  1. In my case, I put many trains as possible in my layout. But I love 12v trains and they have to dominate the layout . This is my layout now: I have made some room for baseplates and buildings. It was hard to place the monorail between it, but I'm very happy with the layout right now. Not too much trains and not too less. If you think trains are just something to add to your layout, then put it around your town.
  2. That's an interesting question. It depends what you what to have for layout. For me example, I collect 12v trains and using big buildings like this...... then the trains are not the eyecathers anymore. If you like big buildings, build them to the roof of your own house. This way you can show people what you can and what your like. If you like trains like me and you haven't much space, or downsize it or put it showwhere on the side of your layout. I have put the greengrocer on the side of my layout, so it won't be an eyecatcher.
  3. You know, I love this. I never start to collect it, but it's always nice see it. My dad had some of this stuff and my mum had it throw it away when I grew up...............ouch...........it hurts when you how much it's worth now.
  4. Looks great. In my opnion in minifig scale, truck should be 4 or 5 nops wide. But again, it looks amazing what you've build.
  5. I stay with my design, those are strong enough to resist the stress and holding all wires together. The color will be grey (bluish, light and/or dark I don't care) and in top a little bit green. Parts will be orded soon. When all poles are build, then the next project I start is de bridge. I'm gonna use a spidermanset to get the job done. I'm not sure which color I'm gonna use. Tan is expensive, but red will be also a nice color for the job. When the the bridge is in use.....well enough projects for me: * Big Boy on 12v * trees * A big building Well back to bricklink to see which seller is gonna happy this week .
  6. I'm very sure it's that part .
  7. I bought this set too, some time ago. I like the set also. Finally some egyptian theme . Only too bad I've now 3 indy's now. Nothing comparing with my Harry Potter army.........
  8. I wish Lego made these road signs again ......
  9. Exactly. The design of patje is very nice, but not usable for my goals. Those wires are heavy and the poles have to resist stress of pulling and hanging wires. Never mind, all ideas are always welcome
  10. My layout lays on the ground and 12v trains means also a lot of wires. To lay down all wires on the ground is not a nice sight. That's why I've tried to use like elec high voltage poles to look like it organized. This was my first design, below the pic: I've designed this one now: This pole stands very secure on the baseplates and pole is high enough for the monorail. I can adjust the high is neccesary. Only I'm not sure about the colours. So any ideas for the colours or the design are welcome. Many thx. Oopsie, wrong topic. Can someone place this topic to 'town and trains'?
  11. Looks great. I've made also one a few years ago: For the non believers:
  12. Looks good. I'm also busy to collect all HP-sets now, which you can see here: It's a shame that lego has not all minifigs according the books. I like your solution how you've added the 'missing' minifigs.
  13. Time for a little update. Slowly it's getting there. My cat like to sleep here, well at least there will be no mice at my attic . Here you can see my modified station 7822: And the controlpanel for this layout. A huge job to connect everything.
  14. I'm collecting the HP sets for a little while now. I've a little corner in my layout where Hogwarts is build. This weekend I bought 4 more sets and I've tried to make a logic setup for all the sets I've. In future I hope to have all HP-sets lego has produced. This is the reason why I started to collect HP-sets. I've build this train according set 7750. Set 4708 is a little tiny trainbaby. Here you can see the owned HP-sets sofar: Somewhere in my layout, diagon alley shops: And all the double minifigs of Harry Potter:
  15. Looks good. Lego is back again with GREAT sets. YIPPIE.....
  16. Is it MISB? Or build only once? What are the shippingcosts? My friend like the red version. I prefer the yellow one.
  17. Who has seen the Egypt Playmobil series already. Wow, that looks good. You can find the sets here: I'm doubting, do I want these sets?
  18. Looks good .
  19. I would like to see pic's of your bridge. Here is the tdl-file: Link to my brickshelf You can send modified design to my email. Thx for helping me.
  20. Freddie: I know those powerlines are not very beautifil sight. It was a rough design which was more functional then goodlooking. When the new layout is finished and I've cleaned it up, then I concentrate to make goodlooking powerlines-poles. Any susgestions are always welcome. They have to be strong, those lines can pull those poles to the ground. Lockt: It's difficult to see what real results are, but you have to be a plan to make something like this. Here you can see the start of the new layout for real. Keep an eye here, I place pic's so now and then Now I start cleaning up all the parts and separate/disconnecting the wires. I know it looks like a battlefield. skinkfem: If you're in the potter sets, keep an close eye on the pic's and try to guess which sets I have. I got some parts this week, when all mine hp-sets (I have) are finished I place a pic of it and you can starting to gues .
  21. I miss connecting rods by this steamengine. Take one guess what a 12v freak would do with this train : Exactly, I modify it for 12v. Only I had to make the steamengine 2 studs longer. Can also be 4, I don't remember it anymore. Nice review.
  22. No comments at all ........
  23. I wanted a bridge in my layout. That means I've to design almost a new layout. Well here it is: Blue 12v tracks indicates that the train leaves the ground. Green baseplates represent buildings. On the top (3 green baseplates) will be 10190, 10182 & 10185. I'm not very sure about the monorail, but i think the place where it's now would be a great place for it. The trainshed (10027) will be at the left of the layout, you can see at the blue 4,5v track. In the top left, there will be a station so harry potter can go to hogwarts by train. If there any ideas, please tell me.
  24. Very useful information. I'm designing right now where I use 18 straight tracks to get the train in the air. In book 7777 they use 14 straight tracks. I think it should do the trick, I hope ...........
  25. Cool set and nice review. I like the box :D .
