Personally love the botanical range, but there is some flowers that i feel are missing and would love to have on display, this Water Lily is one of them I tried to keep the design clean and simplewith just a few parts to break up the flater areas, if you like it you can find the Ideas link in my signature.

I was just on the 'Everything we know so far' page for 2021, which I check regularly, and realised that despite I having known about both these sets for at least a month, I've seen almost no discussion of them Eurobricks. If there has been, can a mod please merge or delete this post. Just for the details: 10280 Flower Bouquet 756 pieces US$49.99 / EUR49.99 / £44.99 10281 Bonsai 878 pieces US$49.99 / EUR49.99 / £44.99 These are the first two unbranded small 18+ sets. The PPP seems pretty good. 10281 is listed on Brickset now, but with no info. 10280 is not. Interestingly, 10281 has been put under 'Sculptures' - the fourth in this category, after Statue of Liberty, LEGO Minifigure, and LEGO Dragon (all released 20 years previously). Both sets are scheduled for release January 2021. A leaked image of the Bonsai was posted on Instagram today, probably resulting in Brickset adding it to their inventory. What do you think of these sets? Is the small size a good thing? Do you see many more being released in the future? If so, what? Discuss below.

Here is my entry for the Alternate Build contest using one copy of LEGO 10311 Orchid to create this scene of a praying Mantis escaping a garden filled with dangerous tools. This build depicts the following: A praying mantis A manual grass cutter with spinning blades and wheels! White hibiscus flower with stem and fallen pedals A handheld cultivator/ garden fork A pair of yellow garden scissors/shears (Functional, it can be opened and closed ) My main focus was to create a dynamic scene which leaned into playability, but also looked nice and cohesive. I started with the mantis, then, I figured that the blue and gray parts could be used on garden tools to make them appear as a part of a set or collection, similar to how brands will make all their products a certain color. The unorthodox combination of unique parts in this set meant that I had to use parts in new ways to make stable connections that also looked how I wanted. I managed to use roughly 85-90% of the included parts, I never realized how most botanical sets are essentially disguised techinic sets haha. The large quantity of technic parts forced me to build with a completely different mindset since I typically build with mostly system parts. It was difficult for me to make something stable that resembled a mantis, but I've gained a new appreciation for technic's usage for structural stability and dynamic components. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the build! Welcome to the Olympic Gardens! I'm by no means an engineer, but I started out wanting to create a beautiful domed European-style modular. There was going to be a tower, and a balcony, and an arcade along the front, to enhance my city layout. I got to the bottom of the dome and it did NOT translate well to the tower portion. The angles were terrible! So instead, I pivoted and turned it into a garden pavilion. And I like the result so much better! Some of my favorite parts are the planters holding the cypress trees. The main portion is a technic piece that makes a really cool textured planter. I'm a big fan of gardens and fountains, so there's tons of flowers and greenery in the finished build, and a main fountain up on the level with the pavilion. The cow horns near the bottom of the model (under the arches) were originally supposed to be teacups, but I didn't realize until too late that the pieces were too big for the gaps until later. So it's just a cool bit of statuary now. I plan to try and recreate this MOC in real bricks soon, as soon as I can order new bricks. It has more of a diorama style footprint than I normally do in my MOCs, so I can display the finished model on my shelf. There's tons of little details hidden in the scene as well, such as animals and lost coins, and bees everywhere. The flower bushes in the planters at the top of the stairs utilize a cool little piece with three studs, where I inserted the vines and green wolverine claws. The koi tiles are my absolute favorite, so I knew I had to include some in the build. I also like to make up primary stories to go with the MOCs I build, and for this one, the lady gets a text to meet her friend the artist at the park for a portrait painting. I also like the little grapes in the garden pavilion, they give it more of a pastoral atmosphere that I like to see in real-life gardens. The only thing that's really silly is that the balustrade on the side is a bit off center compared to the main balustrades, but that's something I can tinker with more when I build it in real bricks. Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any comments! :) Edit: I've created a time-lapse of the digital build, you can see it below: It took a lot longer to edit than to take all the photos, video software likes to keep crashing when you add 2,766 photos to it and try to shorten the frame length all at once!
