Latest news about Lego animal moulds

Oh right, the set said to have the wolf den was actually the other one. I thought the little cave next to the train tracks was supposed to be this. Getting both foxes and wolves would of course be the perfect option. Having the same animals in both Sets, especially of that size, would be a strange choice, would make more sense for one to include polar bears then.

At this point my money is on the foxes causing the rock fall. Why else are they up high like that!? 

And yes, the other set including wolves seems unlikely now.

Fingers crossed they're foxes as opposed to wolves, simply because we already have a new piece for the latter and the former is still missing (unless you count Minecraft ).

They are on a totally different hill though. Still strange choice to have them that high up, a more central role so you see them faster would make more sense to me IMO

That was actually not what I meant. More that both sets including wolves would be strange, but if the other set has wolves than this set having foxes makes more sense, because the same animal in both sets would just be strange talking about two big sets, where you could easily put a ice bear with two cubs instead.

I mean, I think wolves in one and foxes in the other *seems* unlikely to me, since they are similar to the casual observer. I guess it could be a wolf in the other one, but now I’d assume a recolour in white would be unlikely. Who knows? We definitely need more accurate reports on animal moulds from people who give us the leaks tho … #priorities

The only possible explanation if the leaker would be wrong to me though would be that he indeed meant this set with the wolf den - but that also seems unlikely to me. Anyways, the release isn´t that long so I would expect them to be official revealed soonish anyways, especially since it is a city set, that usually are revealed earlier from release than icons sets for instance.

I still have hope they include wolves in the other set, since they will show up on PAB then (probably cost more than a CMF like the goat)
However the leaker may have mixed up wolf and fox den, after all the person did not even say the set included any animals so probably not the biggest animal "expert". Even we in this thread that are above average interested in Lego animals had to look several times on the picture before we where sure they are foxes.
The same leaker did not mention any animals or dens at all in this set either. On the other hand, Lego seem to include different animals lately in sets in the same wave and the wolf mould is up for grabs now

Off-topic; I wonder if the set has some snakes as well (#wheel of time)

Even then Minecraft never got a dedicated part for it's foxes, the reuse of the cat head doesn't really work IMO.

The reality however is that almost every Arctic set we have ever gotten has had some animals in it - usually to site it in the Arctic! So it would be odd for it not to have anything.

To me the description of the ‘wolf den’ for the other set is really so like what we get in the train set that it seems to be a mix up. Also we don’t know how that person got their info - they may have seen sets beside each other built up and not known which ‘scenery’’ went with which …

Remember as well that animal moulds need far less tolerance than bricks and other system parts. It doesn't really matter if an animal mould becomes slightly worn so long as any connection points work well enough. If single connections on an accessory become slightly loose or slightly stiff, it doesn't matter too much compared to on building parts. Similarly if the animal grew in size by even 1% due to wear in the mould, it is not a big deal.

You can tell the animal moulds with the least tolerance - they have angry eyebrows 😂

Other than pigeon and those  “maybe” Arctic foxes molds,  i don’t rmemeber if there are any new animal molds in City? I am pretty sue there is a new foal in DreamZzz, new Velociraptor mold, Spinosaurus, baby. Aqulatops, and Titanosaurus.

Yep,  there are new dinosaurs you martini - the velociraptor is an updated smaller option, plus new baby aquilops, Spinosaurus and Titanosaurus.

The pink foal is the existing foal mould, but the leaked image obscures the face, so it’s not clear what that looks like. It’s also been paired with the wings from the CMF cupid, to make it a pink Pegasus! 

City has the new pigeons, so far in both the tower and the train station sets (maybe others?) it’s not yet clear if they’re all identical or have any variations.

I think at this stage we can bank the new fox mould, even though it took us a while to convince ourselves. They’re in white in the Arctic train set, so I guess that leaves us with two big questions - when and where might we get a ‘red fox’ recolour? And what, of any, animals are there in the other Arctic set. 

Not sure if any other City sets we haven’t yet seen will have surprises for us… I guess Dreamzzz might also have something as they threw in the red panda last year, and introduced the raven. There is a very bad pic of a leaked trans pink Dreamzzz animal that may be an axolotl, or something more fantastical.

That is possible, have not thought about that, but as you say the other set should still have some kind of animal (probably not foxes is my guess unless there is a red one to kill the arctic ones)

That is a point, however not sure TLG differentiate between moulds that way as it could lead to quality issues On the other side animals are so rare compared to most other moulds the chance of them getting worn out after being in a set or two is minimal. Maybe some of the earlier animal moulds became worn out so they decided so update them instead of making the same, like the parrot? The horse that was the first animal (not counting the bird in cage) and the first one that was updated if I remember correctly I think was an decision made to increase the posability in LOTR sets, however worn out mould could have been a part of it

I think it's in Creator, could be new or only a new color, time will tell.

I also saw an owl being mentioned - but who knows if that’s existing, new, brick -built, fantastical, transparent, zombie …

It’s high time we had more wild dog species, to offset the abundance of big cats. Both the wolf and (red) fox seem like very sensible additions to me, since they both have such wide distribution across the planet. Fox could also show up as a recolour in future CMFs of course.

My paws are still crossed that the unseen Arctic set features a wolf recolour, a narwhal, and a couple of puffins for good measure 😜

Seems to be the existing foal in both pink 🩷 &  yellow 💛 (both with Cupid wings attached to make them ‘pegasuses’), and a new mould for the unicorn in white 🤍 with purple mane and tail 🦄 (nice nod to the CMF unicorn costume).

I have a sneaking suspicion that these are going to be insanely popular. Very much leaning into the My Little Pony vibe with these. I also find myself slightly sad that there’s not a blue pony/foal included.

Anyways, it looks like there might be a Phoenix chicken Fawkes from Harry Potter. And i think a new Cerebeus mold, Fluffy too?

Brick built, no? Though there’s a new mould for Fluffy heads and the body which might be repurposed somehow.

Oops, you are correct, it’s not molded phoenix chick, I’m disappointed but it’s nice to have Cerebeus back. I still prefer the 2001 verision. 

I don’t remember Creator (nomral or 3-in-1) have molded creatures like unicorn and Pelagius.

Normally dogs are also brickbuilt in creator Sets. The only animals I really remember as moulded ones are crabs and fish, though pretty sure if we would look there would also be a frog somewhere.
