Now I think borders is better. although they increase the price but you have 40%. such as new Slave 1, they marked it price as $95 (~20% increase?, MSPR $80 ,.btw walmart sells it at $75.XX). so 40% off, you will get $57 plus tax..I think it is not bad ?

There are several ways to get discount you might want to check here: http://www.mousesavers.com/legoland.html#gate (not sure if lego master is still available though) by the way, costco have San Diego Go Card for $140 (including Seaworld/Legoland/Zoo and a lot of others).

good to know. I was told we should not say 'Legos' though :D

aren't those creator car sets are 8/10 wide?

not sure if this is the right forum to post this. I know it is kinda 'forbidden' lego , but I think it is pretty neat. he built it after we visited a military museum. comments welcome

it is not an official set. but use several official sets to build. and lego.com has instruction to build it. was it Mon Calamari Star Cruiser ? or something like that? or may not be rebel's ship at all? thanks in advanced. -
Modular Building Exclusive Sets
happymark replied to LegoBuilder's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
239SGD I think it is MSRP (US $149 in S@H US). TRU had buy one get one 50% promotion and somebody got 2 Fire Bridge sets. that could be the best deal. I think Cafe corner is too over priced (unless you are a collector and you must have it). I would skip it. I believe TLG would have more or even better Modular sets (but CC is almost the 'classic' for sure) -
awesome review and awesome set!. is there anywhere we can get the instruction?
-
I just finished the book! I would say most people do both, they buy and build some sets, play/admire also learn some new some building tips. and more or less, somebody will do some MOCs.

borrowed this book from library (it is pretty new?) Find it is pretty interesting writing. at least for me. such as maybe because I am too new, it is my first time to know about 'Swanberg' case (stealing Millenium Falcons to sell on bricklink) it talks a lot about AFOL related topics, (if not all). I would recommend this. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Love-Story-Jonathan-Bender/dp/0470407026 reading the reviews is quite fun for me too. any comments?

welcome! ..some fans do not like to hear 'legos' though..

Hi, just curious if there is anyone else like me. I did not know lego when I was a kid. (in my home country, our culture does not have castle/pirates stuff..) but after I had kids and started to buy lego for them, I started to like it! I think most of AFOL played/loved Lego when they were kids (then some had 'DarkAge', anybody else did not play/like lego when they were young, but got addicted later as an adult? just curious to know..
-
I am a adult onset Lego fun. Actually I started buying lego after I had a kid. so..never too late to start :)

From my experience, they should be real lego, not clone brand. some (only small percent) are defective. they are not dirty at all. they are new. they are not from sets.. for me, they are from bulk parts, (they mixed them and add some extra maybe) I have to sort them later thoug. and I can see, they do not have many varities (I always got some repeat useless pieces. which I hate). but some tiles are good :) anyway, I do not think I will buy very often (since it is hard to know what you get). last order I got has few interesting pieces. well. at $5 for a pound maybe I should not expect much?

How to start building up a brick collection best?
happymark replied to funkybrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would suggest you buy some 'creator' sets. they have some very basic bricks/plates. and very good to start with. -
If you had to collect it all over again...
happymark replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
interesting topic.. kinda feel that most of people (including AFOL) actually did 'over-buy' lego? -
Digital Tablet reader to view instructions
happymark replied to happymark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thank you Siegfried for changing the title! Yes. I do agree tablet would be better. the reasons are : 1) tablet has lighter weight 2) tablet has no touch screen which is easy for zoom in/out/pan 3) keyboard is really optional for view the instruction. only concern I have is that the tablet is not big enough. my netbook is 7inch.. so it is just too small. of course the price is another factor. (I do agree ipad is a little overpriced so I am waiting to see if the Andriod table (from Motorola/HP would be cheaper) -
Digital Tablet reader to view instructions

Yes. I agree, but just want to save some paper (and money for color printing). I am also not very satisfied with the printing quality though. sometime the black is too dark.. -
When did LEGO start using SNOT techniques ?
happymark replied to drdavewatford's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i agree. Will they loss motivation after they compare their MOCs with offical sets? -
Actually from the time capsule thread: "Also, paper instructions will be discontinued; we will just download the building instructions to our E-readers (or whatever the mainstream device with a large screen will be called, but I'm envisioning something like an 24-inch iPad)." I have been thinking to buy a iPad (or Android tablet) to view instructions in PDF. have anybody tried this? I have netbook now. but screen is too small and not light enough. any comments? Mark

Thank! yes. I think wall mounted shelving is better.. they look good! thank you Carb, it is a good idea to keep small number set for display! hmm. sounds pretty good. is there a picture for it?
-
I know we have a pinned topic about storage/sorting lego.. but how about display (even just temporily?) let's say you have many built cars/trucks/bus (not mentioning Lego has more than enough police/fire vehicles). ( or maybe just a MOC. it is impossible to put them all into your 'city' layout. so just put them into shelves? feel I do not have enough shelves.. what shelves are you using? just normal 5-shelves bookcase? if you have some pictures that would be great..
