Does anyone have the depth (cm/inch or studs) of the shire (without the side builds)?

Is it the 27cm as stated on the LEGO website? Sometimes they use the side builds to add more depth so I don't really trust their measurements.

I think 27 cm doesn't include side builds, but is from farthest point forward to farthest point back from looking at my set.

I'm #1. I'm personally in the camp of "I'll buy nearly anything LOTR, possibly even Brickheadz, because I love the theme so much." So, I do hope they're not done yet. Three is better than nothing, but four, or five, or forty would be better than three!

There aren't too many other iconic locations they could reasonably do in minifig form that they haven't already done. I'm still happy with the 2012 Orthanc. I guess maybe a bigger Helm's Deep might work but I can't see Minas Tirith easily done in minifig scale. Maybe a proper Lego Balrog instead of a bookend would be nice.

If I had 2 copies I'd make more hobbit holes! I've already got two smaller ones I've made previously but a bigger Hobbiton will always be appealing! 

My copy arrived a little while ago but I'm on holiday at the moment so it's gonna have wait till I come home in May.

A new Botanicals set, 10438 Japanese Maple, has leaked. Apparently someone at LEGO knows how to build proper, good-looking trees. Why couldn't they have done this for the Shire set?

For the obvious reason, they could have done a better tree for sure, prove for that is out there, but the question would be, if it would be worth the set beeing more expensive for it.

If the budget wasn’t enough to do a proper tree, they shouldn’t have done the tree at all. The current party tree is an embarrassment

Well, in my opinion getting a party tent textile is way more difficult then building up a tree (with dense foliage), so I'm quite happy the way LEGO went.

Jedi Bricks did a video over the weekend claiming to have it from a reliable source that there will be more LotR sets in 2026. So it seems like we can rest the fears that the line is ended.

Jedi Bricks isn‘t a reliable source though. While I’m convinced LOTR will continue, we need to wait for actual leakers to confirm it

He did initially leak the Buildable Ewok though. We live in the strangest timeline.

But yeah. All his previous LoTR “leaks” have been the Lego equivalent of a Mike Zeroh video.

Claiming that there is another set next year, isn´t really a bet I would be afraid to lose, so it is easy to claim that. I wonder, when people claim they got it from a reliable leaker, why the leaker wouldn´t post it himself then. But eitherway, I am pretty sure there will be more next year eitherway. And sooner or later (probably more the first) we will hear about it from a more reliable source.

Check out the Ninjago Dragon set that just leaked. That would be a great scale for Gandalf vs Balrog. Re-color the Dragon Black(or brown) with Fire Red highlights, also change the head obviously. How awesome would that be? Throw in a bridge and… my money would leave my wallet instantly. Any chance the upcoming book nook could be that scale? Probably not, but what an opportunity!

The ones with the leak could probably end up in trouble if they where caught, so we end up with so called "leakers" that really do not know anything other that what they are told from their sources. What the sources get out of this deal I do not know, maybe they are friends with the "leaker" or the "leaker" pay them? Would not surprise me if Lego themself leak stuff as well to build the hype etc It sometimes seems like "leakers" know stuff, but are not allowed to reveal it before a certain date or they get the all clear from the source, strange

Good to know. I'm not immersed enough to know which leakers are leakers and which are just leakers. I knew I'd seen the name before, and was curious noone had mentioned it here. Now I know why.

Currently, the most reliable ones include lego minecraft goat, TandN, a.clay, maxbautde, Cmf6169, mtd, fateful, and Brick Clicker (and Falconfan, but I’m not sure if he’s still active). What they say is usually highly accurate ^^ Most other „leakers“ either parrot what they say, fall for fake informants, or just make stuff up for clicks

It's actually quite nice, to be fair.

I think I prefer the bookends rather than the nook.

I don't see much point in just looking at the back of a Gandalf minifig as he faces off the Balrog.
(especially if he has his hat on, and we're looking at the back of his blank head. Though he would surely have his long hair)

Interesting that it comes with so many minifigures....

Yeah, but I was referring to the leakers and not to their sources. The thing is, a leaker would likely rather post the info himself, while they keep their sources secret. So if someone claims to have the info from a reliable leaker, he can´t mean a source either, because he wouldn´t know who are the leakers sources ;). Of course he could get a own source that has proven his reliability to him in the past, so who knows. But as I said, the info we got isn´t really any anyways, actually if someone were claiming there would be no more sets, that would be more of a news.
