Erik Leppen Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Even the lettering on the boom is accurate :D Anyhow, it's huge, quite. However for such a beast, the outriggers do look a bit...puny. That's a bit of a shame, really. I am curious though how things work technically. How did you raise the boom, in particular. By the way, what about that smaller blue crane on the last two pictures? Is that yours too? Are there more pictures of that? Quote

The blue one is here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106397&hl= The outriggers of the big beast are strong enough, if a bit short. Strength, and the fact that they lock down, was more important than looks in this case. Having a bulky but rigid studded Technic chassis helps a lot here. The boom is raised by a large brick built linear actuator, which works well with an XL motor with conservative gearing - unless it's fully extended when the motor does struggle to lift it. I'll get some more detail pics up soon. Quote
Kman860 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Amazing...I don't know what to say... Edited October 14, 2015 by Kman860 Quote
nerdsforprez Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 A Model Team skin but a Technic heart I am not sure there is really a distinction anymore.... is there? I have been grappling with this for a while now, but so many more that are so much more well-known in the Technic community have not said anything, so I haven't either. But nowadays, hardly anything is really Technic anymore. Or at least a lot of the more popular builds. The builds that seem to get the most attention, (and I am NOT taking anything away from them, they are simply amazing) just aren't Technic the way something like a Sheepo model or something is. VFracingteam's models, Sariel's models, and the like rarely seem Technic anymore. They still have the fundamental elements of Technic, and all the functionality.... but according to piece count, perhaps not?? I don't know.... Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 That is rather large, well done!!! Quote
Milan Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 This is awesome! Use of that tires gives it some good old vibe! I have obtained quite a few of those in the last few years, and they are great for 1:13 trucks and machinery. For this crane they fit perfect for some 1:15 scale! I like the smooth surfaces and colors. I am curious how it will perform in the video. Looking forward to it. Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 OMG this is awsome, you have my vote, i can't wait for a vid Quote
JJ2 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 So accurate! When I saw this I had to blow my nose...... So much SNOT . Anyway do I spy a broken U joint in this picture? Left most axle. Quote

KirTech LAB Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Excellent work! Most of all I'm impressed by picture with full boom extended - it looks a bit dangerous :))) Quote

Left most axle. No, it's intact. Obscured by some bracing, probably. I've not succeeded in breaking any UJs on this. Gears, yes, but not UJs amazingly... Quote
JJ2 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Oh, OK I see it now :) That is amazing how no UJ's have been broken..... Quote
Jim Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I'm afraid I can't allow this MOC in the contest. It's a great MOC, but it's already shown at an event. I know the rules state "never posted before" but it also means "never shown before". I will alter the specific rule. Contest are meant to build a new MOC, not to enter an existing MOC, already shown oline or at an event. I hope you will understand why that wouldn't be fair. Quote

Like I told Milan, my interpretation had been 'not posted online', but it was shown at an event a few days prior to appearing here so that's that. Quote
