VBBN Posted February 3, 2014 As a resident fan of Transformers, even the "baysplosion movies" excite me, as it means a new toyline and a fun midnight release. I can't always take some of the choices Bay has made seriously, and I struggle to respect Revenge of the Fallen, but I enjoy the movies. Anyway Up until this point it's been purely rumors and speculation, and guesses as to who characters are and what the storyline will be. As expected, the 30 second superbowl spot really doesn't help much in that speculation, but first here is the trailer for those who haven't seen it The CGI Is very preliminary Now a couple things can be gathered from this [POTENTIAL SPOILERS] -The character walking in front of the large ship, with the face that turns into the gun, is Lockdown He is also standing to the left retracting his claw/saw in the shot where prime is hanging upside down. it is believed this is inside Lockdown's ship. Lockdown's alt mode is a Lamborghini Aventador -The old prime is the on being shot, suggesting that he is then reformatted into the new truck and new body(the one he has when he is on top of grimlock). He is also diving over the chevy sonic -The silver guy cutting a car in half is a corpse next to prime when he is getting shot, which suggests that prime defeats it and then Lockdown brings prime down shortly after. Many believe this to be the Argosy Semi that was seen on set, but it's still unclear. There was a poster that said "he's watching you" released a few months back and it had this guys face, so his significance is yet unknown. -The green figure parachuting down with the trenchcoat is Crosshairs, the green corvette -The two headed flying beast is grabbing on to bumblebee, and is a "dinobot" (he is technically swoop or Doublecross, but apparently his name is Strafe in the movie) -Obviously the giant beast at the end is Grimlock with the new prime on top. Both Grimlock and Strafe are a mix of dragon and dinosaur. I know most of this discussion is taking place over at TFW, but might as well have some chat about it here as well. Freddy Bricker Posted February 4, 2014 I don't think the original Transformers movies were terrible, and I wasn't a huge fan by any extent. I haven't watched anything from the Hub show, but I don't feel like I need to to know that Dino-Bots are great! Here's to hoping Arcee gets a scene in the movie, or any motorcycle for that matter, they always were the most interesting to me. Though she started off as a car right, in the 80's cartoon? PenPlays Posted February 4, 2014 What may just make this movie better? The fact that the movie doesn't focus around a desperate teen and his love life. I find a father/daughter story to be much more gripping. But why the heck would I watch this movie for that reason. The Transformers look absolutely awesome! About "Strafe." Is there clear confirmation that it's a Dinbot? You'd think that with the Dinobots, they'd also add the Predacons as well. Just sayin' Lockdown looks like a beast, what with the head/cannon. (Sorry Transformers Animated Lockdown, I think you may have a replacement fav...) Crosshairs also has a certain flare (read epicness) that I find interesting as well. Then there's Grimlock... Sorry bud, but she got killed off in RotF :/ I'm not as excited as I was expecting I'd be about AoE. I mean, I loved the first three, and Grimlock is a definite pull, I just, dunno. Lego looked into it and opted not to proceed. Supposedly Lego told Hasbro that actual transforming Lego type building toys would not really be an option with the developed tech. So Hasbro then went and grabbed up Kre-O. Who couldn't solve the Transforming problem either. Cons - Michael Bay is like an evil opposite Santa Claus. He shows up one special weekend every summer y=to pee on our heads and destroy a piece of our childhoods in front of us. Further turning us into souless cubicle dwelling drones. Pro's - Even with the above said, My inner child squealed with the delight at the site of Optimus Prime riding Grimlock, while wielding a giant sword and shield, like something out of a Boris Valejo painting. Notice Optimus Prime gallantly riding the beast as they burst through the middle-east architecture. Of course, Grimlock, in many(if not all) of his iterations, is stubborn and doesn't like working with other bots. Combine that with his vicious T-Rex like demeanor, and you should have the typical Grimlock. Its usual for him to cause some tension with the Autobots in other words. This is a semi-reboot. There will be no direct connections to the human characters from the first trilogy (thank goodness!), but some of the Transformers, as well as the core storyline will still directly connect. These assumptions are of course given by this While It does not show the pteranodon (apologies if that's not the right dinosaur, I was never very good with their names) with two heads because there is no frontal view, the toy leak had listed it as being a Dinobot and was our first look at the two headed dinosaur before the trailer came out. The trailer is said to be a full 2 minutes and 22 seconds long! It is rumored to be released as a trailer starting March 7th during showings of 300: Rise of an Empire. Ultron Posted March 5, 2014 This movie looks dumb, not that I had high expectations based on the last few movies.... I rolled my eyes when he said "I think we've found a transformer" REALLY? Are the transformers hiding from the government now or something? That's so stupid! Mark Wahlberg annoys me as well. They honestly need to stop basing the "transformer" movies around the humans because no one cares about them. I'd go watch a lame action movie if I really cared about humans as the main characters. And it looks like Optimus is gonna get his megablocks beat for 3/4 of the movie AGAIN and probably die AGAIN before coming back in the last five minutes and winning the battle. Also, I don't see how the dinobots are going to fit in with this movie and it doesn't look like they're even going to talk which is so disappointing. Rant over.
