  1. Sounds interesting. I can see a collaboration coming! Perhaps we should take this to email. Glad you like the MOC! That's quite alright. Any comment is better than no comment! Glad you like it
  2. I really like the shape of this. It has a nice sleak design and I really think the detailing on the central column is great. My only nitpick with the MOC is it's a bit...grey. Perhaps mixing in some other colour, such as stripes, would help break up the monotone. Just as a helpful tip: there should be a setting on your camera to set the white balance. Try and look at your manual and set it correctly for the type of lighting you are using. Different light sources actually emit different spectra but if you want the camera to reproduce the "whites" properly you need to set this parameter correctly. Hope this helps!
  3. Exactly my point! Good ol' Manny. I didn't know you were a fan mate? They don't make games like that any more. The level of characterisation was far and away the best. I felt so attached to Manny! Skeletons have feelings...even if they lack a central nervous system.
  4. Why does everyone always show skeletons naked? I mean, has no-one played Grim Fandango?
  5. Very nice work! I am sure your sons will have hours of fun with this - it's a different challenge when you build primarily for playability rather than showmanship so bonus points for that. It's certainly a very well-armed ship and hopefully the Colonel will be able to regain his realm. Legaña supports the rightful ruler of PBR!
  6. Really like these scenes. They are very news-channel-esque! Legaña fully supports the Legoland government in this struggle!
  7. Great work! I'm a bit ignorant about motorbikes but it looks very like the source material. I particularly like the white colour scheme - it contrasts nicely with the black and the transition is very natural. Keep up the good work!
  8. Thank you to everyone for all the comments! Although there's nothing particularly innovative about the build I tried to emphasise the presentation the most. Thank you! Yes, I appreciate the reminder I haven't built anything in 3 months. I've been busy! And what do you mean "coming back" - I never left! Yes, that red light is supposed to be there. What is producing it is up to you - I've left it up to your imagination to decide what it is - that way it can be as scary as you like!
  9. Glad you both like it!
  10. Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you noticed the heater - I wasn't sure if it was obvious what it was supposed to represent. The shelves are stuck to the supporting poles, but the shelf-unit (if you like) just sits on the surface of the MOC. The most frustrating part about photographing this was items constantly falling off the shelves when moving the main character (since the shelves were made from tiles). The lighting was achieved using a mixture of a halogen desk lamp behind some tracing paper (for the corridor lighting) and the 'bulbs' in the room itself were the power function light set with a 1x1 trans-clear round brick on the end to diffuse the light. Why thank you.
  11. It's been a pretty hectic year and I've been struggling to find the time (not to mention motivation) to build anything fresh. I've got plenty of ideas but not enough time to do them justice! I had planned to do something for Halloween, but unfortunately I am not keen on hardcore horror films which meant by palette was limited. However, I had seen more gentle horror such as Alien, The Descent and of course, The Thing. Anyway, sob story that no-one wants to read aside, I'd always wanted to do a tribute to the . The video itself is already a tribute to a popular sci-fi/horror film that I'd seen (you can decide which one for yourselves...). I knew all along that this MOC would be my first serious foray into advanced lighting techniques. I thought it would very appropriate for the atmosphere I wanted to create. I always feel that the scariest thing is what you DON'T get to see, so I've left the monster here deliberately ambiguous. You can decide for yourself what's coiled around the barrel, projecting red light in the corner and has the ability to turn off lights in nearby rooms. I hope you've enjoyed this small insight into my building process. I tend not to delve into this as I find it difficult to express myself coherently. If you've questions, please ask. This MOC can be found on Brickshelf (when moderated), MOCpages and Flickr for your viewing pleasure.
  12. Good work. It has a nostalgic feel that is difficult to capture, but you've done well on that front. Nice minifig placement. I really like the SNOT work for the hoardings. Hope to see more castles from you!
  13. This sounds like an interesting idea. I really like the idea of a circus train - I think there'd be a lot of mileage in that. What I think would look quirky would be a train which looks like a Chinese dragon (see below). It could be some kind of carnival train! It might be something for a display where the children could point it out.
  14. Really like the building there, especially the various shades of grey used to add realism to the roof. I also love the hand cart in the additional photos. Good work!
  15. Simply beautiful. I like the new shape you've achieved here and there's load of nice details at the back. Good work!
  16. LoL Nice work. I really like the interior pic, very realistic!
  17. Looks great! I really like the dome at the top and the overall shape. Very nice. I also love the mosaic at the entrance. The trees lining the road are a nice touch. However, I think the studs below the windowless arches need covered up with tiles and the entrance stairs could be a bit more refined, but overall, good effort!
  18. I know most of you train heads have been building/collecting for a long time but my first (and only) train is Emerald Night! I was given this as a gift in June and through an enforced LEGO absence I only had time to build it this weekend. I've never been a train fan before in my life - but I now realise what all the fuss is about. I got 2 boxes of the flexible plastic track (Heretic! I know... ) and I've really enjoyed running it. The new PF with the IR kit is pretty clever and I like how it is possible to run 4 trains simultaneously with the same remote - very useful. My local LUG (the Scottish part of Brickish) runs a lot of train displays and it's great that I've now got the kit to contribute. I suppose I need to make up for the fact that it's taken me 23 years to get my first LEGO train by building loads of MOCs in this fantastic theme!
  19. Thanks BlueBard! There are two Scots in the MOC, can you guess which two? Thanks 74louloute! The tourists are a group of Japanese (just to give them different faces so they'd be obvious as tourists). Yes, this will probably feature in a layout. It was built for a Scotfest meeting where the theme was "Scotland" (it's the "Homecoming" year here, where Scotland is celebrating it's history and culture). There are a few train events coming up in August and September and I think it will make an appearance at them!
  20. What a great little scene! You've conveyed a sense of emptiness very well. The mixture of SNOT road and studs up sand looks great and gives the MOC some texture. Hope you build more post-apoc.
  21. Genius. Brilliant representation of the photo, and love the strand of hair!
  22. LoL Nice MOC. It's always nice to see shots with only LEGO in them!
  23. Hi guys! This was built for a recent Scotfest meeting, where the theme was "Scotland". This year is Scotland's "Homecoming" year, celebrating the history of Scotland. So I decided to build a statue which is close to my heart (being 600 yards from my house! LoL), the Statue of King Robert the Bruce, Lord of Galloway and vanquisher of the English at Bannockburn on June 24th 1314. Your viewing time is appeciated.
  24. Well, I built Space! again. Twice in one year! When I built The Busty Trollop, I promised that I'd be back with a diorama in which it featured. So, being someone who fufils their promises, here it is. Each picture is a link to Flickr. You can also view it on Brickshelf (when moderated) and MOCpages. Thanks.
  25. Nice work as always. Hope to see more photos from Legoland!
