Given that we now know the EC500 is the 18+ set for this year (for strong language, I'm guessing), I wonder if TLG are going all out and doing the High Reach model.

EDIT: Nope, it'll be this.

I'd pay good money just to sit in the brainstorming-meeting which is held between the designers and CEOs of Lego, when they decide for the new models.

Designers: "Hey there are cool excavators from Volvo, can we do those?"

CEOs/Managers: "You mean there are multiple excavators...? Just like multiple cars...?"

Designers: "Well sure, but I think one excavator in a years line-up is sufficient..."

CEOs/Mangers: "Very good! We make 2 exvatacors this year! Both from Volvo!"

Designers: "Really...? Whatever, at least anything else but cars...."

I'd pay good money for that too, if I could join in!

Marketing "So we're seeing good sales for cars....."

Me "Cars stands for Clear Air Ram Servos right? Those are called pneumatics!

Marketing "No, cars as in vroom"

Me "Ah yes, Very Realistic Oxygen Operated Movers!"

Marketing "No, cars, like Porsche"

Me "Pneumatically Operated Remotely Since Control+ Hardly Educational? I like it but you need a better name."

If we're ever to get a real hydraulic set an 18+ Volvo model would be where they introduce it. That's probably too much to hope, but I don't see Volvo going for the "Looks good on a living room shelf" kind of 18+ set.

To be fair, one of the excavators is from last year. This year we have a loader and an excavator.

Could you please suggest parts packs from 2022-2025? I love building various vehicles and special machinery in LEGO Technic, but my budget for LEGO is limited, so I often hesitate about what to buy. Right now, I think the best value-for-money parts pack is 42181.

That's not what this thread is for.

@Ngoc Nguyen 42211's full name is "Lunar Outpost Moon Rover Space Vehicle". Now that's a mouthful. :)) Also, 42214 is missing "Car" and 42215 missing "Excavator" at the end of their name.

I was hoping for a generic / fantasy space rover to join the ones we had last year, but there's actually a company called Lunar Outpost and they have this vehicle. I guess we'll see the return of the Apollo LRV wheels.

Fixed that

But its weird why 42214 is lamborghini and 42215 is volvo because 42114 was volvo hauler and 42115 was lamborghini so why not keep numbers consistent

I think they could get away with a Chinook. Civilian variants of the Chinook are real and they've been used for decades in oil and gas work. A civilian variant of the Osprey was only hypothetical.

I don't get what the problem with the Osprey was. They already had an "Osprey" in 8082:

Yes, but that set wasn't called an "Osprey" at all because it wasn't licensed. Unfortunately, most Technic sets nowadays are licensed to increase sales. A major limitation of licenses is that the model must resemble it's real-life counterpart. Since 42113 was licensed by Bell-Boeing and featured a V-22 Osprey aircraft that is only used in the Air Force with no civilian version in active service, TLG couldn't make the set because it went against their commitment to avoiding military vehicles.

Anyhoo, sorry for derailing this conversation, everyone. We are talking about 2025 sets in this topic, and from the way things are looking there will not be any aircraft on the Technic assembly line this year anyway. And so we return to TLG's normal routine of Technic cars and construction vehicles...:hmpf_bad:

That's not how set numbers work.

I couldn't fully figure out the upper part of the canopy and the tail.

I think it uses two of these:

Btw, I don't remember much of a discussion around this piece, maybe because it appears in a SW set?

I tried that first but could not come up with an idea how to attach it to the body: that would interfere with the rotor drive train.
