That retractable landing gear is more technic than any 1:16 car transporter car.

Definitely. And it's far from the only one, just look at the Dune ornithopter or the recent Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine.

Or the Concorde (10318).

*snip*

Sweet heavens I remember being absolutely in love with the complexity of the Concorde build, it's probably my favourite Lego building experience ever. It's got the entire suite of construction techniques - Technic, small bricks for SNOT, large City clamshells, long beams, tiles, C-clips. It's got everything. Having watched Balazs' review of the Shuttle Carrier, it looks like it's gonna be even more interesting than the Concorde, even if the final thing's aesthetics look a bit dated. The only thing that's probably not gonna be as enjoyable is the Shuttle, it looks like a kinda boring and basic build

Indeed! Just last weekend I built the Concorde, after borrowing the disassembled set from a friend. While the landing gear mechanism is marvelous, to me the building experience was not perfect, because there was no moment,  even during the build, where its entire operation could be observed and admired. Essential parts of the mechanism get covered up before it's fully functional, and then you have to push an axle into a hole of the mystery box, and suddenly it all connects and works. Great stuff, but not 100% satisfying to my Technic heart. :drunk:

I love the large dalmation set but I will try to convert the joints into the new reinforced click joints that came in set 76968 (unless theres a more appropriate solution), The aim is more posability while still being rigid.

This set has those joints as well:).

That set has 4 of those joints, so perfect for the dalmatian:).

Thanks to racingbrick, the new lego art set 31216. Has technic beam with centre axle hole. This appeared in some star wars set, in early of this year:).

Hi everyone, this is how Chris Stamp tried to put more functions and features into a tiny package from RacingBrick

I wish Technic is designed with the same approach, but alas...

This is such a nice peek behind the scenes, it's great to have some understanding of how things are designed, and lots of really interesting details here!

I wonder if the Technic teams is open for such interviews or not. Have you tried something similar with them @kbalage? I remember something a few years back about PU development, but not much about technic in general. Wouldn't Grohl be open for such an interview for example?

Some designers (very few) are open to interviews and willing to talk about all aspects of their work, others only talk about specific sets they have designed, and some others are not approachable. I share everything I can, and believe me, I am constantly trying to reach more people. Let's not forget one thing - this is the designers' job in a highly confidential environment, so it's understandable if someone chooses not to share rather than make a mistake.
