Disclaimer: There is absolutely zero logic here.

How is it that I have a star wars MOC wave half done, two D2C sized MOCs partially made, and two more MOC waves and Ideas projects in the pipeline but THIS is the one I ended up finishing quickly?

Alright, so if you're blissfully unaware of what's going on here, this is a culmination of layers upon layers of in-jokes and irony stemming from the 2024 Batman thread, mainly that:

A: The current state of lego DC is so dour and solely batman oriented that Superman, one of the main DC characters, getting his first figure (and just from a mech at that) in 5 years is considered a massive win for the theme

B: We had a set last year that included three batman, two jokers, and no one else, just to reinforce that first point.

C: That "Aslume" thread has reached a self-replicating layer of insanity and in-jokes, including one user's worship of the CMF demolition dummy figure from 2010, another's love for Andor villain Dedra Meero, and an overall lack of on-topic conversation

This is meant as a joke, so I didn't spend a ton of time on it, which means no custom prints, no real building techniques, etc.

The idea behind this is, I guess, that it's a celebration of Superman finally getting another figure, as well as a spoof of the X-men Hellfire Gala event which'll be showing up in Marvel Rivals in a bit.

The%20Soupfire%20Gala.png

Alright, so... let's try to break down what's going on here, I guess. This is a series of vignettes based on different user in-jokes in eurobricks threads. As should be immediately apparent to anyone who knows what a Gala is, I do not, and assumed it was just like a party or dance.

Soupfire%20Gala%207.png

Alright so here's the main floor of the Gala, where users such as @Lego Nostalgia, @psqidexslizer, and @BrickBob Studpants dance along with Superman, several Batman and Jokers, and some other Aslume characters.

Soupfire%20Gala%208.png

A look around back. I assume most Galas don't have disco balls but I felt it's what Superman (that's where the soup in soup-simmered-on-a-medium-heat gala is coming from, it's just a play on his name that's been around for a bit now) would have wanted. There's also a table with some superman cookies.

I felt like a big dance floor was kind of boring so I made some smaller builds for other members based on their recent activity in the thread.

Soupfire%20Gala%204.png

Here's MandalorianKnight, @ARC2149Nova, @Swordy, and @CloneCommando99 sitting around a holotable brainstorming characters.

Soupfire%20Gala%205.png

A look around the back. This was mainly just an excuse for me to make another set of stairs, I like using this set of two plate high stairs with alternating studs.

SoupFire%20Gala%202.png
Here's @Renny The Spaceman (Wearing Demo Dummy cufflinks) summoning Demolition Dummy on an alter of candlesticks and dummy minifigures. He forms himself out of the four primordial elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Cheese.

Soupfire%20Gala%203.png

Here's @Murdoch17 and @Agent Kallus chilling out. Gotta ice those puns, guys. Snow way you were getting a different vignette.

SoupFire%20Gala%206.png

And finally @THELEGOBATMAN with Dedra Meero. That heart isn't a physical standee, they're generating that.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go contemplate whatever life choices led me to spend a few hours working on this for a bit...

And everyday I wake up thankful for it.

Oh my… everyone looks so very dapper. I really like your style and stairs.

The dance floor is an insanely good metaphor for the 2024 DC theme itself— HOLY COW! IS THAT MAN AND LUIGI?!! Peak.

Are we playing holochess in teams or are 2 people watching? But that doesn’t matter because you did it! You remembered Womp Rat!

Are you sure you actually built the 3rd image? It just looks like you got @Renny The Spaceman’s daily routine on camera. (Uj/ hilarious build, kinda making me fear the omnipotence of Dummy)

4th one is a cold build ngl.

What’s going to happen to them when Andor S2 ends?

It really does look that accurate, isn't a daily routine though. Dummy usually just takes a bus. He was feeling quirky that night.

Great work as always @Mandalorianknight, it's a fun display with a lot of personality

All right everyone, chill. I'm here.

@Mandalorianknight Thanks for the inclusion of my sig-fig. This is a very cool series of vignettes, and I hope you continue with the Aslume theme in the future. Now, If you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy an ice-cold Dr Pepper. (No, really!)

Thank you!

Yeah there's a number of Aslume characters present- Man is wearing an old suit he found in his closet alongside a Joker wig, and holding a Beetle and some Juice.

My thought process was moreso that we were designing characters on the holotable, but I like the idea that it's a holochess match and two people are just sitting there watching.

Took me forever to get it, too, like he said Dummy usually just takes the bus, so it wouldn't have been as interesting of a build.

At the end of Andor Season 2, Vader is about to choke Dedra to death when Cyborg Superman appears, goes "I'll save you Dedra!", and portals both of them away. The disney execs are really worried about copyright infringement but they did promise to give Gilroy creative control...

Yeah- I imagine it takes a bit to convince Dummy to go to something like a gala, hence having to summon him out of the primordial elements, but I imagine in general he'd just take the bus or crash a car.

Thank you!

That's why I threw all that context out to start it- dropping these images with no setup has to look absolutely unhinged to anyone who isn't active on that thread.

This, this is beautiful… I’ve been staring at it for ten hours trying to compose my thoughts.

It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. We’re changing the society (we truly live in), one EB thread at a time.

Insanity is in the top 3 most powerful compulsions… I think love and money are the other two, but both the website and cookies are free, and all the love I see his @THELEGOBATMAN and Dedra.

Haha, Turtle has orange juice to go with his cookies. Nice.

Who is the Asgardian-looking fellow in the tree with I’m assuming Adam West?

Loving the holographic table (because I narcissistically like seeing myself, lol)—and you included a generic police officer to represent my childhood obsession with LEGO police that coincidentally is the exact same as the original minifig that inspired it all for me! XD

Given that you seem to be in a relaxed pose (as any designer of a MOC should do with his character), that means it would be me versus @CloneCommando99, aka Chiss Fanboy #1… I don’t expect to win in any case.

So Dummy’s arrival was the sneak-peek you showed! I got to be honest, I thought you had constructed a microbuild GwP representing the immates escaping the Aslume (with colourful flames… because raisins). It makes a lot more sense now.

Technically I should be in the Ice Lounge with @Agent Kallus and @Murdoch17. After all, I made snow many puns…

The last build is very wholesome—well, as wholesome as any relationship with an intelligence officer working for a dictatorial regime can be.

Always enjoy seeing your MOCs. Keep up the great work!

If I ever make a third build to cap off the trilogy (ideally because the theme returned, but just as likely because they just folded Batman into Icons), it'll be a tower of fate with every single user who ever posted in the aslume thread.

Soup and insanity. Truly, my life's work.

That's actually man, with a Beetle and some Juice referencing another famous role by the Man actor. As for the "asgardian", check the transformers thread or the Jurrasic World one and you'll understand.

Yup, the officer was meant to represent the Police Commander Police and all those guys.

Oh yeah, if I was playing chess I'd be hunched over that table like Chewie was removing my arms if I lost. Good luck against Thrawn's Acolyte.

Yeah, it was the Dummy Alter- Not that I put a ton of hours into this but I would have tried to replicate my aslume build a little better if I was doing a microscale.

You did, but I had my four-sided stair thing and since you were in both parts of the thread I made the executive decision to maximize the stair build I like.

Yeah no they definitely torture dissidents as part of date night. :shrug_confused: but what can you do.

Exactly, as said before he's not big on high society , he'd much rather spend a night bowling than at a gala. The fact he was willing to make such a brief appearance at all says a lot about his great selflessness.

He even put on a bow tie for the occasion. It truly shows how much he respects Soup that he'll come to a gala for his big lego set appearence.

I will neither confirm nor deny that that's who it's meant to represent, nor whether or not it's Turtle. (I don't know anything more than the rest of you about it, but I have my own theory.)

It might be slightly more similar to an 1800s westerner with a Japanese culture obsession- isolationist civilization with a very different but just as technologically advanced society. Wim from Skeleton Crew I would say is more of a weeb, but even then the jedi were real, so he's more of like one of those kids who wants to be a cop or soldier or paramedic when they grow up.

Welcome back, sir. You are absolutely correct, purple grass would have been much more in-line with the Aslume.

I am trying to say that Scarecrow takes some kind of medicine. Powder or something and then his victims see weird stuff. That's why in that universe even the grass is not green. There is nothing normal. BUT that MOC is very creative. It just has to be done again with different colours. Then you will understand what I mean.

Maybe. The difference is that most people in the SW galaxy can’t just move to the Ascendancy that easily, so the infatuated fascination makes more sense, in my opinion.

The fact he randomly shows up here randomly is another point toward that theory. Just don’t get him banned again; he’s the hero we need, even if he isn’t the one we deserve.

We're gonna ignore the fact that the only time you've seen Arkham is in lego DC supervillains and just continue-

Apologies, in a weird way Police Leader Police actually does feel like it makes more sense than Police Commander Police.

I'm taking the word back, it's a sick sounding term and I won't let it be so prominently associated with that onscreen media that I hesitate to call a star wars show.

To be fair, Bionicle Gen 2 was all about being unfinished and unrushed, and even towards the end of G1 we had:

2008: This is all going really well. People are gelling with the Toa Inika, but they also want the Nuva back. Quick, let's swap the Inika out for the Nuva in the third phase of our trilogy, and then also swap around the colors to change which set is which character, it's not like elements and characters have notable silhouettes or designs, right? Nobody's going to tell that Gali was supposed to be Onua!

2009: The story that we just unnecessarily complicated is getting too unnecessarily complicated for kids to catch up, instead of concluding the main story and setting our heroes on a new adventure, let's do a full soft reboot with a new cast to keep things simple! The main character is literal god, who's body has been possessed by the literal devil, and he's actually just a mask that's using divine power to project a corporeal form. The mask will be represented in his set by a helmet. It all takes place on a post-apocalyptic planet, but for completely unrelated reasons to the devil stealing the god's body... (Proceeds to drop like three years worth of lore in one year.)

2010: Fans are mad about our soft reboot and new kids aren't getting drawn in to our super simple post apocalyptic outcast god story? Scrap the theme but put out one last wave using the cheapest and most hated figure template. (I actually don't fault the designers for that last bit, they fought with lego to get any sort of last wave at all and consequently had a budget of twelve dollars)
