  1. The Sgt Peppers band figures either from the film or from the Sgt Peppers album would be fantastic. I think the album design with the bright coloured uniforms are easily iconic enough to warrant some kind of add on to this set in some at while still being a standalone release. Now they've negotiated the image rights with EMI and Apple Corps who knows where it might lead.
  2. Thankfully I only needed a second Piett torso for Ozzel and I got that quite reaonably. The captain torsos from the ISD and the caps I got for £1.75 each so less than £9 for the three torsos and two caps. It would be great to get a couple of other imperial officer insignia too
  3. Very possibly, mate. Would be a good way of picking that up.
  4. That's a shame. It's a really nice figure (if you like Marvel)... Unfortunately then maybe picking up this version and adding genuine head and helmet will bring you a pretty good version of it. As long as it's not been kicked around the streets of Guangdong like the one above has.
  5. There's the rub. If it really was an early sketch for them then some of them might be right... if it was just fan art based on rumours then most of it might be wrong. I think as it stands it's considered fake as far as the mods are concerned...
  6. I've heard people mention this before but I don't think it would have too much of an effect on sales. I've heard of people going into a store in Australia and a scalper has come along and bought the entire trolley before it's gone on the shelf. All to sell afterwards. If the scalper didn't buy to invest the sales would still go to normal people who buy to build rather than speculate. I'm not sure just how much people buy to speculate but I imagine a lot of the sales slack would be taken up by normal buyers if their purchases dropped off. That seems like a very dirty example and I'm not sure they'll all look like that. They've actually gone for chrome claws as well which is a nice surprise and even if the rest of the figure was bad it's probably worth the 80p just for those. Alternatively buy the original Chrome Claws figure from KO Customs.
  7. I think I've got them as Veers, Yularen, Needa, Ozzel, Piett, Motti, Tarkin, (bloke near Turbo lift on Death Star), Childsen, Endicott, Thrawn, Pellaeon, Isard. Only one that's not named currently is the light grey uniform. The legs are from the Gothic Boy in Series 16 CMF and they've had a bit of Brasso work to take the print off. I've ordered three more torsos and two more caps so I can get Jerjerrod added along with Tagge and then a third... possibly one from the second Death Star.
  8. If you haven't had a response to this yet then maybe set up a thread over in the B/S/T/F part of the site: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forum/16-buy-sell-trade-and-finds/
  9. Actually, yeah... It is slightly different isn't it. At least it gives a Clea figure to people who wanted her. If they get it right it should be good. I'd still take the SY version of the Dr Strange game design over a Xinh one though.
  10. From what I can se eon those the Clea is the only figure of real interest. It's a clone of Muddy River's figure. the MRM version was really nicely done and had a double sided head so let's see if this has similar. There are a couple of terrible figures in this wave also.
  11. The short answer is no. Nothing new since you were last here. ;)
  12. Is that Wolverine the Chrome Claw figure without the helmet and shoulder armour? And do we know is Kopf are DLP?
  13. I agree. Looks like XIV is the closest although I think a lot of these are becoming 'Mk Make it up as you go along'.
  14. I just visited Halfords (Motoring and cycle shop in the UK just in case you're not familiar) and just browsed their vinyl dyes which were near their spray paint and touch up section. I think I just bought their own brand version. There a customiser called Kristi that has dyed several pieces and I know she dyed the tan hairpiece for Phoenix Custom's Bespin Luke to dark tan. Her flickr is here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/custombricks. Her website is: http://custombricks.net/index.html It might be worth sending her a message to ask her about dying items?
  15. I think it would be safer not to, personally. I think someone mentioned previously that if a figure was to appear in a set that had other figures that were clones of Lego products then it's probably best not to link to that. I agree. I think this thread, even in discussing non-cloned product, will still get more than it's fair share of people commenting negatively. It's now started that all customs are evil due to IP infringement. Not that the subject has ever been raised in the Customisation Forum... just here. I've decided to completely blank such comments as I'm viewing them as nothing more than trolling the thread.
  16. I've used a vinyl spray dye to colour pieces which has alway worked really well. I've sprayed pieces red and black as well as spraying both a full piece as well as masking an area to just stray part of it. I'm not sure how that works with different dyes but I think a good dye will eat into the plastic slightly so the colour bonds rather than sits on top in the same way paint would.
  17. From what I can gather it's not a violation of the new guideline. I wrote a wordy reply giving direct examples of the acceptance of IP infringement but I thought better of it. If the license holder doesn't feel the need to intervene then I'm not sure why anybody would feel the need to police things for them. I'm sure if anybody got particularly specific with regards to printing military stuff, as you have mentioned, then that would also contravene some IP laws. Did you know that Picasso felt that the design of camouflage netting was copied from his work? Even if he said it in jest did you also know that camouflage patterns do actually have a copyright? This is a pointless conversation as people either accept that custom items are acceptable on EB or they don't, regardless of whether they accept them in the world outside of this site. I don't see the need to continually make that point.
  18. This looks great and it's the best I've seen a construction figure look. Giving that figure something to interact with gives it a better sense of scale and that speeder looks fantastic. The articulation of the figure is ideal and that colour scheme also works really well. Really nicely done.
  19. They're on the CMF S14 Monster Scientist but you'll have to rub some of the print off. Good news is if you pick the figure up the arms are perfect upgrades for Biker Scouts.
  20. Hi, I can't help you with the greasy tires unfortunately. With the use of 100% hydrogen peroxide if you wanted it to be 4% or equivalent wouldn't you mix 40ml of peroxide with 1litre of water? or am I being over simple in that estimation? There's an estimated chart here: http://www.using-hydrogen-peroxide.com/peroxide-dilution-chart.html I've seen people use other coloured bricks before now but with differing results It's not as clearly effective as with white bricks. Someone on Youtube called Toy Polloi did a video with various colours of bricks:
  21. In the same way that I won't touch a badly made figure be it bootleg or otherwise. A good print on a poorly moulded 'bootleg' minifigure is just as undesirable to me as a poorly printed and / or badly designed figure on genuine Lego parts. There's no difference to infringement of IP. The only difference is scale and that has nothing to do with IP infringement. Custom figures are usually perfect with no misalignment or print errors especially on pad printed figures due to the short print run. There's even the chance to buy a 'misprinted' custom for a reduced rate (when the misprint is almost indistinguishable from the perfect print). I'm not going to apologise to anyone for owning a custom figure as it's a perfectly legitimate part of collecting minifigures and has been for as long as I can remember. In the same way I'm not going to apologise for the Captain America First Avenger torso that's on my custom of him as nobody else has created one and it looks and feels as good as genuine Lego.
  22. We're not going to go there are we? I'm talking about a fully pad printed figure of a character not released by Lego or of an alternate design of a character that hasn't been released all on genuine Lego pieces. Not somebody painting something and selling it. There's an entire section of the site dedicated to customisation including threads for custom figures for sale. We've also been over and over that there seems to be an acceptance of custom printed figures by both Lego and the IP holders as we know they are fully aware of the practice and yet choose to allows customisers to sell hundreds of figures per week on their online shops when a single email from a legal team would shut it down overnight. I'm sure you'll have voiced your disapproval of the hand painted and moulded Aliens figures that are very popular and have been created and sold through threads on this site by a member? Will you be letting the customiser who has created a fantastic moulded Sauron with custom helmet and mace as well as all their other incredible LOTR and Hobbit moulds that you aren't happy with them too? I'm sure neither of these people had licenses to create these figures. Or is is just those that would make a Batman Beyond figure that deserve the full might of the law? Maybe a Spiderman UK figure? If it hasn't been done by Lego then it's not a clone. If Lego are fine with people producing custom figures then it should be fine for everyone else. I'm betting there are many people at Billund who will have custom figures on their desk if not in their collections wherever they're kept. If you were touring the studio there and saw a custom figure on a designers desk would you choose to reprimand them for having the audacity to own a custom figure as you've just tried to do to me? I'll even point out there is a thread in the Customisation Forum which is pinned to the top. It's the Decal Request Thread. It's over 9 years old and in it there have been hundreds of requests for designs for licensed characters... with hundreds of them filled. This breaks the same IP law. The rules of the pinned thread state that only the originator of the decal is allowed to SELL their decals on BrickLink etc. Wouldn't that be profit through violation of other people's IP? The thread would be complicit in this violation as that's where the request for the design originated and the reason the decal was created in the first place.
  23. The thing about the previous thread was that when information about new figures was posted there was almost always someone to point out where the figure may have come from design-wise. Buying bootlegs actually made me move more into buying custom figures on genuine Lego parts. Expensive decision. Darth Nihilus is a clone of Christo's custom figure by the look of it but it's also been done previously by the likes of Penzore. The body looks very close to Palpatine's but I think there are various other genuine torsos that can be used including the Nazgul. As long as they give a decent head print then that's a potentially very good figure.
  24. This thread should probably be closed or just left to drop down the pages.
