For me, it’s the other way round as I much prefer the hairpiece, especially the one created for TLBM  At least the BTAS version still has the jester headpiece!

What I find a bit strange is that the Penguin has his old top hat again, as well as a brick-built umbrella, rather than the modern counterparts. Maybe they’re going for a more oldschool look in anticipation of the upcoming anniversary?  I mean, we also have the classic brick-built penguins and a very similar looking Killer Croc

Even as someone who tapped out of these films long ago it's insane how the series made famous for having characters crossing over to set up other films didn't have characters crossover to set up the sequel to their biggest film ever

Agreed!

• 2006: I don’t have that one one, so I can’t fully comment on it, but it looks like a solid build for the time. Gives me strong 2004 Shrieking Shack vibes ^^
• 2013: Still an awesome detailed set, even if it’s rather flat. I way prefer the angles of the new one! Cool interior too.
• 2017: Previously my favourite version, but the new one will very likely dethrone it! Depends on the interior.
• 2025: Love the fact it’s on a baseplate! Kind of an amalgamation of all of its precursors.

All jonkling throughout the year aside, I still think 2025 is the best year the theme had in a long time. Sure, Supes getting ignored super sucks and we only got 5 sets in total, but they’re all great with Arkham being the cherry on top

Huh... I hadn't caught wind of that rumor yet. Digging around a little more, sound like it could be a conglomeration of several different past Batman movies? Interesting...

Well, I guess that makes some sense, since most of the Batman sets of the last five years have been movie based, so that's how you feature the most recent products.

I'm skeptical though. It seems like there should be other properties which are more relevant/unified than "Batman movies" for a new TT game, not to mention that it sounds like a step down from Lego Batman 2-3 and DC Super Villains. Plus, there won't be a lot of sets on shelves to cross-promote the game if it does release in 2026....

But hey. Strange things happen all the time. A Batman 66 or Batman and Robin campaign crossing over with villains from The Dark Knight trilogy in free play sounds like it could be fun.

was surprised by this as well. its 20 years Batman Lego since its introduction,  you would think the suits at Lego would have some sort of common sense to release something via sets, but they have proven to be Marvel fairy boys in the past.

agree,  the previous build over the years solid and still hold up, but something on a baseplate and Modular, and count of bricks makes it a must

Oh, the new one absolutely clears all previous Arkham Asylums—TLBM one too.

Obviously, it has the advantage of being a modular build, but still... it feels like a complete masterpiece, and not just a facade which you could vastly expand upon. The gate is amazing, I love the fence, and the guard tower really adds to the atmosphere. 

And we're still yet to see the interior! I'd wager it will contain so many awesome easter eggs and little details.

I don’t think anyone has brought it up on here - but for the purposes of informing the masses, it appears that Robin and Batwoman both have dual-sided capes. I didn’t initially catch it, but someone pointed it out on Reddit. If you look at the group Minifigure shot in the wooden tiers, Robin’s is obvious. You can barely make out a layer of black on the neckpiece of Batwoman.

In my opinion, the 2006 Arkham is the only bad one. The 2017 one looks great and has a really good police car. But then, you can tell I'm mostly interested in Arkham Asylum for the side build vehicles. The ambulances in the 2006 and 2013 models, the police car in the 2017 set, the panel van in the 2025 set. I want to just Bricklink the parts for each of them, but I haven't had time.

This Arkham feels so small, particularly in terms of height. It lacks the imposing stature I would expect. It feels like it was shrunk in the wash, along with the X-Mansion. Both sets really need a third level.

Hope next year we get some sets with Bane and Croc without prisonner attire.

Doing new head prints but no bodies to match with would be wasted.

from the sounds of it we are only getting 4 sets next year max (if they are not marvel), with 1 rumoured being a superman set.
if 1 is a 4+ set and another a mech we only have 1 left, hopefully either a batman vs bane killer croc/scarecrow or supergirl set

Regarding TLBM Arkham, all I can say about that is these two words: Brittle Brown.

2012's Arkham is the best I'd seen up until the leaks of 2025 came out. Also, if you removed a lot of Superhero stuff, the Arkham from '12 makes a great starting point for a gothic manor!

2012 is still my favorite, of the ones so far released, mostly because I prefer the all gray color scheme to the brown and gray. But 2025 might take the cake despite that just because it’s a fully enclosed building.

2006 Arkham is definitely a product of its time, but it’s gotta a creepy vibe to it that I really like. The 2017 one just feels like if Friends did a ski cabin that just happens to be a prison.

And it’d be nice if that new Ivy wasn’t forever locked behind a $300 pay wall.

SDCC starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday. It could be anywhere in that time period, but if I had to guess, I’d say either Thursday or Friday.

If I remember right the official reveal usually coincides with the floor opening at SDCC because the day before SDCC officially opens (which happens to be today) is press day/preview night. Usually a press release goes around for publication just in time for people to see the set on the floor at Lego's SDCC setup (that's probably where the leak with the lifestyle photos is from). So hopefully we get more photos today, but if not probably tomorrow.

 

I did quickly scope out some articles from previous years. It looks like last year Jedi Bob's Starfighter had its official reveal the first day of SDCC, but there were pictures taken from the preview the night before. But in 2022 the Avatar sets were officially revealed the night before SDCC. So again, hopefully we get something tonight even if not the official reveal. 

edit: wait, Brickset worded their article a little funny. Jedi Bob's starfighter did have its official reveal the day before SDCC (at least in the US) but it looks like it was pretty late.

Mixed feelings on this Arkham Asylum. There’s a part of me that feels like there’s not enough Gothic architecture used in the facade of the building, none of the stained glass or the such. Also idk if it was just me but I felt like the Minecraft leak felt a bit taller than the actual set, so this set actually being shorter and more compact also disappointed and it’s didn’t feel as imposing as I thought it would. But after living with it a couple days and letting my expectations subside, it’s starting to grow on me and I’m sure the interior will be killer as well. Just wish we got Nightwing and Gordon instead of Batwing and Batwoman. I do really dig The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, my favorite iterations of each respective character. And I dig the minifig forms of Croc and Bane, never liked the Big Fig versions maybe because I grew up with them in the 2006 Batman line and got accustomed with them as minifigs.
