a guy from somewhere Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 4 hours ago, Rolyat24 said: I’m not so sure, I don’t think a second wave is at all out of the question. We know the second half the season is coming in the fall, so a January wave wouldn’t be too late to go alongside it. We haven’t really seen much of what the second half of the season will look like, so it’s entirely possible that there are new vehicles/locations/characters that could be made into sets featured in the later episodes. As JTimG mentions, we’ve seen this before, albeit not in awhile. But I personally wouldn’t mind going back to two full waves of sets per season. It gives the designers a chance to feature more characters and especially villain-oriented sets. We also know that CORE is ending, so unless Cartoon Network wants to start airing two seasons per year again, we don’t really have another option for a winter wave. An early 2024 season 2 is certainly possible, but it’s not any more likely than a summer 2024 one, which is more in line with recent timelines. Finally, it’s far too early to know what’s coming in January. The fact that there haven’t been any leaks yet tells us nothing, as no sets from other themes are known yet either. By this logic, I guess we aren’t getting any LEGO sets in winter 2024. Overall, it’s just too soon to know what’s coming next year. I’d expect we’ll start to hear rumors around August. I doubt Lego will stop producing one of 2 entire set waves of the year, but I understand that making 40 20 min episodes a year is gonna be quite the stretch. Personally I think 2 set waves is the most likely option. We have the content for it, and it would give the designers the opportunity for “spoiler” sets from the show, like say it turned out Sora was Imperium all along and she got her own imperium vehicle we would see that in the winter. Plus there’s that giant green dragon seen in trailers, considering how prominent it has been I’m finding it hard to believe that we aren’t gonna get that as a set. My best bet is that the green dragon, Heatwave, and Jiro (the transforming and lightning dragons) are 3 of the 7 source dragons, and we can expect to see the other source dragons in later waves. I think 2 set waves per design is entirely possible and could explain some weird choices like exclusive goons/guards instead of high ranking figures and the lack of Nya in some sets. Quote

Sweet, then I revert to my prior statement. CORE is dead, for better or worse. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 I really liked Core. It was a great Ninjago line that felt completely standalone. It makes sense to discontinue it with Dragons Rising taking its place tho. Quote

This will be a decisive season). Watch the scrapyard escape scene that LEGO posted in English on YouTube - The banter between Arin and Sora feels very classic Ninjago. 23 hours ago, a guy from somewhere said: I doubt Lego will stop producing one of 2 entire set waves of the year, but I understand that making 40 20 min episodes a year is gonna be quite the stretch. I agree; 1HY 2024 will most likely be additional sets for the first season (absolutely no shot that we are not getting the green dragon!). My guesses would be a large (Jiro-size) green dragon with a few Imperium flyers ($100+), a set with two medium-sized dragons for Nya and either Kai or Cole (since the orange core can be used for either) and a larger Imperium vehicle (~$80-$95), and an Imperium headquarters/castle with Beatrix, Lord Ras, the scientist, two guards, Arin, Sora, and probably Lloyd; the set could include an Imperium vehicle (perhaps a jet?) that can be deployed from the building, and a small dragon that can be freed (~$150) - Among other sets, obviously! About the hound: Spoiler It seems that the Dragon Hunter Hound is not Lord Ras. We see a shot of multiple hounds in a TV spot, and in the recent clip of Lord Ras talking to the scientist, they discuss whether the magician guy can fix (and later mass-produce) something called the "Photac"; the set description for the Hound calls it a "Photac Beast", so it is evidently a piece of technology (maybe a hologram? That would explain why it glows). Quote
Harren Tonderen Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) I have theory that they might do sets where cores from gimmicks will appear (green - obviously big green dragon, orange and teal) Edited May 26, 2023 by Harren Tonderen Quote
Lemerbrix Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 I’m very certain that the dragon hunter hound is not ras, because ras is a tiger, not a wolf Quote

And we know tigers exist in Chima, so that doors still open. Quote
Rolyat24 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 I believe Lloyd’s CORE dragon is still on shelves now, so that might explain why the green dragon from DR hasn’t shown up yet. I’m guessing after it retires we’ll get the new one. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted May 27, 2023 Posted May 27, 2023 Interesting to see that some dragons from Core, like Cole's Earth Dragon and Zane's Ice Dragon Creature are present in the actual Dragons Rising episodes. Quote
Something_Awesome Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 (edited) You're going to see some core sets in the Fall season. Example, Jay's Titan Mech should make an appearance in season 2. Or at least the end of Season 1. Same with with the Ice Dragon Creature. So an entire Dragon Rising wave, a modular, an $80 and $100 core sets that are part of Dragon Rising is a lot. We will probably see a winter Dragon Rising wave, but it will be smaller. There wouldn't be another heavy hitter on par with the Destiny Bounty in that wave. I do hope we see the Titan mech, I backed down on it before in favour of saving money but if it does come up again in the season then I’d be very tempted to get it. I could see it being worked into the plot, but then again they could just say “jay didn’t wake up in his mech”. Like Lloyd waking up in the monastery not the bounty. Maybe Lloyd and Arin find the Titan mech and rebuild it into the team mechs? Idk. Quote

I do hope to see more dragons in the January wave. Quote

I expect it can’t stick about for much longer, if it’s gone by the end of the year then that pretty much guarantees the big winter set (in the £90 or 100$ category) to be that big green talking dragon we’ve been seeing in trailers and that one clip we got yesterday. I’m assuming it’s from the second episode. Quote

I’m assuming it’s from the second episode. End of Life list has all of Ninjago 2022 retiring at the end of this year. Also a couple retiring even sooner at July 2023 (which isn't new to Ninjago, past years had a bunch of July retirement as well) . 2021 sets listed as retiring 31-7-2023 Sea Bounty Water Dragon Zane Titan Mech 2022 sets listed as retiring 31-7-2023 4+ dragon temple Zane Jet Kai Raider The 31st July retirement dates are also pretty much confirmed as they are listed on Brickset as well https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-end-of-life-2023/#lego-ninjago As for the 2023 sets on there, i'm usually waiting for more sources near the end of the year for those, but sets retiring quite fast in the same year has happened before, with the 2022 spinners / training center lasting from March-December. This year in particular seems to be moving a lot of old product around in themes like Ninjago or City which makes sense in a way, as both going in a somewhat new direction. a guy from somewhere Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 A user on Instagram, jacobspointofview, has posted on their story a picture of the new Kai figure with the rebooted mask, it fits almost perfectly which is great, I was wondering if that could be used and it seems so. Hopefully it looks good on Sora as well, that’s my main hope. Can’t wait to see the sets and the show tomorrow. Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 So today is the day! ninjago dragons rising comes out in just under 2 and a half hours, it will be streamed on YouTube by a couple of people I believe. Im assuming that we are keeping spoilers in the spoiler box, and whenever I talk about something ill make it clear what episode its from, incase someone wants to space the episodes out over the week. Just a recommendation for everyone else. Cant wait to watch the new show, although I probably won't get any sets till Monday, thats when my local shop is putting them out on shelves. Gonna pick up the hunter hound and kai spinner, then the bounty and temple at a later date. Then its a long slog to get the markets. I also want to get the team mechs and the mech bike set, team mechs is probably my most anticipated set of the wave but severely overpriced IMO, so I will be looking for a discount. And whilst I detest the build in the mech bike set, im gonna put my modding skills to use and try and redo it into the duel cockpit gyroscopic racer mech we've seen in the show. The only sets im gonna miss this wave are the 4+ sets, Lloyd and Nya spinners (unless I have a change of heart) and the giant dragon vs mech set, as much as I want it its too big of a spend alongside the bounty and the markets. then I gotta get heatwave and zane car. My wallet is already crying. spoilers for the character of Wyldfire - Spoiler Ive seen the clip of her and heatwaves backstory, im really interested in her now as a character, its a really cool concept IMO. Also excited to see the vehicle the family was traveling in, it looks really cool. Heatwave also looks a bit different, gonna need some set modding. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 My highest priority is the markets, but I've got to be sensible and wait for a good gwp ( or more than one) and/or double points. I think I might get the temple too. I'll get all the magazines with my subscription too. might get some of the other, the mech v dragon and hound are tempting but I'll see what I can get discounted. I'd like to get the whole team but we don't know what the magazine will have in January onwards so I might manage that there. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Since it's a new era of Ninjago, I'm gonna go all out and but the Elemental Dragon vs. The Empress Mech set, plus the Nya Dragon Power. (I don't usually buy sets bigger than 50€ since I like to keep my collection more compact, but I make certain exceptions. 100€+ sets are a rarity for me.) I love that set so much, the dragon is absolutely incredible, and the Mech is surprisingly fantastic too. It also has the best minifigure selection if you want to buy the magazines. (Out of five minifigures in 2023, only Ras is a repeat, which leaves me with four additional characters.) Other sets I adore are the Temple and the Heatwave Dragon. The Temple is similar in price to the Dragon vs. Mech set, but I'd end up without Jay and Sora, both of who are my most wanted characters (along with Nya). The Dragon has a minifigure selection problem, where four out of five characters will be included in the magazine this year. Quote
