  1. Perhaps we can look at MMV as an indicator? That one is still around (at least for a bit longer) even though the Castle theme it was a part of stopped in what, 2009? Same with the Imperial Flagship. The exclusives seem to be around somewhat longer than the regular sets. Thankfully, as I would have never gotten MVV otherwise!
  2. All Kingdoms sets are discontinued. I'm very pleased myself to have bought the castle and the mill village raid just yesterday, before it's too late (and at 50 % off due to them being on clearance). I know down the line that I'd regret missing out on them. Expensive LEGO month for me though, as I've already bought medieval market village, prison tower escape, blacksmith attack and prison carriage rescue (not to mention the pirate soldier's fort)... but again: I just didn't want to miss out. Who knows how long we'll be starved from proper castle sets this time? Could be years...
  3. Oh I'm sufficiently overwhelmed as is.
  4. Although 7187 was sold out, I managed to snatch both 7189 Mill Village Raid as well as 7946 King's Castle at 50 % off today! A very pleasing result, although I would have really liked 7187 as well. But I certainly cannot complain.
  5. Wow, impressive stuff. And very space-consuming! One of the dinos look like a Xenomorph, I like that.
  6. I'm completely speechless.
  7. Nicely done. Though if I am to nitpick (and I clearly am ), the European-style coat of arms shield does not fit well into the Egyptian-Persian style imo...
  8. After longing it for a while, I got this set a couple of days ago - and I like it! It has interesting and varied parts and good figs, and I love the modularity. I think it's one of the better medium-sized Pirate-themed forts LEGO has ever done, actually. It surely impresses next to my old Lagoon Lock-up. Only major complaint with it is the lame one-piece palm three... but that can be replaced with an old one. While others have complained about LEGO using stickers instead of prints, it actually pleases me as I have chosen not to apply them and can thus use the bricks for other things where eg. red brick stickers may not fit so well.
  9. I managed to get 6242 Soldiers Fort brand new for a good price. I've been wanting that set ever since I first saw it, and in spite of being mainly into Castle the allure was just too strong for me to pass up on it.
  10. I had a look at both this moc and others at your flikr page, and I must say: you do awesome work! Completely breath-taking setups imo. Keep it up!
  11. A nation-wide chain here is having 50 % on all Kingdoms sets starting December 27 - due to them being discontinued, they say. So while not being official, it's close enough for me: Kingdoms is dead. I'll be going to the nearest store in hope of getting Mill Raid and Escape from Dragon Prison before it's too late, which I fear it already may be... they had none left on their webshop at least.
  12. Same here. As with many licensed sets, they look more like something out of the old LEGO Studios theme than actual structural sets with interesting builds. Kingdoms shall be greatly missed if it's really gone.
  13. Those prelim sets really doesn't impress me much, though Moria and Helms Deep looks useful enough for pieces. It will be interesting to see the first real pictures of the sets.
  14. Ridiculous complaints. Barbie, My Little Pony, Care Bears, etc... other toy companies has been doing stereotypic feminine, pink girl toys for AGES. Why lash out at LEGO? If girls played as much with ordinary LEGO as boys, they wouldn't be doing such a line. But clearly, they did research that showed that girls would like this kind of stuff.
  15. Really? Wow. That's even cheaper than what I paid, and I felt that was a good price. Nice find! Which amazon was that?
  16. I accidentally stumbled across a site that, apart from being around 20-25 % cheaper with LEGO than most retail shops, also had an additional 15 % off for a limited time... so I bought the following Castle sets: 10193 Medieval Market Village (been wanting this one real bad since I first saw it, and figured it was about to be last call!) 7947 Prison Tower Rescue 7949 Prison Carriage Rescue 6918 Blacksmith Attack Wanted to get 7187 Escape from Dragon's Prison as well, but it was sold out. I'll get that together with 7189 Mill Village Raid as soon as I see a good sale. Hopefully in January, I don't want to miss out on especially MVR. A good haul though, and I'm very excited to now own MMV - which is one of the very best LEGO sets I have ever seen.
  17. I find this to be a needlesly provocative statement. I'm not hating on LOTR, as I'm sure neither is the case for most people expressing grief in this thread. I'm just sad that what I deem to be the best Castle subtheme LEGO has done since the 80's is now as good as dead. It has nothing to do with "hate" for LOTR. In fact, I love the LOTR movies and look forward to The Hobbit, and I might buy some sets in spite of the fleshie minifigs. I just see no reason why you can't let us be sad without such a ridiculous troll comment. Go have fun in the LOTR thread instead. That's true enough. I really like(d) Kingdoms though, and will miss the subtheme deerly.
  18. R.I.P LEGO Castle.
  19. A true classic indeed, and good price I must say! All those grey wall pieces almost makes me drool... I didn't really think much of the green/white flag combination untill you pointed it out, but now that I looked more closely I actually really really like the combo. It mixes well. How long did the build take you?
  20. I definately agree. I understand why they're doing all those licensed themes, but I hope it doesn't come to the point where it's all they do and only their City line being "original". I like LOTR, but licensed themes does two things I dislike: racks up the already very steep prices and gives us fleshie minifigs. No thanks to both. Besides, Kingdoms is the best Castle subtheme since the 80's - if not their best ever! And the last Castle Fantasy line showed that they can do fantasy stuff just fine without a license. I'm personally hoping for an expanded Kingdoms theme this year with a third faction. Forestmen or Black Falcons would be amazing.
  21. For what it's worth, Brickpedia says the following:
  22. I'm sorry that you feel offended and violated, but I don't feel I did anything wrong; I found the pics, as I said, on Brickpedia where there were *no* notice whatsoever of any copyrights as far as I could see. I don't appreciate being accused of deceipt and theft, and I wish you had bothered to actually check whether my story held true (as others have thankfully verified) before making any such accusations. While I do understand your wish to defend your copyright, I posted these pictures here in good faith - and if anyone here is being rude, it is most certainly you. My apologies for bumping an old thread like this, but I only stumbled across this now and felt a need to defend myself from what I deem to be completely groundless accusations.
  23. I also posted this in the more general "what did you buy today" thread, but noone seemed impressed there... so maybe people here will be more inclined to appreciate how cool a bargain this was : I got 4 Castle 5615 for less than $1 each, quite a bargain! I already regret not buying all they had... think they had 3-4 more of them.

  25. Awesome set, I definately want it. But I'll likely be waiting for a sale, steep price.
