  1. I would say they where right about a lot of things back then The book sounds like a interesting read full of useful details
  2. On the contrary I would say that just proves my point In 1978 they started on scratch and had to make a lot of the new moulds for the Castle theme. The castle is just basic bricks the same with the horses and the figs have stickers, but they used the hole budget on new moulds for weapons etc. This was a a big success and the next sets used the budget on printing figs ect and then in 1985 they went all the way with new parts and print including the horse and more modern fractions and started introducing special wall parts for the castle. So the sets in those early days brought a hole lot of new useful parts to the theme compared to the Creator 3-in-1 sets today
  3. Possible, i guess we will see Regarding the bank, it is possible to make it fit with DA if it has 3 floors and only the top one is the bank, but the lower ones are the vault so they are still on ground level from the outside. However if it is only the bank in the set then it is so much bigger than the buildings in DA so I do not think it will fit. Strangely enough the new WW is even smaller so how that would fit instead makes little sense to me, I guess we will see during the summer
  4. Yes I agree, my guess is a recolor of a part at best..
  5. Apparently one of the HP sets has as least one knight statue fig..
  6. It is not about how well they are made, I think the 3-in-1 Medieval Castle is a great looking set for what it is. However what do they bring to the theme? With City it is no issue since we get over 50 normal sets every year so plenty of minifig parts to choose from and include in the Creator 3-in-1 set. Say we get a Creator 3-in-1 Castle set every 3 years, but without any other Castle set to back it with minifigs, weapons etc then we end up with something like this: A decent castle that probably is a nice parts-pack for people building a castle moc if the price is right, as a army-builder set to inhabit the same moc pretty useless, this on the other hand:
  7. Not a single owl (again)?! The sets do not sound so exiting to me, but will wait until I see them before I pass judgement
  8. Yes most of them are crazy looking, but if they make say the white-tailed/mule deer mould and print on the flowers etc we may get it in a normal print later I assume the hen/chicken is the mould we already have and not a rooster..
  9. Not sure what the this theme will bring with animal moulds if any, but there is a lot of focus on animals it seems:
  10. You may be right or it was in BAM maybe, definitely seen some pirate parts there? If it is so close in time that they can easy just bring up the print on the pc they may use it and probably give it a new part number
  11. They are out of production so Lego will make new ones, they may end up close to the ones from 2015, but will not be the same. When they finally brought back the horse mould they made it slightly different in the printing even if it was no reason to do it. Had there been any bluecoats in production they would probably just used the same for at least some of the figs to same on the budget I think they will include some females and hopefully not only female soldiers. Camilla would be a very nice fig to include so would not surprise me There is one in orange(?) in the flower set as well
  12. Forgot about that one One more for Castle so it increases the chance of the D2C coming sooner rather than later since it seems Lego have the most faith in Castle out of the 3 themes I do not agree since Creator 3-in-1 is just basic bricks with a few minifigs that already exist they will most likely give none or maybe a single useful parts to the theme Then you can say this count as well: They are more in line with other themes that sometimes gives us a useful part like:
  13. No, they could make it anytime they like they just like all the PR and hype it creates. When they finally make it, fans will co crazy and the set it comes in will be sold out after 5 mins almost no matter how it looks. Mark Stafford designer of Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage 75936 wanted to include it and probably had the budget to do it. Found out the mould was broken and did not have the time to wait for them to make a new one. OK at least we learned that the mould was broken.. Wes Talbott and Samuel Johnson wanted to include one in 21325: Medieval Blacksmith, even tried to convince a person high up to let them do it. OK Ideas budget are extremely low so they normally can not include new moulds even if that seem to be no problem with some of the licensed ones.. 10305: Lion Knights' Castle was a very good moment to do it and they had the budget for it. However Mike Psiaki do not seem to be very interested in animal moulds in my mind, even if Milan Madge was the main designer maybe they decided to use the budget on the other part instead of the goat. OK number of animals is one of the few cons with the set so a goat was probably not the first priority. 60346: Barn & Farm Animals had several new animal moulds one of them could easily be replaced with a goat. OK it was better with the ones we got since there is already adult animals so they only needed to make the juveniles and the sheep skin ads a fun play-feature. OK lets say we "buy" all the excuses I have made for not including the goat in those sets and I could probably made up some more for other sets. Still Lego could just have made a CMF with a goat if they just wanted to give us one, no problem with plenty of budget for new moulds Conclusion they are enjoining the hype and waiting for the perfect moment to do so my guess is the Medieval marked village that leaked from the survey Sorry for OT post
  14. A strict re-release of modulars still have a few issues: They have been detailed from the beginning on the exterior, but not on the interior so that is a big difference compared to a modern one Lego only has production capacity for a given number of products every year, if they must choose between a new modular and say CC the new one will always sell a lot more since there is a lot of us collecting that already have CC. Parts in the old sets may not be in production any more. That is not a big deal just bring it back you say? Well just look at the goat The same issue it can be with colours not in use any more, but I do not know it that is the case.. There is a lot more useful parts now than 15 years ago, so if they made them today they would have a lot of more modern bricks so the original may look a little old fashion because of that Personally I do not think they will re-release the old modulars and regarding Castle and Pirates (Space) sets I think they have found a winning recipe with a modern take on classic sets.
  15. Regarding when we can get it, we have gotten the following retro sets the last years: 2020 Pirates D2C (Pirates of Barracuda Bay) 2021 Castle D2C (Medieval Blacksmith) 2022 Space D2C (Galaxy Explorer) 2022 Castle D2C (Lion Knights' Castle) 2022 Castle GWP (Forest Hideout) (2022 Pirates GWP (Ray the Castaway)) Work as a pirate set, but it is not one I would say so do not count 2023 Space GWP (Blacktron Cruiser) 2023 Rumored Pirates D2C (Eldorado fortress) So if we assume we get 1-2 D2C and 1-2 GWP every year between the themes evenly distributed, we should get: A Pirate GWP this year. A Space D2C this year or in 2024 A Castle D2C in 2024 or 2025 so you might be right @Khargeust on the other hand we got a Castle D2C in both 2021 and 2022 so we can get one every year from now on
  16. Lego probably believed that at the time, after all they stopped making HP sets because the movies ended even if the franchise was still extremely popular. They also made advent calenders, chess sets etc in addition to the D2C sets to tie in with the normal wave of sets. Things are different now and Lego knows Pirates, Castle and Space D2C sets will sell on their own without the backing of a normal wave of sets. A wave of sets aimed more at kids must sell a lot more than a single D2C to defend their spot on shelf's and maybe kids today prefer things like Ninjago instead
  17. WB probably wants sets from the new show and Lego from the movies that they know will sell and then they will make a compromise with some of each is my guess. Then next wave depends on the sale of the sets
  18. The 3 SW movies Disney made are basically poorer copy's of the originals Some people are stupid Why would JKR care what the original actor trio do and I do not understand why/if they care if she believes there are 2 sexes or 20 It is probably about money as usual, WB has probably tried to make a reboot for a long time and finally was able to make a deal JKR was satisfied with. It is a little frustrating that most of what comes out of "Hollywood" these days are a sequel or a reboot etc. I would not be surprised if Lego are making sets of the new show when it releases, SW have sets from several films and series at the same time right? How many sets we get depends on how popular the show is, it may end up like FB with only a couple of sets and a few figs
  19. I do not have the source either, but it is right that they started the design with a village in front of the castle, turned out it was to big so they removed the village early on and just kept some small details from it like the civilian figs, cart etc. I hope you are right even if I would have preferred it sooner rather than later. The leaked set was closer to finished in the design compared to some of the other sets, however until we get solid news of at least one of the sets from the survey are being released I do not think we can do more than hope..
  20. A German news site. No not as far as I know, but they are usually very well informed. Yes because if the set was coming in the next months they most likely would know something about it Of course they are not Lego so it may come soon even if they do not know about it or sometime later and leaks has not popped up yet..
  21. It comes in a the little mermaid set that leaked now It has 9 fish in 3 colours and 2 minidoll animals from what I can see. It is a decent looking set, but would have preferred a lot more coral reef made with fun parts and more sea-creatures.. Edit. Sebastian just looks to be a normal red crab and Flounder has more realistic print without doll-eyes it seems
  22. My guess is this week or the next depending on how long it takes to start up the train and get it to full speed after Easter. Make sense that they did not add them during Easter so they would get a lot of orders with few or no one at work
  23. The threshold are getting a lot higher on average and impossible to get most of them unless you are willing to pay full price for huge sets several times a month I have several older ones and get some when I buy parts from PAB, but plan on using them for swapping for the ones I want later and buy the sets on sale elsewhere to save money
  24. I will probably watch it and give it a chance.. However I prefer something new and original like Fantastic beast, but the people with money making them only wants to back "safe" things so then we end up with mostly new versions of every thing successful in the past I do not understand with the desperate need the studios have for new fantasy ideas why not anything from Brandon Sanderson has been made yet
  25. Never stop dreaming As you say a Eldorado fortress is a dream come true This! I am not sure what I am most hyped about this or the medieval village, but they are both so high on the list compared to everything else I am not sure what is on the 3rd place right now
