I envy you a lot... anyway, I hope to have my own army soon enough. Heads: I suppose the regular heads look good enough with the elf hairpiece. Lady: the McGonagall robe is a good idea, it looks great on the lady! There is actually a dark green version as well, though that might prove to be too dark.

Kingdoms. Mostly for the figs. Less Advent-oriented overall, but fantastic figures and some creative subsets. I'd say it's more value for money than the City one.
-
In Kingdoms, there is a more-or-less confirmed Medieval Windmill exclusive set coming out early 2011, but there is zero news about the regular summer wave of Kingdoms.
-
Wow! And his necklace, too. He stands out enough, and that was the point, I guess. The design of the hat seems interesting, would be nice to get a closer look...

Yeah, it sounds pretty serious. It took me several minutes to put it on, even outside. I have bag-built quite a few subsets of the Kingdoms Advent Calendar. I have one unopened box left for December, I plan to do all of those (and take pictures as well).

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

If your response to identical bags would be to just keep on buying random bags until you get your, say, 300 Spartans, then yes, you would be doing more 'damage' than if you just bought the 300 bags containing the Spartans. However, I assume that most cherry pickers wouldn't do this. And as long as there remains at least one random bag in a case, little Timmy has a positive chance to get any minifigure from that bag, as opposed to cases after being cherry-picked. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 poll

It's gotta be the elf. The minifigure itself is already great, but so are the others; what makes him stand out is the plethora of equipment. New longbow, nice shield and a cape (when a quiver would have been just as justified). I can't think of anything else to ask for. -
That's true, but apart from rarity, is it really that better than Metallic Silver? If I buy this set, I will definitely replace it. On the set: more colorful than I hoped for. It contains a door, two windows, a minifig and some bley bricks and slopes, but I fear that this is still not going to be worth it. Ah well.

Quick Brickset search shows that 2003 was such a year. That said, my bet is that they are back to 3-year pattern (KKII 2004-2006, Fantasy Era 2007-2009). Let's hope there is more Kingdoms goodness coming.

It's also bigger than the old bow. You can't position the old one like that, with the minifig's arm inside. That said, me too, would have preferred to have no arrow attached, like the Brickforge bow.
-
Inspiring! Makes it that much harder to wait for the Elf minifigure in CM3. Guess I will have to collect more than a handful after all.
-
A new bow might actually be coming with the Elf minifig from CM vol. 3. Check out the picture to see if you agree with me. Link to topic.

Nice one. The MMV influence is clearly recognizable: not just the birds, but the table, tree and minifigure choices as well. That doesn't take away anything from the scene though.

Pink knights are a different issue, it can happen in normal boxed sets as well. It's because at first they only applied one layer of white paint to red torsos. However, it is supposedly fixed now, so only a small portion of the sets have this problem (the first batch produced). The battle packs have entirely different quality material (so it's not just the painting); softer, less shiny pieces, and it's like that in every single battle pack. Admittedly, both issues are kind of annoying. For the record, I opened 3 Advent Calendars so far, and there was no sign of pink. So... I wouldn't worry about it in the case of the calendar.

It's very nice. I also like the modifications you made to the front (like the shield & flagpole exchanged). Good work.

Never mind me, sorry.

This should easily go into the Historic Photography thread. The photographing makes this already great work totally outstanding.
-
Great scene, very moving indeed! I especially liked the choice for the faces, but the other details, like the fire and blood, are also nice.
-
Great use of the clips and handles. The shield is a good idea. Also, I love the positioning, it adds a lot to the whole picture. Great job!

Yes, that's the model of a Siemens Combino tram currently in use in Budapest. More about it on MOCpages.

The nice thing about this set is that it has an appeal to so many different people. We split several boxes with people from my LUG, and this is how it went: - there were people (not just castle fans!) interested in the exclusive and rare items, like the queen, pig etc. without having to buy a full box; - army builders happily took the common soldiers at a pretty good price; - some went for the accessories like the armor rack or sword in stone (3 swords!) at very low prices; - and there was a guy who took all the remaining accessories/basic bricks at scrap price. Of course, if you buy a box just for yourself, it's just as well. Overall, this set has great value for money, probably the best among current Kingdoms sets.

Indeed there is. Review of the set.
