, Bluecoats, Armada etc exist, a Dutch faction would not be out of place, however, I'm not saying they should make them.

In terms of LEGO Sets, 2026 would be good time to revisit the Armada, it would be 30 years since those 1996 sets, and the 3-in-1 Pirate ship is retiring, so something like an Armada Flagship could be nice to see.

Having seen how small the Dreamzzz logo is, and how well integrated it is into the buckle, I rescind my earlier criticism. I was afraid it was on the back of the torso as part of the coat at a much larger size, but am glad to have been proven wrong.

I'll get one, at least (Maybe two?) at some point.

Well I am!  :pir-grin: There definitely should be a Dutch faction, focused more on merchants, rather than pirates, because we've already got plenty of pirates. Give us something a bit different!

And I think they should make such minifigures and sets distinctly Dutch by borrowing motifs from history and then putting a LEGO spin on them.

The same way the Fleur-de-Lis on the blue coat flag, or the the Imperial Armada minifigures wore morions, even though they'd fallen out of fashion by time the Golden Age of Piracy hit its peak.

But little details like those make the factions feel distinct to the nationalities that inspired them.

I also concur!
