  1. I'm planning a MOC that will need 19 different kinds of Light Bluish Gray plates in a total of close to 3600 plates. I made the MOC in LDD, the built in price calculator quotes me €753. All the plates from PaB would be €476 and if I went with the cheapest European stores at BrickLink the price is down to €208 (shipping not included in any price). Of course that would mean a lot of different orders from BrickLink since not all stores have all kinds of bricks, and some bricks don't even exist in the right quantities in one single shop (in Europe). But we have to remember that Light Bluish Gray plates are very common, i.e. lower price on BL.
  2. There are instructions for this in BrickJournal 10, issue 2-2010 on page 48. The design is credited to John Cooper but it's made a little different (not using the 2 x 2 tiles with one stud). I'm pretty sure I've seen others as well. First time I see a video though, seems it works really well!
  3. LOL:ed at the multicolored version! Great MOC! If I had the time I would build one for the 8480 Space Shuttle, that would be really impressive!
  4. Nothing to be sorry about, this is a great thread! Great set too!
  5. Both massive and detailed, very well done! Hope to see some video footage of this massive MOC when it's finished!
  6. Whoa! Nice! Hope you get around to finishing a Mk II!
  7. Well, what's "a long time"? 2005: 8421 Mobile Crane 2006: 8285 Tow Truck But I agree, the Unimog is a fresh breeze in several regards: It's a new type of model (sort of) and it's the first flagship with pneumatics since 2006.
  8. Great! Both music and video! Especially loved the use of the M-tron M as a burger chain! 1 x 2 jumper plates as drawer fronts (bedside table) is pretty neat (perhaps common use - I don't see that many city MOCs).
  9. Way cool! Here in Sweden we had a Robotwars-inspired competition back in 2005, unfortunately no video footage. Scroll down to about 3/5 of this page for some photos: http://lotekbricks.blogspot.com/2005/03/swebrick-vii.html I don't recall any brick getting broken but a few got markings on them. We've been talking about trying this event again so this thread comes in handy, thanks!
  10. Not at anyone in particular, have seen a lot of the same recently.
  11. Way cool! Impressive 'bot! This MOC would fit well in both Technic and SciFi! How do you intend to do the battling? A few targets and each bot take turns to knock them out? Can't be bot against bot since you've used more than two IR-channels. We did some robotwars inspired battle back in 2005, unfortunately the video footage is lost (I'm pretty sure we shot some but I can't find it ): http://lotekbricks.blogspot.com/2005/03/swebrick-vii.html - Scroll down to like 3/5 of the page.
  12. Great MOCs, love em' both! Nice greebling on the first one and the second is pretty spot on (mind it's been quite a while since I saw it).
  13. Use this app: http://www.tellblom.se/lego/getstores/ It's great for hunting down as few stores as possible with a low price.
  14. Hi! I've stumbled upon several people talking about the Unimog being the return of pneumatics and others wanting a return of pneumatics. What rock have these people been hiding under? Looking at the 47224c01 Pneumatic Cylinder with 2 Inlets and Rounded End Medium (48mm) and what sets it comes with: 2002: Dacta Service pack 970118 Pneumatic Cylinder 2003: 8455 Back-hoe Loader 2004: 8439 Front End Loader 2005: 8421 Mobile Crane 2006: 8285 Tow Truck 2007: none 2008: Dacta set 9641 Mechanisms Pneumatics Add-On Set 2009: none 2010: 8049 Tractor with Log Loader (also has "x191c01 Yellow Pneumatic Pump Small") 2011: 8110 Unimog (could be a different cylinder but it do have pneumatics) Between 1985 and 2003 we had the "2793c01 Pneumatic Cylinder with 2 Inlets Medium (48mm) with Black Top" (kinda strange to have two different cylinders in production at the same time, but it was strange times back then). In that time the only years which did not see something containing Pneumatics was: 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1991. Are people thinking that linear actuators = no more pneumatics? Just an observation...
  15. Cool wheels, perhaps a tad futuristic rims for a Willys though. On a almost related note I just saw the movie Tremors again and fell in love with the Jeep Gladiator 1963 they use. Internet Movie Cars Database is a great source to see what vehicle you just spotted in a movie: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_2946-Jeep-Gladiator-1963.html Check the photo in the first post and then post #9 for a description: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=49536
  16. My ambitions failed hard with this thread, looking up the link for new parts in 2010 made med look at 2009 which made me buy lot's and lot's again. Gnnn! When on the hunt for a few specific parts for the lowest price in as few stores as possible this is a great program: http://www.tellblom.se/lego/getstores/
  17. My bad, I read Unimog and then the "first to have".
  18. I started out in October 2010. I needed a specific part for a MOC, found the two only stores that had the part. While buying I clicked around and put a few sets and some parts of colors I like to stock up on. This opened up a whole new world and in eight days I had made eleven purchases. Some more parts for the MOC, some parts for an idea for another line of MOCs and parts for other peoples ideas I wanted to try my hands on. Each time I looked after sets and colors. It all got a bit crazy actually. Another ten orders in the same way in November but in December I slowed down and started looking for unique parts instead of color. Now I try to promise myself to only make orders when I'm building something and actually need the parts to continue the MOC (but I'll keep looking for unique parts when ordering - having most types of parts at home will aid in prototyping which can then be ordered in correct colors for MOC completion)... Edit: Looking through the list of parts released in 2010 resulted in a few "could be neat to have some day"-orders.
  19. Could only find one magazine from '96 and it only has one page "about" Technic: Edit: There's also only one issue from '94 and '95 and neither seem to have any Technic in them.
  20. You want to check out 8480 Space Shuttle from 1996. One motor with a gear box that let's you choose between: * Red blinking lights in the shuttle's engines (pretty lame). * Opening the cargo doors. * Raising the crane. * Rotating the crane. A polarity switch let's you reverse the old style 9V motor. Another polarity switch controls the little red 9V motor in the satellite to fold open it's solar panels. There's no way TLG would reissue these old set's that don't use PF, and in my book that's a good thing. Especially the old style 9V motor is pretty weak. The little red one has major issues with binding and is impossible slow, but it's still a neat little motor. A set that I would love a reissue of is 5571 Giant Truck.
  21. It's high time to throw out Christmas!
  22. Thanks. Crawling out from the rock where I was hiding was somewhat of a shock with relearning the community and all, your page was a firm familiar turf to start from.
  23. Thanks Philo! I often find myself on that page of yours! Great stuff! I'm been there expecting to find the same thing, failing that I started this thread that quickly generated some great answers: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=49092
  24. I don't like guessing so I hunted down a few current sets with the same prices in New Zeeland, then I got the price for those sets in different countries from s@h: 2516 NZ$ 9.99 US$ 4.99 £ 3.99 € N/A SEK 59.00 7741 NZ$ 19.99 US$ 9.99 £ 9.99 € 14.99 SEK 149.00 2260 NZ$ 39.99 US$ 19.99 £ 19.99 € N/A SEK 249.00 2263 NZ$ 59.99 US$ 29.99 £ 26.99 € N/A SEK 349.00 8899 NZ$ 69.99 US$ 39.99 £ 35.99 € 39.99 SEK 499.00 8863 NZ$ 119.99 US$ 59.99 £ 49.99 € 59.99 SEK 699.00 7327 NZ$ 179.99 US$ 99.99 £ 71.99 € N/A SEK 1199.00 Unfortunately the Germans don't seem to have all the Ninjago-sets I used for comparison yet so the € is lacking quite a few prices, could not be bothered to track down other sets.
