Thanks! I like to add these tiny scenes to reward careful viewers. A bit of green next to buildings is a good idea. I will look into it. I'm a bit hesitant on the brown as it would indeed take a lot of plates. But I also see that it would be more realistic. I will try to figure out an efficient solution. Yes, some of the torsos are stickered. The white female on the right is an original design. The idea was to add more color like white, orange or red as there aren't many widely available medieval torsos in those colors. And here is a birds-eye view of the entire town (first picture version):

Another version, with larger market area.

Nope. dr_spock has the right idea though...

OK, here we go with the first house. It's the goldsmith. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=579518 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Stiel/Medieval-Town/Goldsmith/1.jpg

Well, that's what you get for giving a flower to the wrong woman. Thanks! I usually mix up the arrangement a bit from one event to the next one. I have one more closeup from the above version, but I will upload a lot of closeups from another version (with slightly bigger marketplace area) and also some panorama shots.

Thanks! I like to include easter eggs here and there. Find the unfaithful husband, too!

Hey, just wanted to share this picture about the market in my medieval town. :) I will add more pictures soon, including about individual houses.

I'm going to blatantly steal everything These are very inspiring! I look forward to the rest.

Set Advice? Joust, Raid, somethinge else or wait?
Stiel replied to Isundir's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Mind you, the Kingdoms Joust set is not bad for parts either. Buy it, enjoy it until the new line comes out, and then you can scrap it for parts. It seems to me you can't really go wrong with that set. -
The Lannisters (Cersei, Tywin, Jaime) at the trial by combat of Tyrion. Oberyn taunts The Mountain. (The guy obscured by the sword is Mace Tyrell, but he is not that great anyway). I am pretty happy with Cersei and Oberyn. Tyrion in chains, and Ellaria Sand on the far left. And The Mountain.

So this is my take on the trial by combat scene between the Mountain and the Viper (Gregor Clegane and Oberyn Martell) from Game of Thrones. It's built on a 48x48 baseplate (a friend called it a 'bignette'). I played out the entire scene throughout, so only check the folder if you don't mind spoilers. That said, here are a few non-spoilery pictures: Folder (public after moderation, but up until then, the pictures are called 01.jpg through 22.jpg): http://www.brickshel...ntain-vs-Viper/

Someone please tell the MSRP for the sets (in USD). Thanks in advance.

It wouldn't make much sense business-wise to release 5 big sets at once. I am assuming it is a regular wave with the sets across a proper price range (between ~$10 and ~$100). If these rumours are even true, that is.

I say buy Helms Deep, sell the LotR figures now, and buy a Kingdoms chess set instead of the battle packs. This set is coming next year: http://bilder.bueche...9/36339439z.jpg New princess and new horse in a small set.

Lots of great details! My favorite is the sand green house and the trees, but the rest is just as awesome. Side note: if you want to add one more knight to the tourney, the KKII shadow knights (Vladek & co.) had a nice barding and the dark red/black tent would also look good.

Darth Caedus: you got two Filis and no Kili in your list (I would guess the second Fili to be Kili from the description).

Which Hobbit set are you most looking forward to?
Stiel replied to Ferrik's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Bag End. The minifigures are nice in every set, but the rest of the scenes are not that interesting for me. They still have decent parts, so it's not a complete waste, but I am not willing to pay the license markup for general rock/tree/interior pieces. Mirkwood spiders is OK since that's a smaller set, but I am likely to skip the rest. -
I'm thinking the same thing. If only I knew for sure I would get it and not an older box... It would be nice to have some more info (either positive or negative) from other people who ordered the chess set recently. Anyone?
-
I think this is more of a variant of the classic shortsword, since the general shape is the same. TLG sometimes doesn't make a difference between such variants. Still, it is nice to see it updated. Also, the white on your soldier's torso is actually white! Woot. Maybe this is from a newer wave of chess sets, with improved quality?
-
Wow, this is great! It looks nicely fortified. I miss such raised baseplate nowadays...
-
So, what's with that Uruk-hai polybag? I remember reading that it will be available in some UK newspaper promotion, but I don't recall the details. Is it The Sun? And which week? Is this even confirmed at all? Any information on this would be welcome.
-
$20 off from the normal price, not $20 total. (I've missed it at first reading, too.) That's still $110, which is nice, but not a reason for hate.
-
I was going to write the same. I also bought 4 for a low price, plus one I got from my brother for my birthday. That's a good start. Next up is Helm's Deep, Orc Forge and one more Uruk-hai Army.

They didn't release any new minifigures before in sets like this, so the barmaid torso seems like a shoo-in. Sure, the sand green lady from the joust would have been nice, but I assume they wanted to stick to the dark green color scheme. I completely agree with you in that I would have paid a bit more to avoid these issues. The misprint on the queen's head seems to be an isolated problem, as other people weren't having it. Well, I keep saying to myself that in regular sets, you can still expect good quality. It would have been nice to get the same quality in a chess set for once, of course, but it didn't happen. Maybe next time. Indeed, all of the figures have stamps on the inside of the arms and no neck marks. Well, it is like that on the box art and in general, it seems more intuitive that way.
