  1. I agree with you fred67. I like Stanely professional organizors. I am wondering if there is any 'rack' thing go with them? that will save a lot of space - spreading them on the floor isn't fun..
  2. Just borrowed this book from library. basically it is an UNOFFICAL history of TLG. quite fun to read! in first chapter it talks about LEGO duck and about modification from kiddicraft. I like this quote: "The LEGO world is made up of millions of fan, most young, many not. who sees LEGO brick as more than a toy; as artistic medium, a way to learn , a windown to an entire subculture of like-minded individuals who attends LEGO conventions..."
  3. yeah. I do understand as a parent. it is strange that LEGOLAND or Disney World are open for Adults only..just because Legoland Discovery Center is indoor and more Children-oriented maybe..
  4. In US. I just heard this rule yesterday. I was kinda shocked when I was told that Adults were not allowed to enter Legoland Discovery Center without a child. I did check the website and found it is true; To be honest, I felt offended at the first.. what do you think? is this the only place that some facility that not open for Adults?? Can adults visit LEGOLAND Discovery Center without any children? Sorry, no. Adults must be accompanied by children to enter LEGOLAND® Discovery Center. We will host adult nights for our Adult Fans of LEGO without children. Also, children are unable to visit the attraction unless accompanied by an adult.
  5. Thank you very much for the reply Aanchir. yeah. these were from China second-hand market. so it is possible these pieces were produced in China factory and discarded because of the quality then leaked into market? it let me recall an old US ebay seller (ebuyazonline) used to sell NEW lego pieces by pounds (only $5 per pounds shipped). were they from factory too?
  6. I got some Friends figures from an oversea friend. (it does include some non-Friends (aka normal) minifig) i notice that some pieces were not printed properly? just a quality problem?
  7. not sure which state you will visit. because different state (even town) has different tax rate. which means could be almost 10% different (some place has 10% tax and some place has 0) also you might want to get a 10% in store coupon if you visit LEGO store (only for 1 item but still good. it is only in printed LEGO catalog though) another thing is to buy from Amazon.com - which could be a little or even more off the MSRP - and no tax for many states TRU will have buy 2 and get 1 free (or buy 1 get 1 50% off) next month I think? it would save some if you have a right combo (they normally exclude many sets though). Good luck.
  8. This does not seem to be rare to me. according to BL: (3 sets had this piece - and they were not rare sets I would say. although it is pretty hard to find 'COMPLETE' for them.) but of course, it depends how you define 'rare' :) Set No: 10039 Name: Black Falcon's Fortress 2 in 10039 Set No: 6074 Name: Black Falcon's Fortress 2 in 6074 Set No: 6276 Name: Eldorado Fortress 2 in 6276 Set No: 1584 Name: Knights Challenge 2 in 1584 Set No: 6060 Name: Knight's Challenge 2 in 6060
  9. Hi All, I am thinking to take advantage of current US shop.lego.com promotion. *$75 with free shipping To help a FLL team , I am thinking to buy a light sensor. besides that, what do you recommend? I only have a NXT retail set - means 3 motors with 1 ultrasonic 2 touch and 1 color sensor. do you think I should buy a rechargeable battery with DC charger? I do have some rechargeable AA batteries though. Thanks! Mark
  10. I guess some of best-selling sets would be re-released? I am talking same set but new production (sometime with new box?)
  11. it is a small room. using combined pictures :). so about 180 degrees.
  12. my current LEGO room 'layout'
  13. I use bricklink price guide. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=8649-1 your condition is somewhere between new and used. so I think it is worth about $50-$100.
  14. I have drawers for tail wings engines (or engines like) propellers and of course. a lot of windshields. castle wall pieces and big rock pieces go to their own drawers too and trees and bushes , separated from flowers and grass I put treasure chests and barrels are in same though. it ends up 40+ sterilite 3 drawers organizers for me.
  15. I agree the best method is whatever works for you. for colors. normally I divide them into several categories (apply for most bricks/plates) 1) black & white 2) other prime colors (RED, YELLOW, BLUE) 3) Gray 4) other colors (GREEN, BROWN, ORANGE, LIGHT BLUE, TAN. etc) sometime, I divide Old (dark) gray from new bley & dark bley, sometime I don't sometime I split BLACK & WHITE also if they are overflowed. same for R/Y/B I also put some 'rare' colors into one. such as Dark Red, Dark Brown ,Sand Green etc. most of pieces, I sort by type. only exception is Green/Brown/Tan/light blue. i put all bricks (1X2, 2X2, 1X3, 2X3, 2X4, 2X6) into same bin. that's best for me to fewer bins
  16. i got the book. love it so far. feel more complete (of course) that the first version... (but I am afraid it will be out of dated soon .. :( )
  17. googled this: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lego-group-celebrates-75-year-anniversary-58018297.html ENFIELD, Conn., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The LEGO Group today celebrates the 75-year anniversary of its founding in Billund, Denmark August 10, 1932, by a Danish carpenter named Ole Kirk Christiansen. The company, which first produced wooden toys, is now the world's leading construction toy manufacturer, producing high quality play materials that inspire children to build what they can possibly -- and impossibly -- imagine.
  18. I think Amazon messes up. 2009 copy has 2 books (The LEGO book and a minifigure book). $15 for like new for both are not bad!
  19. Fugazi, thank you! that means about 1/4 more pages (256 vs 200). not bad for $15.. quite attempting.
  20. is there anybody got this Reprint of <The LEGO book> by Daniel Lipkowitz? http://www.amazon.com/The-LEGO-Book-Daniel-Lipkowitz/dp/0756666937/ it is listed as same book as first version. not sure how much different it would have..
  21. sorry for the stupid request. I have bad memory I remember there was a post about a design for rolling ball. basically it has several modular and can be connected together to make a interesting track to let ball roll and sometime do some loop the loop thing. anybody can point me the link? Thanks in advanced!, Mark
