But it will be in the Ninjago theme...
-
I would personally really love if they finally brought out the Europa theme, as it's basically a combination of my two favourite LEGO themes: Castle and Pirates. I've often considered throwing together my sets from both themes for a singular display, using pretty much all buildings (with minor modifications to some Castle buildings) and ships from both themes, all minifigs from Pirates and the civilian (and king) minifigs from Castle. I really don't see them doing another Ninja line as long as they have Ninjago, which seems to be a HUGE seller for them. Western, in spite of having some charm, doesn't interest me the least bit and I really think they, for the most part, blew it with the last Vikings line. Roman or, probably more likely, Greek themes could work. I could definately see them doing Ancient Greece with mythological creatures, sort of as a combination of Fantasy Castle and Atlantis. And they already have new interesting molds to use, like the Greek soldier and the minotaur. I doubt I'll personally collect anything but Castle or Pirates (or Europa!) myself though.

I agree that the blue in the Fantasy line looked much better than the red in the Kingdoms line. But on the other hand, I think the dragon colours were the best in a Castle theme EVER. And the crownie shields were pretty boring and bland compared to either shield in Kingdoms (though I'd love to have seen the lion shield with dark blue instead of red, that would have been truly something special!). Structurally in terms of the sets, I definately don't agree with you that Fantasy had it better - and certainly not more diverse. I think that especially the last line in Kingdoms was incredibly diverse. I mean, look at MVR, King's Carriage and Blacksmith Attack... is that not diverse? But yeah, the dragon faction lacked a really good structure. Still, I actually rate Kingdoms as the best LEGO Castle subtheme ever, all in all. And I think it's really too bad we never got to see a dragon castle and a ship or two of some kind (which Fantasy at least did).

That's pretty awesome.

Brickbeard's Bounty better than Queen Anne's Revenge?
Hive replied to TheLegoChronicler's topic in LEGO Pirates
I don't own any of the ships (but plan on buying both POTC ships later this year), but judging from pictures of all the ships (which I have studied extensively) I'd definately say the QAR is the prettier ship. The colours are better, the sails are heaps better and the size is more impressive. BB does have a much better rear, though the cannon there kinda ruins it. I also like the BB figs more, but that's purely due to them being yellow instead of fleshie. I must admit that I'm impressed by the QAR minifig torsos (and the cool tan hat). -
Good review, but I'm really not impressed by the set as a whole. In no way does it live up to the MVV, and it doesn't fit well enough with the Castle - which I see as a wasted opportunity. It's great to see a Black Falcon knight, but apart from the shields there's not much new about it. To me, the set would have been better with just the royal stand and the actual jousting parts, with the Black Falcon, a Lion Knight, the squire and the new princess.

I am extremely impressed, amazing collection there. Though I can't quite make out what the castle left of MMV is...? -
Would you kindly present me with a reference to where exactly in my post you think I said anything about the length of LOTR? Did you even read my post at all? Because it sure doesn't look like it, judging from your weird reply.

Sweet! Clearance sale, here we come. But aside from myself being able to finally get some of these wonderful but expensive sets, I feel for all the fans and hope they'll bring it back when the next movie hits. :) -
Maybe if it didn't swoop in and seemingly kill off a really really beloved theme like Kingdoms, people would generally be less hostile to it. :) I like LOTR personally, but I don't like insanely inflated prices and fleshy minifigures - and I most certainly don't like Kingdoms ending. Are you basing this statement on some kind of hidden facts or purely your own level of fanboism? I don't doubt that LOTR has a very strong following, but I strongly doubt that ANY fantasy/sci-fi brand has as strong a following as Star Wars. But feel free to present me with facts stating otherwise.

I don't see LOTR becoming anywhere near as successful as SW, either. I can imagine it will be more successful than themes like PoTC and Prince of Persia, and probably around the same level as HP. At any rate, perhaps such discussions belong in the LOTR thread instead...?

Hmm $24 I think. Individual prices: 6087 - $69 6033 - $22 6013 - $17 each 5906 - $17 Total - $142 But if you buy them all, I'll sell the lot for $135.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
Hive replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't see this set as being nearly as good as MMV, to be honest. The main structure(s) does not look enough like King's Castle to fit with it without changing things around, in my view, and the only thing about the set that really stands out to me is the Black Falcon and his shields. And that's simply not worth the price to me. -
I was thinking something along the lines of $35 for both ($24 for Town Folks and $11 for Temple of Gloom).
-
I love it. Great colour scheme and nifty design. Looks like it could be a UCS.
-
I'm a bit jealous, I wish that and 30061 were available here as well.
-
I was thinking $55, though I must warn that as shipping to USA from here is kinda pricey - so it likely wouldn't be worth it for you to buy just one item in terms of shipping costs (at least not if sent as insured package).
-
First post updated with a bunch of new vintage sets.
-
I love it! Great use of real stones. I think Whitecap Bay would be a very fitting addition to your layout, as you will get a great lighthouse as well as a couple of fishing boats with nets for your fisherman theme.

One word: awesome.

I don't care the slightest about this theme, but still loved the review due to it trying to throw cold water in the faces of ridiculously angry feminists lashing out against these innocent sets. Spot on.

From a selfish point of view, I wouldn't mind POTC going on a hiatus and the current line going on clearance - so I can get 1 or 2 of the sets without having to pay those ridiculously high licensed theme prices for them... -
I'm surprised by the high piece counts on some of the sets, if they are accurate. They really don't look that big on the blurry pictures. Especially the two largest sets.

Love LOTR as a whole or not, I think it's a poor substitution for Kingdoms. I don't think kids are as much into it as adults, compared to themes like Superheroes, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc. The (at least current 3) movies are not exactly for kids. Also, there's no real structures to build... only scenes. No castles, no prison carriages, no towers, no mills, etc. All the sets are mainly just about the minifigs. Will they really appeal that much to kids? Many AFOL's dream, I know, but the kids...? I could be wrong of course, time will tell. But I feel Kingdoms leaves a gap that LOTR does not fully fill.
