lmdesigner42 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Nice little SUV! At first glance, it seems almost as realistic as the much larger 42177. And two more types of fenders/mudguards in a unique colour to add to your collection :). I wonder if that off-road tire pattern will come in any more sizes? This is the third size, and I believe there were only three for the tractor tire pattern. Quote
gyenesvi Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I really like this! Looks quite good for the size, for me recognizable, and I love the new parts, finally flat wheel arches with flares, I hope this becomes a trend for more sizes as well, the new tires are great and the fact that is has suspension at such a size is pretty cool! I actually think these small scale cars have a very positive effect on the parts inventory, forces them to introduce new parts for tighter builds. I wonder how the front suspension is built, what springs it uses and whether there's a new steering link as well!? Quote

I think it uses a ball joint live axle in the back and independent suspension with 4L steering links in the front. Quote

Unfortunately not, the 360 view shows that the 5x7 frame which houses the rear differential is pinned at both ends, which means it's pendular. Bit of a shame but hey Quote

Bit of a shame but hey Honestly I think thats better. The ball joint suspension is never satisfactory to me, it takes lots of space, isn't fully realistic, and the suspension doesn't really operate that smoothly. At least on the ford raptor, that is. 9398 was okay. I think if they're gonna do it in an unrealistic way, why not at least make sure it works well? Of course, this is all assuming that the pendular suspension functions properly... Quote

It's pretty easy to do in part designer yourself by changing the size to 7x2.75x7 studs. Yes please. May I trouble you for the new fender flare as well? Quote

Auroralampinen Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Here is partial parts list:). https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacement-parts/missing/42213/pieces?search=* Quote

Zerobricks Posted May 2 Posted May 2 One more thing to add. The set has 3 shock absorbers, so I think the ones in the rear keep the pendular axle leveled and the third one is shared by both sides of the front suspension to act as a suspended pendular axle. Quote
SNIPE Posted May 3 Posted May 3 WHY OH WHY did they not just use a RED stud-pin! they come in red, but they used a dark bluish gray stud-pin! (near the tail-light, connected to a red tile1x1 round with bar & peghole Quote
Stereo Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I started thinking about which sets these tires suit, and are a direct size swap... 42122 Jeep Wrangler obviously. But also 42111 Dom's Charger and 42127 The Batman Batmobile. (well, really the 1989 Batmobile alt build of it. Much cooler than the set imo) Maybe also good for a lot of those 56mm tractor tire RC trial trucks. Quote
Erik Leppen Posted May 3 Posted May 3 It might be just me, but it looks like there are #7 angle connectors in the front in black and red, around the headlights. Quote

Timorzelorzworz Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The model is steered with the spare wheel from the back as HoG which is pretty nice. Quote
1gor Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) ...after reading all posts perhaps we should lower our expectations...remember that Lego introduces minimal ammount of new parts as possible. When Jeep was announced and puctures with new tractor tires appeared we were thrilled with set snd st end it was just that - new tires...perhaps Bronco has only rear wheel drive... ...as usuall @R0Sch will solve mistery... Because the jeep had no differential or engine. So this is a huge improvement over the jeep:). Quote

It will only be rear wheel drive. Theres a few hints. The reddish brown cross axle holding the front wheels. But also, if you zoom in on this image you can see the lower towball of the wheel hubs is DBG, so it will be using this piece, same as in 42124... Because of the scale I can forgive it though. Quote

That was my.initial thought when I saw reddish brown (most likely 3L with stop) axle at the front wheel. But it looks very nice small set. Quote
SNIPE Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) I'm gonna try to give it 4WD and shocks all round but the engine may or may not take up too much space. I could make the crankshaft out of three 2853 to save space. The front will be pendular too unless these new links and CV joints can make a small enough fully independent suspension system. (I can also use the rims from set 10295 to save 1L either side. Are the new CV joints reinforced or classic? Edited May 5 by SNIPE Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 5 Posted May 5 New CVs are classical, otherwise the Skyline would have used hubs from 42160 on all wheels. But this model doesn't use any new Cvs, only new 4 stud steering links. Quote
R0Sch Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Btw, this set also introduces 1x9 flip-flop beam in red (used on doors). Quote
