  1. Am I the only one who really likes the carriage set? The setup with the two trees is awesome, and can be useful for a Forestmen or Elves setup... and the carriage itself is, in my opinion, the best Castle carriage made by LEGO so far. The figures are great as well, as you get 2 Dragon knights (who can't use more of those?) and a king fig that is not only an inexpensive way to get him as well as something different for those who already have him. Too bad about the prints on the horses, but it's a minor issue to me. I think all sets but the blacksmith and maybe the prison are a bit overpriced, though. But that's just the way LEGO runs their game nowadays.
  2. Woah, this is wicked cool. I used to build Transformers out of LEGO when I was a kid, though quite naturally they looked nothing like this.
  3. Some of the POTC sets look really good, and I'll be getting The London Escape to use for Castle - but imo, the POTC sets, good as they are, are not as good as the upcoming Kingdoms sets this year.
  4. I just got myself the 2008 7979 Castle Advent Calendar, yay! I still lack the Kingdoms calendar from 2010 though... but it's a good start!
  5. With the success of the collectable minifigures, I really don't see why LEGO shouldn't also be able to profit from doing battlepacks with knights not necessarily features in sets (be it new versions of old factions or entirely new ones).
  6. Yup,I'm like that. I don't care whether it's the same king or something completely different, as long as it's an interesting fig in itself. But even if it wasn't, I'd still love the set for having the best carriage LEGO ever produced (in my personal opinion) and two awesome trees from which a couple of neat Dragon knights ambush. I love that set and will definately get it! It's so insanely better than the Fantasy Castle carriage. In fact, I'm really hyped about all the new sets. I think they're generally much better than the initial Kingdoms wave, which apart from the great figs overall did not impress me all that much (apart from the Dragon tower, which I will definately be getting hopefully soonish).
  7. ...which is why it would be cool if they did an updated design.
  8. I would love it. I could see why they wouldn't want to make sets for 3-4 different knight factions, as things would get repetitive. But a few exclusive battlepacks for eg. the Crusaders and Black Falcons would be way cool. And I think they could definately benefit from re-introducing the Forestmen as a third faction in 2012, to shake things up a bit with more variety and something new. With better trees and more use of brown these days, there's even a good chance that they could produce even better Forestmen sets than back in the good old days...
  9. Very nice, London Escape just keeps impressing me.
  10. Awesome boxart, that mill set keeps getting better.
  11. Well, like I said: the shop I found lists it as being more expensive. I don't see any logic in them choosing to go against all logic and arbitrarily go against the LEGO MSRP tiers, but you are of course free to believe otherwise. Here are the prices they list: The Captain's Cabin - € 11,99 Isla De la Muerta - € 19,99 Fountain of Youth - € 19,99 The Cannibal Escape - € 29,99 The Mill - € 39,99 The London Escape - € 49,99 Whitecap Bay - € 79,99 Queen Anne's Revenge - € 119,99 The Black Pearl - € 129,99 Now while the difference in price is not much between the two ships, it's still there. So TBP shouldn't be less impressive than QAR, at least.
  12. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but The Black Pearl has a higher MSRP than Queen Anne's Revenge - suggesting that it will indeed be a bigger ship. I just noticed this randomly at an online shop and wanted to share with the eager POC'ers...
  13. Congrats, it looks like a neat set with nice parts.
  14. I'm really really impressed with the quality and diversity of these new sets, and will try to get them all if I can. LEGO really seems to have stepped up with 2011 Kingdoms and this could easily end up being my favourite Castle theme of all time.
  15. I might get a couple of sets for Castle and get rid of the flesh minifigs.
  16. Wow, some of those sets just keep getting more and more impressive. In spite of it's steep price, I'll have to get London Escape at some point. It's awesome, and will fit brilliantly in my Castle collection! None of the minifigs really interest me, however.
  17. That's some really good stuff, looks like a legit LEGO set.
  18. Yeah really good question, I was wondering about that too! Also: could someone explain how the popquiz answers were to tell us to add those numbers...?
  19. I think that's a pretty biased statement, to be honest. I love both themes, and I can see plenty of reasons why someone would like one over the other. But variety speaking in favour of the Pirates theme? That I just do not see. Look both up on Brickpedia, Castle has had MUCH more varied subthemes over the years... MUCH more varied factions. Pirates have had Pirates, Soldiers (either blue or red, not the biggest of differences - they even had the same flag!) and, for a few years, Islanders. Castle have had a whole bunch of different knight factions, Forestmen, Wolfpack, Skeletons, Vikings, Ninjas, Samurais, Trolls, civilians, etc... while Pirates have had ships, islands and forts, Castle have had castles (well duh), towers, civilian buildings, ships, siege engines, forest dwellings, etc... Now this is in no way me knocking on Pirates, I don't necessarily think it's a weakness that it has a limited scope. I prefer Castle above Pirates, but variety has nothing to do with it. I just don't feel your argument for more variety in the Pirates theme is sound at all, no offense.
  20. This is pretty off topic, I know... but I do believe the Japanese made such a movie once. But yeah, LEGO - much more than any other toy I can think of - has a GREAT parental appeal that I can't see being rivalled.
  21. Transformers started as toys as well. Hasbro were just smart and decided to license both a tv show and a comic book in order to promote said toy. But I agree that without especially the tv show, they probably wouldn't have gotten that huge. And yes, I believe Transformers is bigger than LEGO when speaking of brands. Though why did this discussion and comparison start in the first place...?
  22. I was thinking $35.
  23. I think this actually means a great deal for LEGO's current succes.
