sammy_zammy Posted April 23 Posted April 23 The Hogwarts Main Tower is incredible! (Apart from the Devil’s Snare section, which Lego has decided to continue its tradition of dropping the ball on lol) Quote

The set also includes baby Fawkes, the sorting hat, and the sword of Gryffindor I guess we’ve now seen some sort of leak for all of the June sets besides the Thestral one! A phoenix chick Fawkes?! Yes! I can’t wait to collect it and Fluffy! Not sure about Testral mold, is it new? Quote
Virginia_Bricks Posted April 23 Posted April 23 3 visible pins on the back of this set (probably 4, but the chess module is hiding that area). None it appears on the side that would connect to the Viaduct Entrance. So either the back pins will be used for that connection and a set in between or they won’t physically connect. Assuming we get a Viaduct entrance. It also seems possible those pins are for connecting towards the Clocktower area. Quote

The phoenix and the Thestral are brickbuilt, however moulds for both of them exist ( not a chick version though) Quote
mark1991t Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) So the Griffin Statue is there after all. Hufflepuff student is Ernie Macmillan. Ravenclaw student is Lisa Turpin. Quidditch-slytherin is Marcus Flint. There are some collectible portraits, but can not see how many of them. Fat Lady portrait is based off of the first 2 films. Edited April 23 by mark1991t Quote

The connection point to the Great Hall would be on the side of the set (left from the front, right from the back view), which isn't visible from these photo angles. There's a thumbnail showing the two connected. Quote
Huigberts Builds Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Oh wow wow, wow. That settles is, this is my favourite Fluffy. The Fat Lady Portrait actually being a functioning door this time. Dumbledore's Office looking the most accurate ever, even included the Griffin gargoyle statue on the back of the stairs. This looks awesome Speaking of the stairs, so glad they're actually funcional, they can actually bring you from 1 floor to another. And the room is filled with a decent amount of portraits. The Gryffindor Dormitory and common room are looking great. Beds are a bit simplistic and we can probably forget about Sirius in the fireplace, but other than that it ticks all the boxes of what you could possibly want from that place. The trial rooms look way better than with the last Fluffy encounter set. Actually got the key segments and the devils snare looks way better, although it still can't hold a candle to the original sets, where they actually had a play function. And the entire thing about winged keys is that they have wings. I wish child me didn't lose the wing elements D:. It still looks great for what it is though. Mirror of Erised looks great as well, way less stickers this time around. Although I prefer the artstyle of the 2018 stickers, looked more realistic, this one looks more like how they do the paintings. Exterior looks great (although not to sure why there's a big window on the side). Figures are pretty good as well, although definitely not the highlight of the set. Dumbledore has been done better in countless other sets (still good design though), and I kinda prefer the previous Nick. Neville and Kettleburn are true highlights though, even though I might make a few adjustments to make him a bit more book accurate. Either way, I think this might be my new favourite set, definitely interior wise. I wonder if the Astronomy Tower on the box is a tease for next year. Quote
icm Posted April 23 Posted April 23 That does look amazing. It continues the all-too-frequent trend of bundling scenes that could be small, affordable sets into one giant building, but it's one very good giant building. I just wish we could get a single ~$80-$90 set that combined the challenges from the end of Philosopher's Stone, i.e. Fluffy, the Devil's Snare, the Winged Keys, the Chess Set, the Potions (although they weren't in the movie), and the Mirror with Quirrell. That would still be a large set combining several scenes that were discrete sets in the first movie wave from 2001, but it would be more focused and playable than trying to cram them in the lower levels of the giant tower at a reduced scale. Quote
JS038 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 The silhouette of the astronomy tower in the background might be a hint of what’s to come in the future. I am becoming more confident that they are going to do sections of the castle beyond the 2018 micro scale. Quote
brickbride Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) Sherlock Holmes book nook has leaked. Looks like a proper book nook as opposed to bookends, and allegedly comes with five figs. Whereas the HP one has only two figs and doesn't make sense when closed. The consistency here doesn't seem to be great across themes. I wonder what the LotR one will look like. The buildable phoenix looks at least better than the latest iterations of Hedwig, which is something. Though it's still a clumsy build, the claws and wings especially, and the baby phoenix looks to be about on par with drone Hedwig from the motorcycle set. According to Reddit the price is EUR 20 but USD 23. This seems like one of the tariff-related increases we've heard about in other themes. I wonder if the USD price for the Main Tower will climb up all the way to 300. (Also this is not HP related, but how many people pegged the Creator Unicorn Castle to be an actual castle for unicorns in the style of My Little Pony, as opposed to the stronghold of a faction of Unicorn Knights? LEGO seem to almost be trolling the Castle AFOLs by giving them two castles, one of which has no moulded horses and the other of which has no knights.) Edited April 23 by brickbride Quote
Tariq j Posted April 23 Posted April 23 The Tower looks excellent. Love that we finally have a common room with the Fat Lady this time. The Dormitory is a little simple but I’m glad they’ve included it with the common room. Dumbledore’s office is that surprises me most - it’s a lot more detailed than I would’ve expected it to be. I can’t wait to see what this looks like next to the Great Hall. Quote
Jaromir Posted April 23 Posted April 23 I am wondering, how the main tower is supposed to connect with the great hall? I thought those bricks with will connect with connectores, same as boat house withe great hall. However, looking on the main tower set, it does contain the same bricks with hooks as great hall does. So, is there supposed to be anything between them? Quote
BacktoBricks Posted April 23 Posted April 23 I really like the Main Tower. Sure the logistics of the Mirror of Erised being at the top of the tower doesn't make sense, but there's loads of play value here and it feels really warm and cosy. Getting the Fat Lady portrait again outside of a limited GWP is great and I like Fluffy's heads more now that I can see them head on. Dumbledore having a skirt piece is also a nice surprise as I thought he would have legs to allow him to sit down in his office like Voldemort got the leg treatment in Malfoy Manner, and whilst I get why it's done, for display I think the skirts look so much better. Ernie seems to be using young Anakin's head with Luke Skywalker's hairpiece so the Skywalker genetics are strong there, but still good to have a student with a different expression. Speaking of, I think Lisa Turpin is using the same headpiece as Leanne from The Great Hall, but does anyone know if Marcus Flint is reusing a head? I still think his toothy look from his previous minifigure is great, but this one still captures his likeness I think. Quote

So, is there supposed to be anything between them? It looks to me like the clips (if there are any) will be on the left hand side of the tower. In the image showing them combined, it appears like it is recommended to clip into the second pin on the great hall just after the count yard. It looks like it connects possibly to the two pins on the great hall that are narrowly close to each other on each side of the thin corridor where the portrait hallway or charms class can go. Maybe they only recommend connecting it to one pin, and displaying it angularly. I think that makes sense / might be the best way to display it visually. It seems like the archway to nowhere on the great hall courtyard and the clip below it will be reserved for a possible future viaduct. Edited April 23 by JS038 Quote
Jaromir Posted April 23 Posted April 23 @JS038 Got it buddy. Interesting. So another question comes up, what are those bricks with pins for on the great tower? Are we going to have future sets that will be attached at the rear of the set, or they are there to play with castle arrangement. Anyway, I will be little bit disappointed if that iteration of castle ends with the next year sets, like the astronomy tower as the flagship set and the viaduct and that's it. I am also curious of the flying lesson set is the actual part of Hogwarts castle, or is it stand-alone set as the owlery. Quote
mark1991t Posted April 23 Posted April 23 If we are supposed to attach the Staircase Tower to one or both of the middle clips in the Great Hall set, it blocks off the empty room with the portraits from that set. But, it looks like there's something of a window or doorframe in the removable room where the chess is placed. It could be that the 'portrait-room' is supposed to be the room where the Mirror of Erised is placed. When both sets are connected, they are right next to eachother. It makes sence since Quirrel is in the Great Hall set also and its accessible via the hidden door on the rock-side. Quote

It had 2 side clips and 1 back clip. I expect the back clip to be used for the Herbology set, so we just need to wait for that to leak. Set name leaks for Jan 1 2026 should make it clearer on if it is the last year of the wave. The back clips give me hope that we still have 2 years left. Quote
Jaromir Posted April 23 Posted April 23 After looking on the blurred outline of the most detailed hogwarts castle picture and at microscale hogwarts, I think that flying lesson might connect to the rear of the main tower and the next year set, to create the small bridge between them. Quote
sammy_zammy Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Something this model confirms is that this Hogwarts is going to dwarf the scale of 2018… really hoping that they go all out with it, otherwise we’ll be stuck with inconsistent sizing! Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted April 23 Posted April 23 (edited) Wow, this looks fantastic! Definitely one of my favourite castle expansions we‘ve had so far across all three systems! So many cool minifigs and details, and the challenges are really well realised! I was wondering how they‘d do the flying keys, and yeahhhhh… They‘re more like levitating keys here Other random observations: Funny to have a third version of Flint. Quite a lot for such a minor character! Nice of them to keep book-Percy exclusive! How many versions of Harris’ Dumbledore can they crank out before we finally get another Gambledore? Someone here will be very happy about one of the students… The PS looks stupid. Is it really so hard to recolour the gold nugget piece? Looks like the entire parts budget of this wave went into Fluffy. Worth it! Edited April 23 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

Micmac Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) I think this turned out really well. The tower looks great and the rooms in the set look good too. The pull out sections are poor again but I wasn't really expecting them to improve over the great hall. I'll just fix them myself. Interesting that the vine one is not pull out, I can see why they did it as the trapdoor is above it but I think it should still have been removable too. I'll have to change that. Is that a new piece for the roof, a quarter large cone? Can't really see any of the front connection points or if bridges can be added to it to link to future set. Will be interesting to see when we get official pictures. I might build it with the pieces i have myself but will get stuck with the new roof piece. Edited April 24 by Micmac Quote
RODDY Posted April 24 Posted April 24 10/10 absolute cinema is the rating I give the Main Tower for the Pajama Neville alone, they gave him the teddy print and there’s actually standing room in front of the Mirror of Erised this time! Quote
Roebuck Posted April 24 Posted April 24 It looks rather impressive, maybe I must start buying HP sets again even If I said I stopped Will keep an eye out for good offers at least even if I do not have any room to display it Quote
