7187 looks to be real value for money, and the mill is also excellent. The carriage is also nice, but it is too expensive... The new weapons are slightly below par. I don't feel the urge to have them. I also have enough blacksmiths from MMV and the Kingdoms Advent Calendar. Why did it have to be a blacksmith? I think blacksmiths are going to be what police is to city, repeated from time to time. Anyway, the sets on the whole are great, I will surely buy 7187 and 7189.

Wow, these are amazing! Great job everyone! It's hard to decide, I like too many of the entries. Waaay more than the 5 votes we are granted I decided to focus my votes on the ones I liked most instead of spreading them out. Alibabo: 3 points - nice, unobtrusive SNOT on the outside (but if you look close, it's everywhere!), many-many good ideas, and overall, excellent execution pif500: 2 points - great interior, nice technique on the stairs, and a dynamic scene

It wasn't clear from your original post for me either. Anyway, 6086 is a nice castle.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

Actually, some have weight equal with a precision of 0.1g. Pulling out that kind of precision scale at a store will attract quite a few conspicuous glances, I'm sure. A better option might be to join up forces with your local LUG, buy multiple boxes and share them. If you're part of a local LUG, that is. -
It looks very good, with a similar structure but also some differences so it's not exactly a carbon-copy. To be honest, I like the color-scheme a lot more than the original. I also noticed the dark-green lady. One thing: all of the slopes on the battlements are dark green; maybe you could replace some with pearl gold ones for variation.

Elf #5 today, as elves are the current hit for me. I hope to get more in the near future.

Collectible minifigures. Keep them or sell them ?
Stiel replied to Eisenaffe's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Supply-demand is key. The best figures are those which are not available in established themes AND people will want many of them for army-building. Most notably the zombie, the Spartan and the elf. For everything else, the price will go up too, but slower, so investment-wise, they are not so good. I would hang on to that three for now (or in case of CM3, only the elf), and sell everything else. This way, you can make most of your money back right now (maybe even a little bit more) and earn a pretty good sum in a year or two. -

Yes, it was definitely sealed, that's the point. -

Fred67's list is pretty spot-on, I'll just add a few remarks: - elf: the bow is easy, but the shield is not (for me at least) - pilot & samurai: each has a rectangular-shaped item (backpack & armor, respectively), but the backpack has a neck bracket, too - alien is the only figure that has no regular head -
Excellent work! I like how the spectators dine while the poor scouts are being executed. Medieval ages were cruel times indeed...

US prices should be around $10-20-40-70. People, don't just convert Singaporean prices directly. Comparing Singaporean prices to the price of already released sets for reference gives a much more realistic estimate. For example, 7187 costs the same as 7948 in Singapore (plus box size is the same, too), so it should be $20 in the US etc.

So is there any consensus on what's in an unopened box? Is the distribution random or fixed? Thanks in advance. -
S$ means Singaporean dollar. It should be $40 in the US. That's still somewhat higher than expected (I would have guessed $30), but maybe the trees are bigger than they look on the box art.
-
Great, thank you a lot! That translates to roughly $10-20-40-70 for the new sets, right?

Left from the yellow car, that should be Dragon's Prison indeed. The front of the box picture is different from the preliminary version, but the box size fits and the twin towers are very similar to the prelim. Above it, it's clearly the carriage, the white horses and white roof gives it away. Above that, in the top left, next to the 5766 Creator log house, you can see half of a box of the Windmill set, so the bottom one has to be something else. Maybe an exclusive...? Edit: it looks similar to 7946 King's Castle, but not quite the same; picture of 7946 box:

Excellent scene! Apart from what's already been said, I also like that the base is not rectangular, and the dragon flag is also a nice touch. Well done.

6 dragons vs 8 lions at the moment, but it's gonna be 9 vs 8 soon.

Best sets to buy to build a MOC-able collection?
Stiel replied to moc2's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Larger Creator houses are nice; they offer an excellent range of bricks to build... well... houses. Keep an eye out for clearance sales. Material-wise, older sets are just as good as new ones, but potentially a lot cheaper. -
Great use of the bats to create that circular shape at the end of the staff. I never thought of that before, but it works to a good effect. Awesome! The building is nice, the figures dynamic, and as I see, capes are obligatory equipment for wizards in your area.

Three indicators implying that it should be a regular set: Age: 7-14, just like for King's Castle (7946). On Medieval Market Village (10193), age was just 12+. In the catalogue, it's batched together with the smaller, regular sets. More action-oriented (village attack), just like regular sets aimed at kids. MMV was intended for adults and was focused on details rather than action.

Thanks for the pics! My guesses on the pricing: 6918 - looks to be $10 rather than $8. 7187 - wishful thinking says $20, that would be excellent; it's possibly a bit more, but definitely less than $30. Edit: looking at the box size again, I'd say it's the same size as 7948. Fingers crossed for $20. 7188 - this looks like $30. Comparable to the last royal carriage (7078), but also has two trees. 7189 - somewhere between $60 and $80. At $60, it would be fantastic, but it's probably closer to $80.

All the pearl light gray weapons got slightly darker. I like this new color more (although I'm fine with the old version too, I will stick to those with my Fantasy Era army). It's a bit sad they aren't a separate color on BrickLink, because it makes it harder to obtain the proper shade you want. Picture (clicky): From left to right: pearl light gray (fantasy era), pearl light gray (kingdoms), pearl dark gray, black

Castle! Exclusively. I love that theme, and I'm also on a very tight budget, so it makes sense to not dabble into anything else. Apart from buying sets, I also order figs from BL to build armies (10-30 figs/faction). It works for me.
