Lego Technic Strength
Dr Rod replied to tl8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting tests but you need to refine your test technique and use more samples to get some statistically valid results. I think you need to test the beams with lego connectors through the pinholes or even steel bars of the correct diameter, crushing the beams in the tensile rig jaws makes the whole test invalid. What fulcrum contact shape did you use for the three point bending test? DrRod -

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Dr Rod replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Barnes and Noble (best to fully name them) have cancelled my POTC pre-order too. Very annoying, spread the word. Dr Rod Lego were starting to use smaller packaging to be more "environmental", this may be why the boxes seem "down in size". Go by weight, but you'll look dodgy carrying scales around :) Dr Rod -
Saw this at a Lego Australia sneak peak viewing a few weeks ago, you didn't mention the new buckets!! They are very nice. I think there is a different coloured one in one of the POTC sets too. Dr Rod

I had heard it was a Myer exclusive, third quarter. DrRod We've had free shipping before last year. Only time it is worth buying from SOH. Having free shipping again is great news, there is a Maersk train on it's way for me :). Dr Rod -
Brickvention (Jan) in Melbourne has been going for a few years and Canberra now has BrickExpo (Aug) since 2010, so we figured Sydney should have a show too!! We are going with "The Sydney Brick Show"; website to come soon. Dr Rod

Thanks Siegfried and also for moving to a logical forum :) Dr Rod

Hi Lego Fans, Just a quick notice that Sydney (Australia) is likely to get a show next year (2012), aiming for a weekend around Easter. Saturday setup and AFOL events, Sunday public day. We are currently in the process of investigating possible venues and still in the early stages of planning but it's looking good!! Watch this post!!! Oleg, Dr Rod AKA Intrastella OK so I thought it was 2009 or something... could a mod please change the post title to Sydney Show 2012...
