So, with the official reveal of the One Piece sets, first thing I thought was 'oh, cool new minifigure parts!', and then at the third set Brickset shows, there's a Luffy with very long, bendy arms.
And now all I can think is, "why the MegaBlocks didn't LEGO use that for Reed Richards?! :cry3: :damn: "

Superheroes got very little budget this year.

But it's inclusion in the One Piece Is Real theme would mean they really don't need that much budget, as it wouldn't be a new mold per se. Are we at the point where even a part recolor is too much to ask?

I feel like the only reason they gave Luffy those arms in one of the sets was that he was in multiple sets. They don't want the only version of him to be long arms. I believe they had a lot of cases of people cutting the rubber arms to add standard arms when they did Kamala like that. And so maybe they don't want to encourage that by making another character just in the rubber arms style? But they again if they'd given reed the same torso as the others that wouldn't have been so much of a problem!

And then they could've given the 'unique' torso for Johnny and have it be red. Part of me wonders if the flame off design is partly because they don't want to do a trans torso, that's the excuse they said when asked about star wars ghosts, even though in both cases neither characters are that translucent so a solid colour without any transparency would be fine!

This. Thank you, I couldn't find the right words when I first read DocLord's reply.

I just think it's absolutely ridiculous they couldn't have gone the extra mile (which it isn't even, really) and added a blue version of special arms which they were clearly already making to the F4 sets,,,

Total speculation on my part, but maybe if the mold was redesigned / resurrected specifically for One Piece, they wouldn't want that to be 'cheapened' by it appearing in a set for a different theme before the reveal?

I doubt that‘s the way they‘re thinking. After all, the snail piece might have been developped with the den den mushi in mind, but they simultaneously appear in the new Animal Crossing sets as well :shrug_oh_well:

That's fair, but there could be a difference in logic between a fun little detail element and like, THE main character of each?

But yeah, who knows

One Piece is the favourite newborn in the LEGO family, like Fortnite last year and Pokémon next. They pour all their love into a new market to grab the IP’s fanbase and the core AFoLs as well. Marvel had plenty of love at first too, but since TLG knows they can still sell as well with a cheaper budget, they do so. Then the theme has fewer sales, and they’re “justified” in lowering the budget and raising prices. Fortnite’s sets this year haven’t been as well received as those last year due to a slightly less exciting lineup, and I believe the same will be true of One Piece in a year’s time.

Let’s be honest: the FF set would’ve sold the same number of copies whether Mr. Fantastic had stretchy arms or Human Torch was flamed on or not. The FF in LEGO form is the appeal, and that’s as much as TLG delivered. To me that speaks to the staying power of Marvel and the Fantastic Four as much as LEGO’s brand.

It would've sold at least one more copy if it had those, I can tell you that much.

I can only speak for myself, but I have skipped over plenty of Marvel sets purely because of a seeming lack of effort and on the flipside have considered buying sets from themes I wasn't even a fan of purely because of the love and attention that was poured into it.

Recent example: I skipped out on the Spiderverse set despite being a HUGE fan of the movies. The spiderman minifigures (Miles and Gwen) were lackluster and I couldn't understand the need for a set based on the least exciting part of the film (not even talking about that atrocious price) They're rectifying this effort with the Spiderverse CMF, which looks excellent. However, I am considering buying the new Ninjago Legends sets, despite having outgrown Ninjago for 8 years now, purely because they look incredible. Effort and care shows, and I don't think the designers are to blame at all, they must be as frustrated with these restrictions as we are.

I'd imagine it's because they believed the set would sell on its own with the characters included in the current state.

They could use the alternative looks for potential Avengers: Doomsday sets, if they keep the same costume this gives more justification for the characters to be featured. Would definitely help playability for Avengers: Doomsday sets if the versions of the characters featured translucent segments for Invisible Woman, Red/Flame effects for Human Torch and stretchable arms for Mr.Fantastic.

Makes sense considering they'd probably have been focused on Avengers: Doomsday for next year, which is now pushed back and will likely be pushed back again.

Watching new(ish) Spidey and his amazing friends with the kids this morning - including Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur which would have been great in Lego. Looks like next batch of episodes are pirate/water themed! Fingers crossed for a Spidey pirate ship with Jeff the land shark (surely the only chance of getting him in Lego) in January ‘26!

I'm sure it's just for the water=shark association for kids or whatever, but it's very funny to me that Jeff the LAND shark would be showing up in the water arc.

I still think Rivals has a chance- it's still massively popular, and doesn't seem to be showing signs of having a short lifespan- the amount of characters they could add that people would go nuts for is, on the lower side, in the dozens. Not to mention that with lego's big 18+ collectible push, I'd be shocked if a Buildable Jeff wasn't already in development. It's essentially another Baby Groot for lego. (And it'd even make more sense for there to be a venomized one than it did for baby groot- especially if the rumors about next season are any indication...)

So I feel like around a month from now is when we're supposed to be getting leaks for the 2026 winter sets? I have some guesses and predictions for the 2026 Winter Wave and I'm curious what y'all think:

76337: (Comics based) Thanos Mech

76338: (Comics based) Iron Spider Mech

76341: MCU Sanctum Sanctorum based on Doctor Strange 1 (Using the Oscorp/Peter's Apartment/ATSV set modular style)

76342: Infinity War Titan Battle Diorama

76343: Fantastic Four First Steps Fantasticar (shoutout to @Buckethead for making me aware of the rumor that we MIGHT get a second F4 set next year)

76344: Venom Bust

Of course the three 4+ sets (11206-11208) are Spidey and his amazing friends based, and I feel like sets 76334, 76335, and 76336 are DC  based sets.

I think Cap and/or Thor will be the next mech sets, probably with Loki and Red Skull as the enemies, although it would be a good opportunity to get comic Zemo.

All peak, although they'd probably make the Sanctum based on Infinity War so they can reuse already existing minifigures.

Don't count on it lmao

There's still the Iron Man preschool show coming at some point, that might get some sets like the Spidey 4+ range.

I think this is actually a pretty good estimate.

It’ll be 19 inches right?

I hope so. But I’ve given up hope of a GL mech at this point.

It is probably going to be a year or two from now, but would it be possible to have another Marvel CMF that is covering multiple characters? Or is Lego likely to follow up this Spidey CMF with another one that is focused on only one character or group? (I would not mind an X-Men CMF. LOL)
