  1. Really nice work mate! Love the natural looking colour scheme and I respect anyone who actively uses Technic in their MOCs.
  2. Now that IS awesome! All I can say is: LoL!
  3. I apologise in advance if this has been answered previously. I've had a look around and I don't see it having been discussed before. The BBcode reference tells me that you can dynamically resize images within the image tags. This would be useful as I could resize images without having to do it manually in Photoshop (if say, I want to upload a large image to Flickr). I have tried to do this in this forum but it seems it does not work. Is this disabled or have I done something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. What I mean is this: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Cuahchic/Space/BustyTrollop/top_view.jpg[/img] ^ It doesn't become an image.
  4. Very nice! Love the rocket launchers and assymetry of the MOC. Some nice shapes mixed in there and it's a nice touch to see the flaps there to cover the windshield.
  5. Thanks for all the comments guys. You're on the ball my friend! The last picture is NOT part of the upcoming diorama but there is an upcoming diorama featuring this MOC. It's about 60% completed and will be released sometime during the summer. Look out for that as it continues the same tongue-in-cheek humour featured here. There's one showing how the legs (or engines) are connected but none of the back of the MOC. The back is one area I didn't photograph. When I finish the diorama I'll be sure to add a photo of the back to the set. No comment!
  6. I don't often frequent these parts (i.e. the Space forum) but today I am showcasing my latest MOC: The Busty Trollop. Description: Tired of the blatant misogyny in most Space! themes (such as Iron Reich or Fifth Conspiracy), the Phallus Manipulators Society, or PMS for short, was set up to thwart male minifigs from taking over the LEGOverse. This ship, the Busty Trollop, is a one-of-a-kind custom ship piloted by the Hispanic femifig Inika Zorro. Go sisters! Feel free to view on Brickshelf, MOCpages or Flickr. Look out for this ship in an upcoming diorama.
  7. Well done with these mate! I like the Chevy Corvette the best - I think the 6-wide proportions are just right and the colour scheme is spot-on! The removable engine is a nice touch The Delorian is 7-wide is interesting - how easy/difficult was this? I've never tried 7-wide myself but I know it can be quite tricky!
  8. Nice to see someone else end the terror of their dark-ages! Welcome out of the closet... I only exited my dark ages last year so I know how it feels. However, you've made a big splash with your introduction! Not sure if it is intentional but I love the depth-of-field in your photos - it's a difficult thing to get right. Looking forward to seeing more from you - can't wait for the MOCs!
  9. A wonderous piece of work which stays faithful to the original. Hope to see more from you and I'm looking forward to the red train already!
  10. This is very true! That would be fine by me - no reason why this couldn't be there for added fun value. As long as it remained a distraction rather than the main focus. Totally agree! Great start mate, hope to see more great stuff from you. Keep up the good work
  11. I really like the way this is progressing. We've already got so many great ideas and hopefully this will continue as more people join in. I'd suggest making this a perpetual project - that could be added to indefinitely. That way the community could continue to add creations to it - a bit like a virtual layout. The reason I suggest this is that it would make the project more accessible to anyone and quite a few people (myself included) have cited time-restrictions as being an issue at present. Nice work with the map Thrash! It's beginning to take shape already. However, I'd rather see this be a building-led project (as opposed to planning-led) so the MOCs which are actually built are then turned into a map, rather than the map dictating what everyone can build. There's a lot of scope for this to be epic. We've got off to a good start already and we haven't even factored into the equation police stations, hospitals, fast-food outlets, gyms, corner-shops etc (the list is endless!)
  12. Very nice collection there. How did you make the helmets? Is it just me or are they missing something important...weapons?
  13. Since we are now beginning to knock about ideas I'd like to propose that I build some kind of public sector building in a colonial style. It may be a diplomatic office, library, museum etc (something along those lines). The final use of the building I will determine once it's built! This is the kind of thing I am talking about: I would ideally like this module to open up onto a town square of some description. So I am proposing that this whole module will cover 48x96 studs. Is this acceptable? (Will there be a time limit on the building phase? If so, can it be at least 3 months? ) EDIT: Apologies about the link. Hopefully this one will work better.
  14. Oh, and a word of caution: The Green Brick Giant is correct in that the NBA torsos have arms and hands that do not separate (I don't own any but I've heard this). So make sure you buy the brown hands and arms separately. Good luck and let me know how you get on!
  15. Let me be the first to say that this is nice! Love the use of upside down inverted 1x3 double slopes on the hood. The touches of chrome are all in the right place, and the minifig is well chosen. My feedback would be that I am not keen on the wheels - the technic axles look too long and I don't think the technic piece on the outside of the wheel fits in with the rest of the car. Well done though!
  16. I never thought of that, but this is a great idea. Looks good mate, well done!
  17. Is this map going to define the limits of number of buildings in each zone? Will there be a set limit or will it depend on how many people wish to contribute to each zone? Just out of curiosity, how high will each storey be? Is there a limit or does it depend on the style of building (within reason)? For example, in my experience older style colonial buildings tend to have high ceilings whereas modern houses don't have such excess.
  18. Consider yourself crossed off my Christmas card list! Regarding the question: I think it's probably for the best that road baseplates are not in sets. I actually like the new style of road baseplate and they are readily available on S@H (as of last time I checked). As mentioned previously, it reduces the cost of sets and removes a rather limited use item. You can probably just fit a 6-wide car on a baseplate anyway (hurries off to check...)
  19. Ha! It's mutual This post pretty much sums up my feelings. Although I've contributed to the discussion already I am pretty easy to be honest, which makes the first part of this post even more notable...
  20. I appreciate your concerns but the great thing is that because the buildings are distinct from the pavement then you can still produce a building without having ANY tiles. So don't rule yourself out yet! We could also use 1x1 plates interspersed in the tiles to give us more options. However, the seams between the tiles may have a strange appearance.
  21. I will email you some good sellers I have used. I should warn you that everything on Bricklink is in $, so be wary of the exchange rates. In addition, buying from sellers in America will probably result in you receiving custom charges . So it's not cheap, but you've got very little choice to be honest!
  22. My own understanding is that we will define what sort of buildings to be built in a "zone". For example, if Zone 1 is residential then there will be certain types of buildings allowed (e.g. it may be only appartment style buildings on a 16x16 base). However, there could be multiple residential zones for appartments, suburbia, old folks homes etc. This would then apply to industrial, commericial and civic areas. If someone could confirm this that would be great. Thanks!
  23. I would prefer option 1 from Teddy's suggestions. That way the buildings can be positioned to the road more randomly (and realistically) and there is scope for building self-contained harbour or other off-road buildings. I also agree with comments above regarding pavement going onto some modules to keep it feeling more realistic and less regular.
  24. Hi mate, as you know I have amassed a large number of African heads for Zulu army which will be available fo public consumption later this year. For those who don't know, I have around 160 African heads for my Zulu army and British auxilliaries. The choices you have are as follows: NBA Heads (a couple of examples) Pros - wide variety of styles, generally widely available, is more like a true African or African-American Cons - most have a stupid smile Standard Head (in reddish brown, unlike photo) Pros - wide range of uses, can be easly combined with other accessories (e.g. beards, hairpieces etc), gender neutral, age neutral Cons - silly smirk, only one variety Lando Pros - doesn't have stupid expression Cons - rare, expensive Old Style Mace Windu Pros - fairly non-specific expression, fairly gender neutral, age neutral Cons - VERY rare, expensive, difficult to acquire many of these New Style Mace Windu Pros - more detailed face Cons - looks weird next to normal minifigs, very haggard looking Dark Flesh with Goatee Pros - my favourite African head, fits in with older style minifigs well, doesn't have stupid expression Cons - strange colour (dark flesh) Dark Flesh with Sunglasses Pros - modern style African head Cons - silly expression, can't be used in historical MOCs, strange colour (dark flesh) I have all of the above with the exception of the old style Mace Windu and the Dark Flesh with Sunglasses. It's an expensive and time-consuming thing to buy in quantity. In my own opinion, the only answer is Bricklink. Even on Bricklink I purchased all the NBA heads from different sellers (e.g. 6 from one seller, 3 from another etc) and so the shipping costs add up. If you are thinking of trying Bricklink again I can tell you which sellers I have used so you don't get stung again. Hope this helps. If I've missed any, let me know.
  25. If that is the case would it not make more sense to merge the two topics into one? That would make it easier to follow IMO as at the moment we are discussing the same topic (i.e. the community build) in two threads. We could have the poll with the sidewalk standard thread where everyone can ask whatever questions they like as at the moment it's not exactly clear which questions should be asked in which thread! Just a thought?
