  1. The advent calendar seems to lack a green plume for the dragon knight. Otherwise, it's good and still a must-buy. Almost like MMV without the buildings. Also, plenty of good ideas and accessories inside. The big castle is looking tidy, slightly smaller than 7094, but I guess that's another way of raising prices (price remains the same, size goes slightly down). I don't mind too much, as I think it looks better. Also, less minifigures overall, but all of them are human, which is a plus (for me). Only concern is that we don't get a proper lion knight, which is in the other big set. It's like the message is: 'if you want good minifigure selection, buy all sets'. Understandable from a marketing viewpoint, but still slightly annoying. Seconded.
  2. We have seen this happen several times, for example in 7092. Look at the knight's helmet here: http://castle.lego.com/en-gb/products/castle/7092.aspx and then at the shop: http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=7092 (The first one is what you actually find in the box.) So the morale is that even on lego.com, it is possible that you find the wrong picture.
  3. 2010 looks to be a good year for you, two brand-new factions coming out this summer!
  4. Only Austria, Germany and Switzerland yet. I find it funny that it is not available in Denmark yet.
  5. Oh, I forgot about that, that's the other conspicious detail. The dragons have 4 copies of the checkered torso (and one that's covered by a plate), while they are known to have a different one in another set. Also, lion knights have a pretty balanced torso distribution. So it's strange. But then again, I am only guessing. Edit: and one more thing to consider is the color of hips. Lion knights in boxed sets have black hips, but not in the battle packs.
  6. Crown is also w/ plume. Also, I wouldn't count on the battlepacks being final versions. They look real enough for sure, but they could be prelims. The color of weapons in the dragon pack seems to be inconsistent with other sets. Any confirmation on this would be nice.
  7. Fantasy Era big castle and troll fortress both had 10 figures (counting the giant trolls), and, for example, the drawbridge set also had 7, several of them exclusive or rare. Is this new dragon tower also going to be $40 MSRP (or $45 or w/e with price increase, you get it)? If so, it's not so bad, but even then, it's just plain 2 figures less.
  8. The lack of minifigures bothers me slightly. 8 total for the big castle? Not even a proper knight among them? And only 5 total for the second biggest set... those battle packs will be really needed.
  9. Figs & accessories are great, the carriage is poor but that's not important anyway. Good set (not outstanding, you would need a good carriage for that). Also, funny head on the lion knight. I would have expected something more grim/determined for someone engaging the enemy.
  10. In 2000, the Knight's Kingdom line had four small sets of the same size (set numbers 4816-4819), each containing a different chrome minifig accessory, making them nicely collectable (and the actual sets were also good on their own). Now I don't really care for the special parts that much, but I like the idea of a small mini-series as part of a bigger theme. My idea: each faction could get a set that consists of a structure and 2 minifigures, similar in size to 6040 or 6041, with the building based on a 6x16 plate and being specific to that faction, e.g. forestmen could get a tree with a bush, dwarves something rocky, skeletons a bone hall, knight factions could get proper military buildings (small tower, fortified wall section) etc. What do you think?
  11. Decent set, the figs look good, however, figure/price ratio is not quite up there as it was in early Fantasy Era (say, 7090 and 7091). That, plus the lack of a dragon shield make this set only average for me. Still a must buy though... Edit: the plumes are nice!
  12. Wow! I like the inquisitor with the cross, and also the weightlifter. The bridge is also nice. Simple, but great design on the buck, I've been looking for the idea for some time. I'm gonna steal that if you don't mind. Lots of fun details. Great job!
  13. My first set was 6041: Black sword is in good condition, but the flag is broken and faded. Several of the other, more common pieces are faded or missing.
  14. Great background, good solution on the splintered door. On the troll: I think the head could be a little bigger; and the torso more hunched. But that's just how I think of a cave troll, more bestial, if you know what I mean. I like the leg solution a lot, and the club is good too.
  15. Wow! The great figure over the entrance is fantastic! The hammer, the beard... beautiful design. I wanna see the folder! Uhm, link has an extra ) in it.
  16. OK, thank you.
  17. Any chance you can take a close-up picture of the other sets on the instructions (hopefully, in reasonable quality)?
  18. Nice use of those barrels! Could you include a close-up of the watchpost itself on top please? The stairs look indeed a little dangerous. I like the whole ragged feel of the structure. Good design overall. Quick question: one of the guys taking a break still has his quiver on. Isn't he supposed to put it down? I'm not sure, just asking, I have ran into a similar issue in a MMV feast.
  19. It's huge. I personally like that the raised base is built from BURP's. The structure above, however, is too open. If I owned it, I would build something slightly smaller but more closed. It is certainly great for parts though. Too much machinery, but you can just take those off. Number of scorpion figures is low, and I still don't care about the colorful knights. Color scheme is great, and they weren't skimpy about flags, banners and other accessories either. Overall, as a set it has certain weaknesses, but if you look at it as a source of inspiration, look at all the possibilities, it looks good.
  20. I'm guessing the price to be around the same as last time... us addicts will still buy these, so why would they reduce the price? Company wants to make profit in the first place. (Luckily, this usually correlates with satisfied customers. )
  21. I'd like to join please. I have a good collection, mostly Space, Town, Castle and Technic, older & newer sets too. I plan to review some Castle sets. I think I understand the basics of reviewing, but I'm sure I could learn a lot of the finer things in the Academy, and so I am applying.
  22. I love the capes and plumes! Also, two brimmed helmets at the green team is nice for a change. It seems like the dragon team doesn't get grilled helmet, ovoid shield and chest strap torso. (I don't recall seeing such items in boxed sets either.) Weapon assortment is pretty standard, that's good. Though what strikes me is that green knights had dark color weapons in other sets; what's up with that? Is that a plate on the red knight with the cape...? Overall, these are pretty good, they put in some nice extras. I like them.
  23. Wow, good technique! It's nice to see small, minifig-scale but still realistic things. I like the Falconet best. The mortar itself looks good, but I feel that the carriage is a little clunky. I also appreciate that you care about the figures themselves, too. I think it is an area where many people are not so ambitious. One small idea: I see gray headlights (NOT bluish gray, by the way, which is intriguing) where the falconet cart is connected to the horse. Have you tried black ones?
  24. One more question: you said $30 for the modification. Does that include the minifigures as well? If so, you've made a good deal.
  25. Building the Scorpion Prison Cave and the Skeleton Tower together is a great idea! They fit together very well, and the end result looks good. The crownie siege tower also matches the original. The setting for the tournament is nice, but I am still not very fond of wheeled horses. Good job on the details though (dark blue-dark red duality).
