I don't know why, but I just looked at the Shock Trooper mech again and it made me laugh. It's not even a bad set, I think it's probably the best set of those in the leaks? But that's why I find it funny I suppose, it's ridiculous that this is what LSW is coming to. Hopefully the rest of the year looks a bit better.

Latter part, not point, but you're right, I should have clarified that I think your latter statement that lego just didn't see a reason to switch off the blue clones was more likely than your original statement that lego didn't want to cannibalize sales of the AT-TE.

Which isn't actually impossible- it's not exceedingly likely that 2HY includes much in the way of smart bricks. However, I still think that its doomed to be a $60 wolfpack battle pack and big $180 UT-AT with some 41st troopers.

I don't think that's really comparable, they've all been vastly different scales. Back when people complained about Luke's Landspeeder it was because it would be the same scale and often a very similar build every 3 years like clockwork.

In my defense, while it is disgustingly oversized, it's still not oversized to the point of being worth $30. 

I still can't believe it's thicker at the bottom of the ostensibly circular main body than the top. Even it being fully square would have been better than that. What possibly reason do they have for this? Why not just place those elements one stud higher up and get at least slightly more accurate shaping?

No, you're totally on point with this, it is really funny because it's somehow the best set of the wave. The non-canon mech- worse than a generic non-canon speeder or something from a battle pack, because it's literally not a vehicle archtype used by any major factions in SW- is somehow the best set.
