It looks great. To me the Barracuda is to small to have a gundeck, maybe a brigantine, so that deck is better suited for crew quarters, as it is. The guns would be in the main/open deck, and I've put there 4 of them, in reality they would'nt be bigger than 6 pounders. Quote

DonQuixote Posted September 13 Posted September 13 The Pearl is on backorder now and will be shipped after 7 oktober. Despite the high price it seems to be a hit. I think we can expect a Davy Jones ship next year. So fans of Pirates of the Caribbean will be satisfied. Quote

Out of curiosity I will check in at midnight to see if the site will crash like usual when Lego releases a major set. So many people complaining and refusing to buy it. But in the end when the time is nigh and fomo appears, we all say together : Shut up and take my money I had similar feelings about the Batcave shadow box, thinking that it was cool, but overpriced and that I'd wait for a sale. Then it retired with no sale and now it has decent demand with little supply, so it's expensive. This probably just means it will be remade at some point, because DC only does Batman so... I'll wait for a decent GWP/offer on the Pearl. It's expensive but looks good. I do like the Death Slice (and that's a great name for it) as a model and the way it's executed, but I don't really care for Star Wars, so won't feel anything when it retires and I haven't bought it. Meanwhile, @huguberhart has posted Captain Redbeard’s Pirate Ship with hull extension from Black Pearl on Reddit – looks (and sounds, lol) absolutely brilliant There’s a reason why I ordered the hulls from PaB back in 2020 when I was all over the BSB, and this is it! I am about to build the black pearl and binge on the POTC movies at the same time, I’ll take notes and see how I can do it 🤣🤣 quite frankly I had like two fronts and like 6 middle pieces thinking it was going to fit the 10309 creator pirate ship 😭😭 dudes I was seeing the ship fly off the displays that they ran out and put out more. Funnily enough we were talking about the Death Star waiting in line, but the store I went to, had one built already and right before opening it took out the Death Star and hauled it somewhere in the mall 🤷 they did had plastic casing but who knows. Seeing it person was huge. But Hey the compass ran out also Edited September 13 by eldiano Quote
F1stzz Posted September 14 Posted September 14 An amazing 10365 review by Jonas Heyer on Zusammengebaut provides some incredibly artistic photos & size comparisons with the OG BSB, its 2020 remake, Skull's Eye Schooner, Red Beard Runner, Cross Bone Clipper & 2010 Imperial Flagship Quote
eldiano Posted September 14 Posted September 14 (edited) Building the ship itself was all refreshing, however the vast majority of the entire build inside the hull is the cannons and rudder steering mechanisms. Frankly my cannon setup doesn’t work as intended since they get stuck and i have to push them all out so not even smooth like the manual intended. They completely copied the cannons from the Silent Mary and are close in size to the original and realistically, you can modify the area for them to fit the original cannons since they do fit, but removing the gun’s mechanism can completely give the build like 85% more space, removing the rudder mechanism can indeed help it connect the captains quarters, but I’m more interested in replicating the bottom hull setup as seen an earlier post about for the pirates of barracuda bay ship. That’s actually my favorite play feature! Jonas heyer did an amazing review and now makes me feel like I understand what was missing on this build. I watched POTC 1 and POTC 2 to build the entire ship, there’s some refreshing techniques seen in the mast, but I’m curious if adding lego rope would work fix some of the issues with the fabric sails, because they do look flat tbh. I wish They would give us more ships from the POTC line like the Dauntless, Queen Anne’s Revenge POTC 4 and POTC 5 edition, even a Spanish galleon from POTC 4 and of course the Flying Dutchman which would be expensive for this scale. Call me crazy but LEGO pirates and Castle on this day age are instant purchases for me, I passed on the endurance because it was exploration than piracy, but It’ll always be a pirates life for me LOL The whole interior can be removed imho for more space. however after binging on the movies, the deck needs more cannons also lolol All things considered I think they could all fit with different 2x2’s “I know what I want, I know what I want, I know what I WANT!” Lolol One could argue that either LEGO didn’t anticipate that many fans buying this set or the fans of this set were too huge, it’s backordered on the website and sold out locally, the GWP is also gone. Good news for the franchise I hope. Edited September 14 by eldiano Quote

Pick a brick adds the sails to add two more I think, But that mod looks nice, Full cannons should fit though, even with the slide mechanism I think! But I fixed the issue i had with the sliding cannons, I’m that precision lego builder that ensures everything’s snug. Whatever you do, don’t snap them into place, they don’t sit on top of the peg and grind the tile as you can see, leaving them floating a bit fixes the issue. Now they move without effort at all! before i had to fight the gear and manually push them forward Switching the bird to the flying one would had been a better choice imho One last thing, I had to recreate this!!! Sand Green would have been perfect. At least it would be closer to the real deal. The same thing for the "Plant Stem" part in the back panel above the cabin roof... it should have been recoloured in Dark Grey to stand out more in the middle of so many black pieces. So many things that could've been better in this ship... Let's leave it for the MOC's. Edited September 15 by Hook Quote

The US online store has backordered until December 8th! So you're gonna buy it on day one ? I'm just a casual OG Starwars fan. A friend of mine is into Lego Starwars so I can always enjoy watching his collection. The Cantina is the best Starwars set ever made according to him. I will just stick to my favorite themes : castle, pirates and classic space. Lego is expensive enough so I've got to prioritize themes. My opinion on the new Death Star : the individual scenes look good separately but I don't think it works well like they did it now , stacked in a big wheel. I prefer the separate Lego Starwars dioramas over this. From a far it looks like a giant clock. But that's just my opinion. 9 hours ago, F1stzz said: Literally only needed to make the readily available seagull mold in Sand Green or Light Bluish Grey & would've been perfect, but oh well I had the exact same thought ! The seagull looks so much better then that little bird. I will give my Pearl a pearl gold trident and a round metallic shield. Not movie accurate but it looks way more cooler I think. I gave my Barracuda remake yellow satue also a cutlass and a classic shield with yellow clubs. It looks more menacing and elegant at the same time. 14 hours ago, SpacePolice89 said: It is still available from both the US and European Disney stores (free delivery in Europe). https://www.disneystore.com/lego-captain-jack-sparrows-pirate-ship-10365-pirates-of-the-caribbean-673419408271.html https://www.disneystore.eu/lego-icons-pirates-of-the-caribbean-captain-jack-sparrows-pirate-ship-set-10365-417160714126.html Sold out at EU Disney shop lol Edited September 15 by DonQuixote Quote

So, I’m weird, I don’t collect lego sets because of the builds, I collect minifigures and I’m that lego collector that buy sets just to update older versions of the newly released characters. Luckily I have like 30000 insider points that can absorb the taxes and I do have cash on hand to help with the rest, but believe me I dislike this set aside from being a death slice, they locked the newer characters behind an expensive set. My biggest regret selling my POTC ships wasn’t the ships but the minifigures, they are so much cool imho. Quote

My biggest regret selling my POTC ships wasn’t the ships but the minifigures, they are so much cool imho. I bought the Deku tree at a discount for €240. I have build the two versions of the tree, then broke it down. The half tree is ok at best.Lego Ideas tree house is way better. The minifigs are excellent and high quality. The Zelda and Link minifigs are now displayed in Rivendell. They fit in very well despite it being a different franchise. Arwen and Zelda both standing under the gazebo gossiping who is the bravest and most handsome man ? Link or Aragorn ? Link together with Aragorn on the little bridge discussing how to defeat Sauron and Ganondorf. So yes I bought a set just for its minifigures too but I was not going to pay full price for it. Ocarina of time is still the best game ever made. Or I'm just getting old. Lol Edited September 16 by DonQuixote Quote
Mordarch Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I spent the day yesterday building the Pearl and it was such a fun build, the repetitiveness of some parts wasn't too bad and it all adds up to such a gorgeous build. I think what I love most about this version of the Pearl and it's something some of MOC-builds don't alway get richt; It has the overal shape of the Black Pearl totally right. A lot of MOC's (the MOC Your Bricks one for instance, though I do love that version almost equally) tend to make the Pearl too flat. The LEGO one has the right curve to it, something I noticed when watching the films during building, and it's something I haven't seen many people talking about. I did try to add some LEGO ropes I had in storage to the masts to keep them form angling too much forward, but I actually think it's not actually leaning that much, but the construction makes it seem so. The masts consist of separate parts that each are attached to the front of the previous one and with the sail it makes it look angled forward more than they actually are. I looked at my Queen Anne's revenge and besides having the mast be one straight piece, they build the yard arm a bit further outward from the mast the more you go down. This probably also helped with making the sails look wind-filled. The new sails also don't really have the curve built-in the fabric, which make sit bit harder to look filled. I put it next to some of my other ships and I'm surprised how good it fits between them, though the Queen Anne's Revenge does kinda look pathetic next to it, it's definitely a build of the time.
