  1. This is not information, just pure speculation by the writer. Modern journalism eh?! I wouldn't base any opinions on it.
  2. It doesn't like like it's swiveling to me, just that the rear is built slightly higher that the front.
  3. But unless we say what we think how will the designers know what to ignore?!
  4. Or maybe it's a function switching gearbox, like 8043 but switched manually between drive/steer and crane/stabilizer functions.
  5. We've always been hard to please ever since being spoilt by 8868, 8880 and so on It may be the first 6x6, but then a 6x6 isn't that hard to make. Lego has also never released a technic tea pot. Just because it hasn't been done before doesn't necessarily mean it will be great if they did. It may be a successor to 9398, but it would seem 9398 isn't so universally well liked, so that may not be a good thing. The azure colour is...well...kinda nice I guess. I never really liked it, I guess it's personal taste but the baby blue sure doesn't suit a military inspired vehicle. It's been a while since we had a primarily black vehicle. The last black flagship was many years ago. "did you happen to see that mysterious 11+ number thingy on the box?" No need to be snarky. Yes, of course we noticed that. But the colour scheme is that of a babies toy and...well....we have yet to know what the internal mechanics are. Maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised. As fans of Technic, we all want to see it do well. We just happen to disagree on what kind of model in what kind of price and age range best achieves that goal. I personally think a set targeted at builders aged between 11 and 16 years would would sell better if it wasn't coloured like a babies toy and had some mechanical realism and cool looks. If you like it, that's great. I'm not going to talk down to you just because we have a different opinion. I am glad you like it and hope you get lots of pleasure from it The licence plate is the anniversary brick.
  6. That picture is remarkably similar in base vehicle type to 42070.
  7. 8433 and poly bags are not (and not priced as) flagships. For a flagship set 9398 had very little to offer IMHO. All of it's complexity was contained in it's axles, it's fat, chubby unrealistic axles with gears all over the place. That would be fine if it was a first half set, not meant to be anything other than something with good playability for younger Technic builders to play with. But IMO a flagship should be far more than that. The flagship being the biggest and most expensive set of the year and being aimed at older Technic builders should offer new levels of mechanical authenticity and the new parts required to do so. The more I look at 42070 (and I could be wrong) the more I think it is a very large and expensive arrangement of Technic pieces without much in the way of mechanical interest and authenticity to justify it's size and price. A set with so little mechanical intrigue would surely be better made with "regular" Lego, like this size with the same tires but in a model team style. But like I say, I could be wrong. We don't yet know what mechanical marvels (or lack thereof) lies under it's massive body. They might even decide to change the colour!
  8. I don't see it. My point was that it COULD have that cool stuff, or it could be just the same old wimpy 28t diff and unimog portal axles, like the unrealistic 9398 axles. The more I look at it the more I think that's what it'll be, which is a shame.
  9. Not sure if I like it yet. I like the 6 claas tires on yellow rims. It appears to have good suspension. I also like the military-esque shape of the truck. But the colour (medium blue?) really doesn't suit that shape. Black, dark blue or white with a regular blue crane and stabilizers would have been much better. The crane itself uses an LA ( BOOOOO! ) to raise and lower, and I think it can rotate, but that's about it. Doesn't appear to be telescopic from what I can see. Also looks kinda wimpy, but then it will probably go through a redesign yet. Maybe there are some hidden secrets, like a fantastically authentic drive train with a lot of new parts like stronger diff based on the 36t double bevel gear and planetary gear reduction wheels and so on which will enable this behemoth to crawl over obstacles all day long. Or then again maybe not. It'll probably just have the same old wimpy 28t diff and unimog portal axles shifting the steering pivot way outside the wheels. Time will tell.
  10. I don't think the rear section is a bed like the arocs or unimog has. Kinda looks more like paneling to partially enclose the rear as is typical for a tow truck. The outriggers appear to be quite clever, using the telescoping parts introduced with the arocs for the vertical sections and using a lever/beam connected to the sliding part through the slot, so as the lever moves/rotates down the stabilizers will move down and outwards at the same time.
  11. ...and a teddy bear!
  12. For a while it's been nice complex set followed by not so great (IMHO) RC set with zero mechanical authenticity! But last two years we were lucky enough to get two nicely complex sets in a row (ok, so the BWE wasn't exactly mechanically authentic but at least it had some complexity and good new parts). So will the 2017 flagship be an RC abomination of mechanical dullness (cough crawler cough front loader cough), or has the RC set for the year taken it's rightful place in the first half in the form of the tracked racer? Or, will they finally for the first time ever combine RC functionality with mechanical authenticity?
  13. Future "ultimate" sets will likely not be the same brand. The next one may be a mclaren or even a land rover for all we know. Even so I wouldn't expect them every year yet. Are we even sure the next one will be a car?
  14. Certainly looks like a tiny pin hole leak/crack/manufacturing defect in the bottom black casing. I am fairly confident Lego will replace it for you. If not then a tiny dab of superglue should fix it. Just be careful as capillary action will pull the glue down into the tiny imperfection (which is a good thing) but too much will cause superglue to be inside the pump, which obviously isn't good.
  15. Although not technically licensed, would the 8480 space shuttle count?
  16. He knows I Sorry for some reason I cant edit the above post. It wont let me delete. But yeah he knows its not a licenced set. He was making a point in reply to my comments.
  17. No. Would a real life vehicle like this have an engine, transmission of any kind, suspension, steering wheel/levers, a drivers seat? Yes it would. Lacking such attributes or any real life vehicle to compare it's appearance, 42065 cannot be said to have any authenticity. But I am not knocking this set for it's lack of authenticity as it was clearly not designed to be authentic. A tracked vehicle like that, at that scale would probably NOT be a very good set if it WAS authentic because at this small scale you would just have the tracks driving a differential driving an engine, which would be boring. Although a suspension setup might make it a little more interesting. But anyway, authenticity was, probably quite rightly so in this rare case, not it's goal. It appears to have been designed to be a Technic RC PF set that is as accessible to the much younger, less advanced Technic builder as possible (by being simple and low cost) and it achieves that goal.
  18. Considering most vehicles with sprung suspension will compress their springs slightly under their own weight, soft suspension is accurate. Considering it has the flat twin engine, shaft drive, soft suspension and suspension setup of the real bike I think it deserves one or two more stars for authenticity. At least more than 42065, which was never meant to be authentic and as such has no engine, no transmission or gears of any kind (unless you count the ones inside the motors), no suspension, no steering wheel, no seat, no room for a scale driver, no wing mirrors, no disk brakes, no front axle, no rear axle, no drive shafts, no cup holders and doesn't look remotely like anything past or present other than a movie prop.
  19. Another conspiracy theory here Maybe TLG want to sell off their excess PF components in a bargain, small but relatively PF heavy set so they can release PF 2.0! But seriously, the fact is that 42065 wasn't designed for AFOLs as far as I can tell. It's a simple easy build for younger kids. This is the first set aimed at younger kids to have remote controlled PF and it is good value. It has a clear design goal to be a quick, simple, easy build for younger kids while also offering lots of PF parts and it forfills that goal. I hope TLG can make a profit on it. It's only a 1st half set, picking on it for being simple and unrealistic would be like picking on a puppy for crapping on the carpet (being a puppy!).
  20. You are not alone, trust me, I know. One of the many things that makes depression suck big time is that it's an illness that prevents you from enjoying the things you previously enjoyed. it's not that you miss building, it's that you miss being able to enjoy it. Asking how to "get back into it" is basically the same as asking how do I cure depression. The answer to that question would get a nobel prize. Depression is an illness (that is not cured by "cheering up") and not being able to enjoy the things you know you otherwise would is one of it's many many symptoms. You have to fight it, maintain your life and not let the cold get a foothold. Keep active, keep sociable and going out with you friends even when you just want to go to bed, in fact, ESPECIALLY when you just want to go to bed. Keep talking to friends even if it's over the phone. Fill your life with people, don't shut them out. Could be old school friends, whatever. Keep building even if it's only from instructions. Depression ranges from being barely noticeable, to being deadly. It's never a joke. I hope and pray you find it easy, I know how hard it can be, but keep living your life as if you don't have it. I think it's like "curing" a cold. It's not a case of curing it, but a case of looking after and treating the patient (getting out of the cold and into the warm with lots of fluids and good food and so on) until the patient cures itself, in this case with high doses of life and people to be social with.
  21. Love these reviews. Whilst opinions of what the final score of a set should be will always differ the review is detailed enought to make up my own mind. The only problem is that your reviews are good enough to scare Jang Bricks away from doing Technic reviews Welcome to the internet. Don't let them spoil your fun.
  22. In this context the word module is being used to describe the different functional aspects of one model. From the looks of it the entire GBC10 model can be built from one 42042 set. Instructions for building the GBC10 model from one 42042 set can be found here: http://pv-productions.com/product/lego-gbc-10-5-modules-3d-building-instructions/ If you scroll down the page you will also see instructions for the GBC11 model which can be entirely built from the parts which come with one set 42054. By b, c, and d, they are talking about b, c and d models. Basically, the model on the front of the box is the main model, or A model. B, C and D models are other models that can be built from the same pieces. In the case of 42042, it has an A model (the crane on the front of the box) and Lego provide instructions for a B model (a different crane pictured on the back of the box). So in this case, any other models designed by the fan community using the same parts (as is the case with the GBC model) would be classed as a C, D, E or whatever model depending how many models have already been created. The 42042 and 42054 sets already comes with a motor, so you do not need to buy an additional motor(s) to build the GBC10 or GBC11 models. I really hope this helps. The Lego fan community is HUUUUUGE and we can appear to have our own language at times (and even emoji's! ) so I can appreciate it can be a tad overwhelming. But we also love to help so if you have any further questions please do ask
