I like it a lot.

But I don't €650 like it. Closer to €400 like it.

8000+ pieces in a licensed theme. Even in architecture price per piece ratios that is a good deal.

Where is the video everyone is watching and what is it called on YouTube?

Its on reddit, if you search Lego Minas Tirith, or join R/Legoleak it's on there

They've pulled it off really well. Taking up most of the inside for a single scene allows it to work extremely well, and then the hidden scenes are a lovely bonus.

The exterior looks great. It's pretty deep, so I wonder if there is a way to secure the front walls rather than them sitting loose. If not, display may be a challenge, although one that I look forward to tackling.

The set contains 2 statue minifigures in the hall of kings, so theoretically it is 12 minifigs plus Shadowfax. I hope the white tree placards below the two white statues in the Hall of Kings are also printed but could be stickers. Overall I think they could keep this set sticker free

I'll be the first one to say I'm not a huge fan. I think it's too white so the outside looks monotonous. I like the figs and the throne room at the back but the view from the front isn't doing it for me.

I love the books and films of LOTR but have held off from the Lego sets. Now seeing this, I'll pick up Rivendell and not worry about 'completing' by getting the others. I don't think they'll display that well all together.

The 2 side sections of the front wall have 2 of the looser ball socket connectors towards the gate in light grey (that wre previously used with cars/trucks and their corresponding trailers) and 2 tan axle connectors towards the back of the model that should lock them in place but make it easy enough to remove

One of my favorite things Lego has started doing in the design of all their large sets is modularity. Not in the sense that you can swap things out, but so when building it is easier to combine a large set together. Barad-Dur did this, the new Death Star did, and Minas Tirith does.

Even Rivendell does to a point where the three sections are separable.

So, we now have "home base" settings for Elves (Rivendell), Orcs (Barad-dur), Hobbits (Shire), and Men (Minas Tirith). Are we getting a 'home' for Dwarves next?

Looking closely at the two white statues I think they are reusing the crown and hair piece from Aragorn recoloured in white for at least one of the statues, could als be both. The one on the left is not clearly visible in the footage. The one on the right of the hall has a beard and from the side profile of the hair piece it looks like the crown

Can they do Erebor under the current license? Sure you could do Khazad-dum, but during the timeline of the LOTR it really isn't the home of the dwarves.

Good "deal" or not, as someone on Reddit said, that puts it in the tier of "I'll watch someone else build it with 2x speed on YouTube".

My Lego budget is not infinite. I can't drop that kind of cash on one set unless I'm absolutely in love with it.

A set like Helms Deep or Edoras are far more likely. A home for the Rohirrim... And eventually a remake of Orthanc

Looks really great, much better than I could have imagined actually. Really like what they did with the interior too and they kinda go a new way with not only a minifig-scale interior like they did with Barad-Dûr but also locations inside of the build.

Oh wow, they did it. They did it justice. It's amazing.

I think the tan for the baseplates is an odd choice, but it doesn't diminish just how incredible this looks. I may need to go sell some of my older sets so I can afford to get 2 copies.

I doubt it, Mines of Moria is the only location like that in LOTR and they've already done the Balrog set this time around.

Minas Tirith looks amazing! I love how they combined minifigure scale and microscale. The throne room looks simply gorgeous. Even though the price range might theoretically be really good (price/parts) as some have pointed it, it's still a lot of money for me to spend at once. But this might be one of the first sets almost convincing me to do so.

Since the consensus is these are still preliminary mini-figs, what are the odds Arwen ends up with skirt printing? Just feels odd to have arm printing and cheap out on skirt printing.

Wow didn't expect that, I like what I see. The one thing that would make it even better is Fountain guard minifig, but well I guess we can't have everything.

Looks very impressive! This looks to me like the best LOTR set since Rivendell, with more impressive scale than The Shire, and less ugly source material than Barad-Dur.

So it checks Faramir off the list of most-wanted minifigures, but we're still waiting on Eowyn?

Minas Tirith looks amazing! Day one purchase. The hard part will be to chose which way to display it, the backside/throne room looks as incredible (perhaps even more) as the city.

Seems like they did an fantastic job with the set:pir-triumph: 4 knights is OK, but 2 more on horses would be better for army-builders other than that I have no objections until the official reveal
