Technic "Themes"
Tobbe Arnesson replied to OrangeKNight's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ha! JA37 was not what I expected to see in that photo! I've seen it do a very low speed turn at close range, that's still the most amazing plane experience I've had. Something that big and heavy hanging in the air and the sound... ...that something can sound so HOT as that engine crackling! But aerobatic? Anyway, TLG would not do a fighter jet since even the JA37 is a pretty modern weapon. I've been considering building the SAAB line of jet fighters for years now but never got around too. I do agree more variation in the models would be swell. That's probably a huge reason I regard the 8480 Space Shuttle so high. Personally I would love some nice forestry machinery, TLG have hinted at that for a while now with the 8049 Tractor with Log Loader and the B model for both 8265 Front Loader and 8069 Backhoe Loader. I suppose it fails since there aren't any forests in Denmark. This would also be neat: http://www.stvab.se/index.php?id=470 Models need to strike a "cool" and instant recognition in the kids so it can't bee to obscure things. Talking about mining machinery, take a look at these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/legomachines/ -
W O W ! The only thing that ain't perfect is the fact that "The Boppers" apparently have spread outside of Sweden. Seriously thou, that car is stunning! Full of so many great details! First MOC I've felt compelled to replicate in a long time! How did you connect the chain links (what a neat idea) and how is the tank built?

Models for 2H of 2011
Tobbe Arnesson replied to menad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In Sweden both the 8043 Motorized Excavator and 8258 Crane Truck has a MSRP of SEK 1.899,-, that's Ā£184/ā¬215/US$298 with todays values. LEGO-prices in the US has always been low compared to Europe, the competition against other brands are more fierce there. -
Lego Hydraulics
Tobbe Arnesson replied to grindinggears's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, allanp has mentioned this already: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51439&view=findpost&p=913081 -
I consider both the Pneumatic T's and the chains as Technic parts. Some would probably consider the ribbed silver hoses as Technic as well.

Lego Hydraulics

It's still the same LEGO valve, the only difference is that they've attached a non-LEGO servo to it. -
Lego Hydraulics

In solution number 2, LA's can be used to move the cylinders. Solution 3: Custom made valves (with return line to the reservoir) and a real hydraulic pump. Next step hydraulic motors and different size rams. Who's good with the lathe and milling machine? Here are a few sources for RC hydraulics: http://www.bernett-modellbau.de/sites/en/presites/produktsites/hydraulik-en.html http://www.damitz-modelltechnik.de/index3.htm http://www.leimbach-modellbau.de/ http://www.stahl-modellbau.com/0000009d0014c2e54/0000009e2b13d5c22/index.php And here's a demo of what can be achieved: -
Wow! This is simply amazing! Love it! Well done! Very well done! Apart from the two black hoses and the chain, the biggest part seem to be the 1 x 4 tiles in the guns. The guns for "joysticks" is a nice touch of double meaning!

Woodworking is pretty different from LEGO-working. When working with wood the process to create is to remove material, hence one needs protection.

Grohl's Creations

The best part is that you made an ordinary car! The second best is all those regular features. :)- 784 replies

He wrote this: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=1114 "Alien Conquest looked aboslutely superb. It features aliens and humans and abduction/autopsy seems to be the main theme. The aliens, of which I counted something like 4 variants, have lime green heads and look great. The humans have legs/torsoes made with a new shade of blue. One set featured an archetypal circular UFO with light underneath and a very clever mechanism to abduct any humans it swoops down on. I could tell Mark Stafford had designed some of these: his trademark style was evident all over :-)"

Thanks allanp! -
Oh dude, what a sucking-suck! Here's hoping you don't have to sell at all or at least get a lot of money for it!

I especially like the green ones, well done!

Great use of the pieces, I did not realize what it was at first! Really nice ship! Also loved the other things you had up at Flickr!
